So what's the likely Arsenal team?

------------Chesney
Sagna-Djourou-Vermaelen-Jenkinson
--------------Ramsey
-------Rosicky------Lansbury?
Walcott-------------------Arshavin
--------------Van Persie

I think Jenkinson will be right-back and Sagna left-back, just like against Liverpool.

Before our pre-season friendly against Chicago Fire I was 'revolutionising match-day threads', Elvis made them shit...

I'll ask in here as well, and maybe a couple of other threads

Is SAF still on that run of games where he changes the line-up from the previous game?

EDIT
Doesn't matter, I found out the answer, it's no, it ended after 167 games away to Chelsea

All of you predicting landslide wins I fear will be disappointed tomorrow!
I really hope I'm proven wrong, but I really think it'll be a lot harder than expected.

It was a public vote, and it seems that the invincibles (even though they lost a couple of times that season) holds more weight than the treble in the eyes of the public.

The treble team was better. The invincibles (but please don't count cups and europe)

Arshavin due to form and consistency? Wow. He'd be better off using the comparative sizes of Nani's head and Arshavin's ass as justification.

Interesting that form doesn't seem to count in the Ramsey v Cleverley duel. Maybe because Ramsey has been very poor so far, his goal against Udinese aside.

Remind me, what has Vermaelen done to be considered better than Rio Ferdinand who, in all likelihood, won't play? Doing well against Andy Carroll won't cut it as an argument.

 what's laughable about that?

The only 1 of them that is laughable is Arshavin over Nani.

There's not much between PIG and DeGea (PIG looks beter ATM).
Sagna is a better right back than Smalling.
Vermaelen is absolute class so it's a close call.
Ramsey and Cleverley are both promising young players.

Well that for a start.

What has Vermaelen currently done in the game to put him anywhere near Rio's class?

Its not even close.
This for me was the only valid funny smilie. But Vermalen is good.

The others, 2 years ago we would all have agreed with the Arshavin one.

Their keeper as of right now looks more impressive. Ramsey as of right now is ahead of Cleverley. And Sagna is easily ahead of Smalling at right back.

CW's post sums it up really. Utd fans are so fecking stupid at times
How is it stupid? Rio and Nani were pivotal players in our recent success, De Gea was easily one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world last season for Atletico. Cleverley and Ramsey is a close call but I've not got the hype about the latter, and I've never really rated Sagna, whereas I really, really rate Smalling.

I would agree with your assessment of those apart from Rio vs Vermaelen which is one World class CB in Rio vs a good CB in Vermaelen. Thats really the only one I take issue with to be honest but its such a non-contest that it needed to be highlighted.

I think Rio is better than Vermaelen. I just don't think it's laughable that someone may prefer him to Rio. Just because he's spent a year injured doesn't mean he's suddenly gone shit. He's absolute class. 4th best centre half in the league I reckon.

In which case you're just as biased as you imply the writer of the article is.

Rubbish he's good but has been guilty of defensive mistakes this season alone that people would slaughter Rio for.

As for underestimating a player due to injury thats exactly what you are doing with Rio if you think its even close, one has perfomed consistantly in the highest company for at least 6 years, the other simply hasn't done it yet at that level. No contest.

Were Rio to get fit enough to have an uninterpted string of 20-30 games you'd soon remember how much of a gulf in class there is between the two. Vermaelen is good but he would be backup to both Rio and Vidic if he played for United he would never get a look in for the starting 11 of a big game if Rio or Vidic were fit.

As for 4th best defender in the league i'd go along with that as long as the top 3 were Rio, vidic and possibly Kompany. However the gap between the top 2 and the rest is sizable.

Will be a tough game, and you don't give out points cheaply at your gaff. Boys are going to have a lot on their plate tomorrow, I'm expecting a good game. The Udinese result looks to have lifted the spirit up in the camp and brought some of the belief back, that was sorely missing before.

What the fecking feck. This is Rio we're talking about. Vermaelen might be good, but he isn't close.

Among all the clueless stuff written about football, Arshavin over Nani takes some beating!
