I see a version of this leaking into multiple threads so thought it might be good to have a place to discuss it from the point we are at now.

Just to paint a scenario, let's say we have £80m left to spend this summer.

Let's assume we aren't going to be able to really boost significantly with sales. What would you do if you were suddenly put in charge?

Hall - £65m
Robinson - £35m
Williams - £40m
Kone - £44m
Berge - £40m
Baleba - £70m
Scott - £80m
Adams - £35m
Bouddi - £70m
Tchouameni - £80m
Watkins - £40m

If you want to boost it with sales then please be fairly conservative in valuations and potential to actually get them done because it seems hard for us to do currently.

Amass - £6m
Vitek £10m
Zirkzee £5m loan fee

Feel free to add any players not listed of course, just try and be as close to the reported fees or at least as realistic as possible.

more cm help. Prob another backline defender with our crap injuries back there but nothing expensive. Def a backup striker though as second signing. Then maybe try and find a versatile budget RB/LB hybrid player

If we only have a 150m spend this year we are fecked.

With your list and sales I would get hall and look behind the sofa for a prospect attacker.

I would consider purchasing Camavinga or Lewis Hull, as these players possess the versatility to play both as a left-back and a defensive midfielder.

The full £80m on Tchouameni of course.

Would still leave us short at left-back and without a better backup/rotational striker, but that's the midfield sorted at least. Which was the main goal this summer.

There's also a chance I'd invite Jimmy for another fishing trip to Iceland and convince him to also buy me Hall on the credit card. Best in class.

80m? Pack up shop

I'd be tempted to just stick with what we have. Signing another midfielder, when you know Bruno is going to play every single PL and CL game would leave very little game time for the other 5 players (+ mount) in the other 2 open spots.

I don't think we need another striker, because Mbuemo will be starting up top anyway and Sesko will come off the bench so we already have depth there.

Creating PSR room to be able to spend next summer is more important or else we're just going to be in a constant cycle of having to carefully manage the budget.

I think we're strong, and have managed to strengthen. The signings we've made over the last few seasons should also begin to really cash in now (Cunha, Mbuemo and Dorgu should all be expected to make a step up this season if they are to be worthwhile signings long term).

This isn’t really how things work. If Tchouameni wants £300k p/w then you’re looking at another £80m over 5 seasons.

Whereas someone like Adam’s on £100k p/w is only a total outlay of £65m

I would in this scenario buy a left back and centre mid. Probably Robinson and Kone.

I would also use whatever money we have left from sales/sell on fees (Greenwood) to get the youngster from Bosnia (kerim alajbegovic) if the deal with Juve hasn’t gone through. Loan with obligation to buy if necessary.

Camavinga £50m, and use Dorgu as LB with Rashford coming back.

Use rest of funds on backup striker or backup CB if free or loan options are not available. Address starting LB in January.

And Zirkzee only £5 loan fee? Rather keep him then.

Presume you mean the other £30m of that £80m we were willing to pay for Fernandes. I just don't see what Zirkzee can offer us in a league where the pace of it is too quick for him. I also don't see any movement on a backup ST if those two remain at the club when window closes.

Not advocating for keeping Zirkzee- was thoroughly underwhelmed with his signing to begin with- but I’d rather keep him than loan him out for £5m or whatever measly value we may get for him. Yes I’m aware we should get more for him, but it won’t happen, so he’s still more valuable to the team than £5m and a player short.

All that said, i’m merely responding to how I’d use £80m, which is not my the ideal transfer strategy going forward. More funds are needed to make it whole.

Camavinga wasn’t on the list but rumoured price is around 45-50m.

So….buy/loan:

Hall - 55m
Camavinga - 50m (Can play LB too)
Jackson - 10m loan fee (buy obligation)

Sell:

Martinez - 35m
Zirkzee - 5m loan fee (buy obligation)

Gives a 5m net on your budget.

Keep Amass for LB depth, Shaw as cover for LB and LCB, Camavinga for LB cover occasionally.

Mainoo, Tielemans, Santos, Camavinga, Mount, Fernandes for midfield is superb.

Jackson adds pace and chaos to the front line and is an ideal depth/rotation option for Sesko.

I am in minority who wants Camavinga, however because he wants to stay plus recent injury history and supposed lapses in concentration people turn their noses up. My gut feeling is that Jackson will end up going to Villa, unfortunately there's just no chance that Martinez goes.

I would buy Bouaddi. Because from this group he is the player with the highest potential. If we want to challenge in top competitions, we need to buy either top players or top talents. And Bouaddi is a top talent. And we aren't going challenge next season anyway, even if we sign Tchouameni. So signing for the future Bouaddi.

IF just 80 mio. pounds left, then I would this - you gave me the job, so I would do more than Wilcox that lazy bas....
Keep the remaining 15 million pounds or buy some lunch for the staff at Carrington..

