Your Hidden Gems or under the radar - Wanted Signings

Oh yeah, is there a rule of length of first pro contract? Would make sense. In that case we should be in his ear constantly!
Players in England under 18 can only sign 3 years max contract, that's why Arsenal waited until he turned 18 a couple months ago to sign him to a longterm contract. Then after the season ended he was with England U21. He hasnt signed his new contract yet but Romano said a couple days ago that he wanted to sign and Arsenal was confident in keeping him.

Yeah, that rings a bell. I think they probably will keep him, but always worth saying we're interested while there is uncertainty.

He might not be a hidden gem in the strictest sense — being an Aston Villa player currently out on loan — but Enzo Barrenechea has put together an impressive season at Valencia. A solid defensive/central midfielder, with a good blend of physicality, passing range, defensive solidity as well as being tidy on the ball/retention. Has been called up for the Argentinian national team a couple of times but no caps yet.
Given Villa’s current depth in central midfield and potential PSR considerations following their failure to qualify for the Champions League (they must be absolutely livid with that ref!), there might be of interest for them to cash in on him. Was part of the Douglas Luiz swap to/from Juventus previous summer.

Another hidden gem could be Pierre Ekwah at St.Etienne (on loan from Sunderland). Admittedly I haven't seen him play, but at least statistically and on YouTube he looks interesting, and similar to Barrenechea; https://fbref.com/en/players/830371be/scout/365_m1/Pierre-Ekwah-Elimby-Scouting-Report
Barrenechea is about to join Benfica from Villa for €15m. We should (should’ve) been all over that, especially with our limited funds and clear need of a CM/DM.

Royale Union SG 21 year old striker Franjo Ivanovic.

Wanted by Frankfurt, Benfica, Sporting and Brighton. Benfica seem to be furthest along in the pursuit, with their Sporting Director apparently having already been in Brussels to negotiate the transfer. He seems to be a very intelligent player with great awareness inside the box. He makes clever runs and finishes well, especially in tight areas. he also seems to be comfortable dropping back to linking play between midfield and attack. Based on reports he could probably be signed for about €25 - €30 million. He's seems like the type of Number 9 that could really complement and work well with Cunha and Mbeumo.

Its annoying that Everton seem to have a clear run at Fofana from Lyon. He looked quality against us!

Only they and Forest have made offers and he's holding out for a CL club so they're not having a clear run. And he's a pure winger, dont see how he fits into Amorim's tactics after Cunha and Mbeumo's transfers.

Do we really need another 10 though? (which isnt even his main position)
I don't see why he couldn't play a similar role to Garnacho last year. To me it looked like a winger, even if he was technically in one of the two #10 spots.

And I think he is a talent worth grabbing based off his potential, and then you make it work later. Which, I think he would be able to do because of how quality he looked in the brief minutes he had against us. You have an opportunity to grab a quality player for relatively cheap, as opposed to a few years from now when Everton will be looking for a huge profit.

But.... I realize that we maybe aren't in a position to do that right now and people will go nuts about getting players that don't fit the system etc etc and how that put us in the position we now occupy.... I get it. I'm just disappointed as I thought he looked really good against us. And, its a good signing for one of our mid-table rivals.

We need a CF, GK, CM, DM, RWB, CCB and LCB first (the latter 4 likely to be adressed next summer)

Yep a good pick and certainly worth a shot at the price (though the argument might be only if Hoijlund goes due to both being similar age group) really good feet as well as a good finisher only caveat would be that he plays in something of a two striker system at USG however I dont see any problems with him adapting to playing as a lone striker more regularly.

Bloom will probably transfer him to Brighton like Mitouma.

Few weeks ago I saw him mentioned being valued around 10m. Completely crazy that now up to 30m are quoted. Makes me wonder if he really is worth so much?

It was always going to be Boniface or Sadiki money. 10m would be a very low bid for a talented player like him.

That being said, the step up to United would be massive for him at this point in his career.

A few interesting options in the centre forward role;

Franculino Djú
Richard Kone
Samu Aghehowa
Damion Downs
Franjo Ivanović

Kone needs to play at much higher level first, if you're talking about the Wycombe lad?

Khalis Merah, 18yo French CM from Lyon.

Looks incredibly fluid and controlled. Reminds me of Bruno to be fair.

I absolutely love watching young players receive the ball on the half turn, with their body open and ready to progress play. It's so pleasing to watch.

Very surprised he hasn’t been picked up already at that price, unless he’s holding out for a certain level of club which hasn’t materialised yet.

Same for Mateus Fernandes at Southampton, very surprised he hasn’t moved on to at least a mid table side or somewhere abroad.

There's a few players that were relegated last season that I thought showed promise:

Khannouss
Fatawu
Sulemana - Just checked and he's actually completed a move to Atalanta. I thought he looked talented enough to kick it with a bigger team. Will be interesting to see his value rocket after a couple of good years in Serie A
Dibling
Greaves

I think Khannouss and Dibling will both leave their clubs, possibly to the PL. Greaves I reckon will stay. Fatawu another that could go abroad.

It will be interesting what happens to Dibling?
Cheeky bid from Everton after reading the figures that Southampton would expect for him last season.

For sure. I feel like Khannouss would fit in at West Ham or Brentford, plus they could do with an attacking mid/10 with departures they've had this window. At such a low release clause it seems odd that he's still available.

Southampton attempted to price most interested parties out of Dibling by slapping a reported £100m price tag on him a few months ago. They'll quickly realise that they are not in such a position to do that.

I thought Greaves looked pretty solid in a struggling Ipswich side to be fair. Definitely stood out for them, strong in the air and good decision making.

Fatawu is great, such a shame he had a horror injury last season. Definitely a player that will kick on if he was to move abroad and then be linked with a PL side later down the line. We mustn't forget that he came from Sporting and played under Ruben too.

I think he will leave and a deal will get done for somewhere in the region of 35-40m. From what I've read they're looking for as close to 40m as possible but as expected, that 100m price tag was bullshit.

Gray went for that price to Spurs last season and from what I have seen they are similar talents.

Sulemana has had plenty of opportunities to break out at this stage but I have a feeling he's just one of those players like Adama Traore and Allen St Maximin who have 99th centile ability to beat players while also having 1st centile ability to be productive in dangerous positions. Crazy that a player that did what he did to Yoro last season isn't starting for a relegation team every week.

Agreed for both of those players. I remain convinced that Mateus Fernandes would be an excellent addition for us.

I have seen Franculino play many times for FCM. He is a really promising footballer. He has a fantastic finishing ability, he is fast, he is good at running deep, and he has good technique.
I would definitely recommend United to put a talent scout on him.

Those bastards keep popping them out. Looks fantastic.
Yea I know how you feel, I feel the same way about Rennes (even though we're catching back up in terms of academy talents).

Another impressive game from Khalis Merah against Bayern Munich with a nice assist for 17yo English forward Alejandro Gomes.
He sees things in slow motion, doesnt lose the ball and his passing ability and range are already so good.

Isaque, Fresneda(only saw him vs benfica but looks good), Quintero brothers (Ind. Del Valle)

Well, he's definitely not ready to start in the PL yet, but someone who is really showing signs of having it in him to become a really really good striker is Mexx Meerdink from AZ.. Was part of the team AZ team that won the UEFA Youth League last year.. Had quite some back luck with injuries this year, but looking really sharp and quality now in the end of the season..
