So it looks like Ole is staying and there are multiple threads to gripe about that; looking at what's coming up, objectively speaking, and in consideration of our squad, morale and the opposition, how do you see the following games going:

Watford (A) - manager sacked
——————————————————
Carrick in charge

Villarreal (A) CL
Chelsea (A)
Arsenal (H)
——————————————————
Ralf in charge

C. Palace (H)
Young Boys (H) CL

Given the squad we have, and the fact we have Ronaldo, is there a turnaround in the offing? I'm not trying to bait - some people genuinely believe so - and if you think no there isn't, there's no need for a tirade as to why not. It's just that when push comes to shove, do your thoughts align with your feelings? It's easier to predict a gloomy run in line with your thoughts, but we've still got an exceptional squad who have it in them to go on a run under anybody's tutelage.

Can we try and keep the Ole stuff out of this or to a bare minimum, as thoughts you have about him have undoubtedly been espoused over the international break at the very least. This is purely about the fixtures we have and the teams we go into them with - if you think it'll be a continuation of what we saw pre-break, just list your results and a breakdown of the why's if you wish, but again, please try to not make this thread a conflation of many others on the site right now.

At this stage I think it's really hard to predict, except to say it seems unlikely we'll do well against opponents like Chelsea, likely that we'll do better in the CL than in the PL, and that it's more than possible that we'll drop points also against weak and middling PL sides.

I doubt there's any real potential for a major and sustained improvement, with no changes made on the coaching side. But we can always hope.

Exactly. Solskjaer is a counter attacking coach.

Also Palace are far from a poor side mate!
No he isn't. Hasn't been in ages. Even when we played a deep, defensive formation against City recently, that wasn't a counterattack-based setup.

Thing is that every point we drop could make the gap to 4th place wider. What the teams above us do matters as well. Palace seem to be a problem for both us and City.

The only one I'd be confident of winning is the last one in the CL. Even Watford this weekend is tough (have they been training for 2 weeks while ours have been away?)

I genuinely believe that if we can get 3 wins out of that run of games it would be an achievement for us. No way acceptable for a standing of our club but unfortunately expectations are so low, thats where we are!

Watford and Young Boys shouldn't be a problem. The rest are tough. If this happens then the CL progression is out of our hands and we have to hope Villareal get something against Atalanta

If we win our next two and get something at Chelsea i could see a run forming in the rest. Irrespective of manager if a few players find form in this chaos then it can lift spirits and form.

I expect we'll smash Watford and then struggle at Villarreal

It really depends on which United will turn up on each game, let's put it that way. I'm particularly bad with predictions but two draws and a loss on our away games and two wins and a draw on our home games is probably what we're going to see. The only result I'm confident of is a win against Young Boys.

Through to the knockouts in the CL, probably about the same in the top 4 race, further behind in the title race.
