So it's only pathetic when I do it? It's all fair game and reasonable for many members of this website to have an 18 month obsession with Suarez's certain transfer away from Liverpool...but a single thread on a United player and it's pathetic.

Maybe it's just the transfer season and this kind of stuff pops up a bit? If there's no story then fair enough.
It's a Manchester United forum, they have places like RAWK for your kind, what are you honestly expecting?

Madrid's two-year pursuit of Suarez is well documented, and included a whole saga last summer when he was actively trying to leave.

Januzaj has only recently committed to a new five year contract with us, and this is a one-off rumour with no substance behind it whatsoever. Chalk and cheese.

Our fans attitude to Adnan smacks so much of an inferiority complex.

Right after his Sunderland performance, I was seeing many people saying that he will end up at Madrid or Barcelona one day, and almost aappeared to be honoured. This was in the absence of any serious links of him to Real or Barca, it was just stated to basically emphasise the point that they think he will become a top player, as if it is to be celebrated that we have a player they might want.

First, the rule was apparently if they are of Latin origin, we must accept they will go to Spain. Now it is of they are very good. Not none of this 'we are equal to other good teams on the basis of being more than a sum of our parts' spiel, but players who are genuinely brilliant as individuals.

Signing one or two top players for big money this summer would certainly help repair a few things both on and off the pitch. Show a few people that we are no mugs either. Adnan is going nowhere I wouldn't think. He is very well paid, at a globally huge club and is probably on the verge of being turned into a real superstar and the new face of United. But we need to get over this theory that we don't deserve special players at their peak here, perhaps only potential superstars who need somewhere to brush up before Madrid, or past it ones who need a room after Madrid.

Januzaj won't stick around unless United pull their finger out and assemble another squad capable of really competing on all fronts. If we fall further behind and go through an inevitable drought, Madrid or Barca will sign him.
That much is obvious. I was referring to people saying this since September, where we were champions and didn't yet know the extent of Moyes ' cancerous effect.

God, I absolutely hate Real Madrid, it's a disgusting club, run by disgusting individuals (Hypocritical I know). The cnut's always want to buy our best players, Ronaldo, Beckham etc, I'm absolutely sick of them. When have they ever sold us a decent player?

I have enjoyed watching Pep's Barcelona make them look even more pathetic over recent years.. When Messi fecked them over on their own turf and knocked them out of the Champions League

Back to the topic, I'm pretty confident of keeping Januzaj anyway, but if worse comes to worse, I would completely rinse them of a lot of money. Something like Bale + £50million would do the trick.

Bale rejected us last summer and would probably do so again sadly.

Why did you bump this thread just to say that? This is the transfer forum.

Part of my concern about us signing a winger like Sanchez would be it limiting the gametime of Januzaj, and edge him closer to considering a move away if another top team came in for him.

It would be more of a statement of trust and intent for us not to sign a winger (and ditch Young) and let Adnan know he is first choice next season (fewer games so I wouldn't be worried about him burning himself out either), and give him the #7 jersey.

Whilst I don't think it is likely, I'm sure none of us would want another Pogba situation on our hands (yes I am aware that it is different, just an example).

I don't think we should turn down signing a quality winger on the level of Sanchez/Di Maria on the basis that Januzaj "might" want a move away because of it. He's 19, he can't expect to play every game and if he lives up to his potential then he'll earn his spot on the team sheet and he'll nail it down. Januzaj plays now while Valencia/Young/Nani do too, I'd much rather see Januzaj and Sanchez on either side than Januzaj and Young.

Why though ? Sanchez/ Winger XYZ on one side. Januzaj on the other. Seems sound to me. :)

Edit : Anyway I hope he's not swayed by Madrid, Barcelona or PSG. By all accounts we're building a good team for the future - The core is solid with De Gea, Januzaj, Ander, Mata, Shaw, Jones, Rafael maybe the likes Wilson and Pereira. It's a really good foundation of players around 25 or younger. Another couple of key additions and the future looks extremely bright.

Januzaj is one of the biggest talents in the world, we shouldn't let anything stand in the way of his development imo. I would hate to bring in a winger without at least 1 player leaving

We have currently got Valencia, Nani, Young, Kagawa, Mata, Welbeck and Rooney potentially as wide players in addition to Januzaj. Now some of those may leave (Young), others will be playing other positions but that is still a pretty crowded attack.

People need to remember that we have fewer games next season. We won't need, or be able to rotate a large squad as much as in previous years.

Again why would another top quality winger threaten Adnan's development. He's already kind of cornered one wing spot. The new addition can have the other. Between our current wingers I doubt anyone could dislodge Januzaj. If anything he could take his game up a couple of notches with the infusion of good talent to push his development.

this is only assuming we are willing to pay mata kagawa valencia young nani zaha a combined 500,000 a week all to sit on the bench

Ok but this past season showed us that Januzaj is a more effective winger than Valencia, Nani or Young.

As for Mata, Rooney, Kagawa I might be wrong but it'll be a bad idea to stick them out wide. They are all much more effective centrally and having them on wing (even with the freedom to drift in ) will inevitably affect the balance of the team. It was noted last season with Kagawa and Mata looking much sharper centrally and this WC will Rooney being great behind Sturridge but struggling a bit out on the left. Of course I'm not presuming that it will not work out. But If we look around - the recent success of Bayern or Madrid is playing the correct personnel on the wings (Ribery/ Robben or Ronaldo/ Bale). Not shunting out central attackers out wide at the expense of tactical cohesion. It's just not a sustainable model. Again this is just IMO and I could be wrong. :) That saud I think we should play our best players in their natural positions rather than shoehorning them in just to pacify everyone.

Hmm that's a good point mate. :) And this may sound cruel to the current options but I'd rather sell some of them if it prevents us from signing a top top notch wideman (like Sanchez, Reus or J Rodriguez). Just as I'd prefer selling some of the CMs if it facilitates the arrival of worldclass talent. Our aim should always be quality over quantity. Again this may not happen but it's what I'd like the club to do.

My point remains that we have too many players. I am sure the club has a plan in this respect, but we need to see some outgoing movement if we do plan on signing any more attacking players. Or even sending some out on loan to thin the numbers.

Januzaj is right up LVG's street, no chance he'll be going this summer. He's closest thing we have to Robben, and LVG has consistently built teams around this type of player. Could see Januzaj being our first name on the team sheet by mid-end of this season.