- Sign Lewis Hall (65 mil.)
- Sign Ollie Watkins (40 mil.)
- Sign Michael Kayode (65 mil.)
- Sign Antonio Nusa (50 mil.)
Total: 220

- Sell Zirkzee (25 mil.)
- Sell Vitek (15 mil).
- Sell Mazraoui (25 mil.)
- Sell Chido Obi (15 mil.)
- Sell Rashford (25 mil.)
- Sell Dorgu (35 mil.)
- Sell Toby Collyer, Ethan Ennis, Ethan Wheatley, Dan Gore, Ethan Williams for total (15 mil.)
Total: 155

Midfield is ok as it is.
Tyler Fletcher and Jacob Devaney can easily be the fourth / fifth choice there. We have Kobbie, Andrey, Tielemans and can also use Bruno / Mount there. No need to spend big and block the pathway for a couple of our own talented lads.

Hall, Watkins and tchouameni if funds allowed it. If defenders can stay fit, Martinez and De Ligt we would have enough cover at the back. Midfield would be sorted with Santos, Bruno, Youri, Tchouameni, Mount and one of the U21s. Attack is stacked with Rashford back at the club as a super sub, plus guaranteed goals from Watkins

I would see what we can do with making reasonable offers for players who have one year left on their contract eg Mateta and (I think) Konsa. £25-30m each would feel like good business.

With the rest of the funds, Hall and Tchouameni make most sense if they’re available and I would then call Madrid in the last week of August and ask who Jose has fallen out with that we might sign on a season long loan with an option to buy.

I would loan out Vitek, Kamason, Amass, Thwaites, Devaney, Chido and Ibragimov with a view to potentially promoting them for 27/28 season and keep the Fletchers, Gore, Lacey, Ajayi and Gabriel around the 21s and fringes of the first team squad for this coming season.

Looking to future windows I would want to sign Kayode, Vuskovic, Bouaddi, Gibbs White and Kroupi (if he recovers OK from this injury).

Is Kayode 65m better than Dalot? Not a special fullback at all, or what am I missing?

With a few sensible sales, make that say £150m left.

Amass -£6m
Zirkzee - £20m
Vitek - £10m
Martinez - £30m

I’d go with a few experienced signings to get us in a position to challenge for the title.

Bruno G - £80m
Robinson - £35m
Watkins - £40m

Lammens
Heaton

Maz De Ligt Heaven Robinson
Dalot Maguire Yoro Shaw

Bruno G Mainoo
Tielemans Santos

Mbeumo Bruno Cunha
Amad Cunha Dorgu

Sesko
Watkins

Would then need to look at a backup keeper, new RB and a Bruno back up/ replacement.

Forgot about Mount and Rashford, they can be next in line.

I'd find a LB\CB style signing in the mould of Calafiori. More bang for your buck. Would like them to be in the 21-24 range so a good scope for development, but wouldn't mind a cheaper more experienced option. 35m ish or less. I think you could spot some really good bargains here. I think Krejci at Wolves could a be a shrewd pick up, otherwise the likes of Nelson or someone else with potential could be got for way under £35m

I'd be going for Baleba, I think he'll end up being better value than others. I think provided the fee is built so he has to be a success here, it's fine to go up to £70m.

I think a versatile forward would top it all off nicely, someone with some real pace. I'd probably look at Sarr at Palace - could be quite expensive though. If not PL proven, Vivell must know someone in the RB pipeline, we can snag a bargain on. perhaps get the scouts to pick their best prospect striking prospect, outside of Europe and see what falls out.

I think that's probably gonna be in the realms of £150M, so would try and put a lot of it with incentives and shift whoever I could make decent profit on - Vitek, Zirkzee, Rashford, Mazraoui.

Spend most of it on Bastoni. Move Martinez to LB to compete with Shaw. One of them should be fit at a time, and he has played very well there for Argentina before. We need a world class player coming into the team like Bastoni to improve.
Then sell Vitek(with buy back), Zirkzee, Collyer, and any other not needed players we can to get a 4th CM. Either a cheap prospect Lammens style or ready made possible Loan to buy.
Obviously sell Rashford if there is a decent offer, but this seems unlikely. Could probably get a decent striker to replace him as funds would increase after shifting his wages.

Also if anyone can give me a like, I need some to start posting more on here. Cheers.

Can’t believe some of you are willing to sell Martinez for 30m

Crazy.

We’d be mad to turn down 30m for him, he doesn’t even play 50% of our games and not long left on his contract. Doesn’t really matter though as no one would pay that for him.

Wait, you think Sesko is relegated to backup striker to Mbeumo?

Replace him for 30m..

You can spend more than 30m as making some PSR profit and you only have to replace a player who started 13 league so even a squad player covers it.

Not taking 30m for him would be just repeating same old mistakes of either having to renew when he can’t get on the pitch or lose him for free and have no money towards a replacement.

It’s not very often we get 30m towards replacing anyone and we rarely buy a replacement for the same as what we sold someone for.
