In all seriousness, a lot of noise out of Madrid for months (maybe since August) that they players didn't like him or the idea of Alonso being a systems man. Vinicius hasn't scored since October and had a couple of bust ups with Alonso. Mbappe not happy. And Fiorentino knows that players are more important than managers (and he is right).
Quite the stark contrast compared to us. We hang on to a manager who took a year to win 2 games in a row with a 38% win rate. They sack their manager well into the second half of the season 4 points from the top of the table.
We really should be sounding him out though. Who gives a feck if he's an ex Liverpool player. He was only there 5 seasons.

Because anyone that watches Real Madrid knows that squad is unfixable. Ancelotti 'failed' with that squad and so did Alonso. The issue is not the manager but the makeup of the squad. All their best attackers are left forwards, all their CMs are energetic runners instead of ball players.
Alonso is a talented manager but was never going to work there due to the squad and player power. Cheaper in theory to replace the manager.

I really thought he would be a huge success. But is the argument for Madrid then they that don't employ someone like him - they need a 'YES' man in charge. There was talk of Klopp but he's a system man if you've ever seen one and players who don't put a shift in are quickly dropped.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting Alonso in. But that would be a long term appointment obviously. Doubt the board wants to do that now without looking at the options in summer.

This such a strange angle to use here. He has been one of their most consistent player. And it's stranger when the players linked to issues and who largely underperformed have been the likes of Valverde, Rodrygo and Vinicius.
