Whatever happens I just hope Liverpool don't get him and keep hold of Slot.
Good, now he has to deal with Enzo and Garnacho
And Afrorella
What a good, humble, and nice group of players that.
No idea, but seems to be a twat as a player alreadyWhy do you think Cucurella would be difficult to deal with as a manager?

I think he will probably like the fact that they have so many young players and no real divas on massive wages.
If they agree to let him work and bring in a few experienced heads, they could have a really good thing going.
It’ll end badly, and that’s not slagging him off, it’s the whole situation.
Based on what we're seeing this is clearly not true. They were also building a solid lead in la liga, and the egos at Chelsea are not the same as those at Madrid, if they even have any.Based on what exactly? Total flop at Madrid in terms of being a manager off the field, will be even worse at Chelsea except with a considerably less talented squad. Sacked by October
Usually Chelsea seem a bit like diet Real Madrid, with the player power and short manager life expectancy, but it might be starting to change a bit under the current ownership (not necessarily for the better).Based on what exactly? The young kids aren’t that good is the problem. Flash in the pan the lot of themUsually Chelsea seem a bit like diet Real Madrid, with the player power and short manager life expectancy, but it might be starting to change a bit under the current ownership (not necessarily for the better).
Alonso might fancy getting the load of kids that are now at Chelsea to listen to him and adopt his ideas more than the Madrid dressing room were ever going to, at least.
How is he not going to Liverpool. Big mistake to go to Chelsea, and big mistake from Liverpool not to bin off Slot who is clearly not working for someone who seems like such an obvious fit.
Despite everything that the owners have done wrong, there's still the nucleas of a good team there, as Maresca shown, heck even Rosenior did for a couple of months. No CL football, a mess of a squad, likely limited funds to spend this summer. It must be one hell of a change in approach that they are promising Alonso if they do him.
Makes me wonder if they are more trying to appease their best players with a top name manager, rather than any genuine ripping up of the way they run the club.
That's why I'm struggling to believe it despite the promising reports.I don’t know what Chelsea are smoking here.
There’s no point trying for Xabi because surely he’s going to Liverpool innit.
I don't really buy this tbh.If it means Eghbali and his 5 sporting directors stop picking the team, then I'm all for it.
I think Xabi Alonso to Liverpool would likely be a bad move for both parties, Liverpool are in transition and need a more expirienced manager to lead them out of it if they replace Slot.
He'll have enough contacts to know whether or not Slot is getting the boot anytime soon.I know managers want a job, and Chelsea is still a big name with potential, if you come in and get the right amount of influence. On the other hand, their transfer strategy is a mess, they spent loads on average players already, their top management is crazy and they will not play Europe next year.
Sometimes I feel like managers might do themselves a favor by just waiting a bit. If I was Alonso, I'd be thinking that the Liverpool job might become available pretty soon, and that does seem more attractive to me.
Who exactly will know what the Liverpool management will do if they are 10th in October, or something like that. They probably don't even know it themselves. He'll have enough contacts to know whether or not Slot is getting the boot anytime soon.
He'll know if Slot is getting sacked before next season.Who exactly will know what the Liverpool management will do if they are 10th in October, or something like that. They probably don't even know it themselves.
Yeah, that's also not what I'm saying, and I don't think he will. I find it very likely that Slot gets sacked before the end of the year though. My point is that Alonso might be better off waiting for another opportunity than this Chelsea circus. Especially having just come out of the Madrid circus. He'll know if Slot is getting sacked before next season.
And I can't understand any manager that doesn't have a job not taking it if offered.Yeah, that's also not what I'm saying, and I don't think he will. I basically can't understand any manager that isn't starving wanting to go to Chelsea right now.
The best appointment they can make really. I don't share this threads view that he will crash and burn at all. Leverkusen were in a much much worse state when he took overPretty good appointment that.
Would they look to sign Xhaka on two year deal I wonder? Alonso got amazing form out of him at Leverkusen.
Theyre jobless not homelessAnd I can't understand any manager that doesn't have a job not taking it if offered.

Feel like they'd actually be well setup to work in his 3-5-2 though if he was gonna bring that over.
They dont have the CB's for it as VVD and Konate are off this summer, the Italian kid and you new kid from France wont be ready to be regular starters for a club wanting to challenge for major honours, and Joe Gomez just isnt very good
It does seem like a bit of a no-brainer. Be surprised if Slot is still there come October. How are Liverpool missing such open goals now? Are they run by clowns too?
Opposite of innit.I don’t know what Chelsea are smoking here.

I was reading that on here for ages so has to be true innitOpposite of innit.
Why would they do a thing that riduculous with the talent and potential on their books?Pretty good appointment that.

It's a mistake on Liverpool's part not to make an approach for sure but I don't know if it's necessarily a mistake on Alonso's part. Chelsea are a bit of a basket case but the foundations look stronger there in terms of personnel he'd inherit. How is he not going to Liverpool.
