Australian A-League All Stars v Manchester United
Saturday 20 July 2013,
ANZ Stadium (10:30 BST)
Reds to visit Sydney

Manchester United is to travel to Sydney to play a friendly match against the Australian A-League All Stars as part of Tour 2013, presented by Aon.
This will be only the fifth visit the club has made to Australia, the first being in 1967. The team last played there as Treble winners in 1999.

Announcing the game, United chief executive David Gill said: "The game and training camp that will take place in Sydney will be an important part of the team’s preparation for the 2013/14 season. We are delighted to accept the invitation from the New South Wales Government and the Football Federation Australia to visit one of the world's truly great cities.

"There are three main reasons we go on pre-season tour. First and foremost is the team’s preparation for the season ahead. But the tour also allows us to engage with our global fan base and network of commercial partners. It has been a while since we last visited Sydney and we are looking forward to renewing our relationship with our loyal and enthusiastic Australian fans."
The whole Manchester United first team will train in Sydney for six days, playing the game on 20 July at the Sydney ANZ Stadium.

Van Persie and De Gea have joined the squad.
Sell Goggs. Sack Moyes.

Massive reaction needed - losing the first game and first bit of silverware of pre-season means that we can't mess about in this one. The team have to respond. Strongest possible line-up in terms of form and reputation needed:

De Gea
Rafael===Ferdinand===Evans==-Fabio
Zaha===Carrick===Cleverley===Giggs
Januzaj
RVP
No messing about this time :nono:
Seriously, I hope Fabio and Januzaj get another start to build on their good work in the Thailand game; likewise Zaha will I'm sure be confident in his own performance when he came on to make an interesting starter in this one. I wouldn't mind Michael Keane starting this one, but with a week's rest then it might be better to play Rio and Evans to help their fitness and rhythm since we could well be starting them against Swansea.

I was really delighted that Moyes gave youth a chance in the last game. And it is very refreshing to hear his quotes on giving youth a chance to make it here, mentioning Will Keane too.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing our own youngsters come through. I hope we continue to use them, with a blend of experience.

Swap Giggs with Lingard, I'd also like to see Michael Keane get a game.

Lingard in for Giggs, but otherwise I like Antisocial's lineup.

Oh, and maybe start Evra this time, just to make sure everyone is getting game time.

Good shout on Lingard - he looked promising in his cameo and deserves the chance to start.

For those who don't know this team won't be an actual reflection of last seasons "all stars" as most are injured, have left the league, pulled out or are on National duty.

Brett Emerton has to be the worst player to ever be called an All star. Nobody thinks he's good. No one. He's absolute garbage. He was so bad that even Osieck stopped picking him for the socceroos. Now he's captain. I hope he kicks in a hat trick of own goals.

Sydney FC 2012/13: 7th place.
Brett Emerton: 22 appearances. 3 goals. 2 assists.

In contrast -
Chris Harold: 22 Appearances. 3 goals. Age 20.
Marceloa Carrusca: 22 Appearances. 5 goals.
Andrew Nabbout: 21 Appearances. 4 goals. Age 20.
Yairo Yau: 18 Appearances: 6 goals.

I can't be bothered looking up more statistics but there are better younger Australian wingers. Better foreign wingers and all round better players. Emerton's stats aren't only terrible for an All Star captain, his performances were abysmal as well.

I can't get fired up about the pre-season just yet. Right now I'm in Portland to check out the Timbers and the Galaxy. A fantastic crowd, a magnificent stadium and stunning weather. Let's hope the game itself, which will start in 15 minutes, lives up to the hype!

Sorry Ghaliboy you're talking shit, Sydney were garbage last year and Emerton was one of the worst. Face facts. At the very least ADP deserved to be selected. Brett Emerton's inclusion is based on name alone. Nobody rates Emerton and why would they?

Yeah I know, I'm just shit stirring. Emmo has been injured a fair bit though in his defense.

I think it's asking about meeting the players. Sadly, if I knew how I could meet Manchester United's staff or players I'd be doing it myself.

No I think he's wanting to meet his childhood heroes - the A-League All Stars. If anybody can get him in touch with Brett Emerton I think he'd be honoured to hear his words of inspiration

Looking forward to this match. Heading over for the match and it will be the first time I will have seen United live.

Hopefully we can get some chants organised. I'd hate for this to be a typical boring/theater-goer/no atmosphere friendly. I'm close to the 'United End' so if it's not happening I'll try and probably look like an idiot.
I'm sure at the very least we can get an 'OOOOOH Robin Van Persie' chant going.

Bloody hell, it's a couple of days since the first friendly and I'm already gagging for more football. The summer break's been too long.

Looks like it's going to be on Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) in the US ... have it set to record, can't bring myself to wake up at 4:30 for a pre-season game.
