Youth transfers and rumours thread.

That's interesting. I mentioned earlier on another thread how both Dean Henderson and James Trafford both played for Carlisle at young ages before joining United and City respectively. Interesting to read so soon after about another young keeper that we've signed from Carlisle at around a similar age.

So to summarize - if you are a talented goalkeeper from Carlisle then:
a) You are playing for United
b) You have played for United
c) You have been linked to United and have a name associated with United....

And the other talented player I can think of coming from Carlisle - was Branthwaite :)

Donkor has only been at the club just over a year hasn't he?!

United are leading the chase for highly-rated Southampton centre back Harley Emsden-James, and could sign the teenager for £1m in compensation.

A number of Premier League clubs have been tracking Emsden-James, 16, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, but United are hoping that they have won the race for the England youth international thanks to the influence of technical director Jason Wilcox, who worked for Saints before moving to Old Trafford.

According to DailyMail

We have 2 quality CB prospects in that group in Ngwashi and J.Watson so that's an interesting news (maybe someone will play LB).

Would think that attackers should be priority for that group in terms of signing.

Unless he grows, I'm not convinced Watson will be a CB in the long-term.

So that's the first confirmed signing of the season. I think we have to sign a striker too.

Didn’t we already sign Enzo Kana-Biyik from Le Havre? Explosive 18 year old striker. I thought he agreed terms to join this summer when his contract expires and it was an officially done deal. Or did I miss a development (or lack of)?

He was rumoured to have signed and would be loaned out to Lusanne.

I meant for the u18 teams. Enzo - as you pointed out is presumably going to loan Lusanne.

Yeah I wasn’t sure because he came from Le Havre U19s. He has signed though right?

All the reliable reporters are reporting he has. But no official confirmation so far. Similar with Diego Leon.

Not seen it reported anywhere else but have heard it from a very good source who would have no reason to lie - we’ve apparently signed Charlie Hardy from Derby, England U16 keeper

Would make sense. We probably need a keeper in this age group.

I watched him once in an England U16 match and was really impressed.

They've taken your post and made it into a tweet.

There’s a few ITKs pretty shamelessly running it now.

£800k is the agreed fee I’m told - see if anyone wants to run with that :D

Don't think this will have any impact on them but his two younger brothers are both with us. Like last summer, Chelsea and City have seemingly scrapped their 'pact' and are going blow for blow.

Didn't realise you could offer players of that age 6 year deals.

Pact broken for McAidoo?
Or was there any other player who moved first?

What's actually on offer for a 13/14 year old in a deal like this that would encourage/motivate a family to uproot and move to the other side of the country. Like surely, the City academy must have facilities that are the rough equal of Chelsea's so what's the incentive (not like he's getting first team football promised).

Maybe the parents just wanted to move to London? Could be for any reason

I doubt the whole family is moving, he’s most likely going to stay with a host family over there.

Ah, I see. Could we have done something similar with JJ? Mutually agreed a pro deal for him in advance?

We would have absolutely put it on the table, yeah. But just like with McGillvary the player can still choose to leave at 16 even if he pre-signs a scholarship.

Chido did the same at Arsenal but still left for us.

Oh right. Didn't realise you could pre-sign a scholarship and then leave. Makes sense though. Two years is a long time in football. Anything can change. Cheers.

TSS on our lack of academy intakes this season even below u16 level whilst City have gone crazy.

Athletic say we are in talks. Both special talents.

Manchester United are in talks to sign two 16-year-old midfielders regarded as among the finest in the country.
Seth Ridgeon, England under-17s captain, and Tyrese Noubissie, who is set to depart Manchester City, are considering offers from United.
The approaches, spearheaded by United’s head of academy recruitment Luke Fedorenko and director of academy Nick Cox, are part of the renewed drive to bring in what the club sees as some of the best skilled teenagers at British academies.
Ridgeon, an attacking midfielder currently at Fulham, has attracted interest from City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, but United are believed to lead the race should he leave Craven Cottage. Fulham are fighting hard to keep him, but United have made an impressive proposal.

Saw an account a while back say Noubissie was going back to Leicester, so this is interesting.

I would be suprised if we get both though. Especially as it limits our number of scholars for next year, a very strong & large group.
