So since I've watched pretty much all the top rated TV Shows I've decided to delve into anime series. I'm pretty clued up on the top movies but series are an untapped resource to me so.... what can you guys recommend?

So far I've seen...

Angel Beats: Entertaining and original.

Highschool of the Dead: Thought this was gonna be awesome until I noticed that it was pretty much softcore hentai with zombies. What the feck is wrong with japan.

Death Note: Absolutely fecking incredible. 9 episodes in and this is exactly the sorta thing I've been hoping to find.

I actually enjoyed High School of the Dead, but I do feel it got progressively worse as the series went on. My favourites ever are probably:

Chobits - A kid doesn't get into college, so he moves to Japan to go to a 'prep school'. Since Japan's technology is far more advanced, they have things called persocoms. They're basically robot servants, in a way. You can access the internet with them, and they're all women. They look just like humans except they have weird covers over their ears.

Love Hina - Basically hentai but so funny. Similar to Chobits minus the robots.

Fairy Tail - This one is more like your general super hero / fighting anime. It's about mages, using different kinds of magic to defeat enemies, but it's also really funny. Could probably be compared to Naruto but mages instead of ninjas. enjoyed it so far but it's long and still ongoing so might not be worth getting into now.

Sword Art Online - The anime for this is relatively new, less than 30 episodes so far. It's about a virtual reality video game, but someone takes over it with an expansion and you're stuck in there until you die or you complete the game. However, due to the programming, if you die in the game, you die in real life. If someone tries to remove the headset from you in real life, you die in real life. Really interesting.

However, if you're only looking for dubs, some of these don't have them yet or they suck in English. I'll try to add some more later but got to shoot off to work now!

Sword Art Online sounds really cool, I'll give that one a go. I'm fine with dubs or subs really. Prefer dubbed if it's good but either way is good.

Yeah Highschool of the Dead lost me when it decided to throw all the girls naked into a hot tub and have them squeeze eachothers boobs. I guess the lurid panty shots forwarned me but that seriously came from nowhere!

Berserk.

Not the new movies, they are nice but lacks alot of depth and flavour of the original series even though it's unfinished and low low budget, the story is pretty tragic and oddly touching.

Guts is so cool.

Not sure if this is the right anime thread, thought there was one before but whatever. If anyone hasn't seen it yet last year's Attack on Titan was good, certainly the best recent anime. The manga is also very good and continues. Its a little bloody and morbid in the spirit of the likes of Claymore and Berserk but its entertaining.

Bleach- very long and it got shit towards the end. But the first few story arcs are incredible. Think HIMYM. Great at the beginning, dragged on too long but I think it's worth it. That is, if you're up for watching ~200 episodes (there's ~350 eps but as I said, got shit towards the end and there are a lot of 'filler' episodes which were made so that the anime wouldn't overtake the manga).

Ouran High School Host Club- not sure if it appeals to males, but it has a certain charm about it.

Soul Eater- people wielding cool weapons.

When it comes to all the big anime series(Naruto, One Piece etc) I just skip the filler arcs. They all tend to be pretty crap. I also thought Bleach got much better towards the end after lulling in the middle. Not as good as the first three series but better than the early hueco mundo stuff. Unless you are talking about the very last season which I didn't bother with.

I really liked the first 50 episodes or so of Bleach, then I watched about 100 episodes just to find out how it all turned out, then I just stopped watching.

The plot for Soul Eater is fine, it does have an anime-only ending so... Yeah not so good at that point. The manga is good too.

Dark Star too stronk
