This market is mental. United just cannot compete anymore - not that we were linked to him. We just don’t have the financial capabilities or the top teams.
That’s what happens under poor leadership and failing to qualify for the champions league on a regular basis. United will eventually be in for these high priced deals again but far too much damage has been done by the glazers and previous recruitment. The rebuild will take time.

Yeah but Antony was a completely mental panic buy that should never have happened, and will hopefully never be repeated by this club.
Yeah but I'm highlighting the people saying this is mental and crazy by Madrid and "100m for this bum!?" is a lot of stones and glass houses type stuff.... but worse, 'Cause Diomande now is better than Antony ever was, never mind where he'll be in a few years.

Yeah, imagine telling an Arsenal fan a few years ago they would be able to spend 100 million on a player and now be credibly in for Vinicius.

The rebuild has already taken too much time.

Doesn't look good enough to be starting for Real Madrid right now. Interesting to see how he does. Their fans certainly aren't known for their patience

Difference seems to be that these clubs doing the big deals have players to sell, Madrid will no doubt offload a couple fo big names to fund these signings, Chelsea selling players they've stockpiled, PSG valuing Barcola is worth £100 million +.

Whereas United have a thin sqaud already and no one of note really to sell that we can afford to lose, so virtually all our outgoings are net spend.
Agree, only have to look at sales already made or likely/possible from likes of chelsea, spurs, real...if youre spending £150m and possibly selling £100m...spent less than us.

I do however disagree our squad is so thin...we have given big wages to players never justified them over a prolonged period and now cant sell them....but

Vitek, Amass, dalot, martinez, collyer, gore, zirkzee, amad...there are players of reasonable to pretty high value....thats £150-200m on top of mount, rashford sales

Not saying we should sell all, wont go into who i would and wouldnt as probably agsinst grain, but devils advocate...

Vitek wants move, we have three gk

Amass last year contract we have cover lb in leon and dorgu even if no signing

Dalot cheaper options can replace his sale

Martinez...contract, if hes injured isnt an option and what about faith in our other options

Collyer/gore wont play

Zirkzee people want to go, now worried about sesko injury...cunha and mbuemo cover, zirkzee barely played last year with same situation

Amad we have mbuemo and lacey

Rashford we are giving a pathway...why? Why not hardball of dont move dont play anywhere

Mount we seem to want to keep, he isnt a starter when fit anyway in our best eleven

There are reaspns to sell each and not enough faith for me on the likes of dorgu, lacey, heaven and yoro or other youngsters not yet featured.

But we CAN raise funds to pretty much fund a diomande, viniscus type signing...outside cm and rb for me...our squads not as paper thin as made out to me...we are just too loyal to some players too long i feel

Looks like Plettenberg is right, Alex Crook and Fabrizio Romano are in the mud. Nothing been agreed yet.

The thing is, we spent €100m euros on a winger 4 years ago - he just wasn't very good. We're part of the reason the market is fecked.

Cool, i like him and have wanted us to sign him all summer

Now sign Rodri

Eyes on the prize Flo. Eyes on the fecking prize
Thanks for keeping him away from scouse grasp, now can we negotiate a deal for Tchouameni or Camavinga

PSG making that statement officially dropping out kind of spells it out no?

They still need to agree a fee so Plettenberg was right.

Crook and Romano have said its done which is wrong, the clubs havent agreed anything yet

Yet they've slapped a €170m price tag on Barcola
Chelsea also tried to sign barcola but bid rejected when nobody knows. Barcola not interested in chelsea sporting project. Our owners are really onto something no onto everything in the market.

I haven't watched him much but seems crazy to pay over €100m for a 19 year old winger from Leipzig with one good season under his belt. Especially since he moved last summer for €20 million

Brilliant business by Leipzig. Cash in when his value is the highest, not sure if he even is Real Madrid quality. Very young and time will only tell, but for this price you have to sell.

No guarantees in football, but this kid looks like the real deal to me - I think he'll do very well for them.

PSG must be wondering what the hell happened, though. The reigning two-time UCL winners, with arguably the best coach currently in world club football at the helm, backed by a nation state and with functionally infinite financial resources, have been beaten to their top summer transfer target (after it emerged that he reportedly wanted to join them above all other clubs). As I said, I guess there are no guarantees in football, even when you have every possible advantage.
They’re not the biggest club in the world, so they don’t have every possible advantage.

He is still raw. But his qualities are of a high enough standard that I think he'll do very well and influence matches to Real's advantage regularly. Not a chance he'll flop, even if he doesn't sort of the wrinkles and reach the absolute pinnacle.

Interesting to see how he fits into Jose's approach at Real.

Not even the best winger at Leipzig. I wonder how much they'll ask for for Nusa.

Agreed. Good player but Real is a horrible environment IMO. Look at what's happened to similar talents in Endrick and Mastantuono for example.
Or Royston Drenthe at Madrid. Remember him? 29 appearances for feyenoord first team only before signing for Madrid. Lasted about a season before his career plunged off a cliff.

But for every Drenthe, there's always Vini, Rodrygo and Valverde that worked out spectacularly after being picked up as basically youth players. and in the Brazilian's case, for big money.

I think he’s a decent gamble at ~€100m. A player this widely sought after by multiple top teams has quality.

1000% not the same as randomly overspending on players no one was even looking at *Chokes on €95m for Antony and €75m for Hojlund*

I want us to be smarter but also want United to be ambitious. Question is:

1. Would CR7 or Rooney respawned today pick United?
2. Would we even be in the mix?
1)not a chance

2)nope
