Praying to have a guy on top of him
Remember when we didn't win the Watney Cup?
After O'Farrell's last - a 5-0 humiliation at Palace.I was at the Liverpool match. There was a lot of trouble that day with fans running from the Stretford End across the pitch to attack the Scousers in the Scoreboard. It was 1-0 at HT after Wyn Davies bundled the ball over the line.MacDougall's goal was pretty good, scoring from an angle from a pass by Tony Young. His goal against Leeds (Docherty's first game in charge) was a tap in after Willie Morgan had cut Leeds apart on their left.
Changed. Only just noticed.1966 ?
I posted this one a while back as the goal that never was. I was in the Stretford End that night just to the left of the goal. I couldn't swear that the ball crossed the line but Law's reaction was convincing. Spent half the night dodging missiles thrown at the Milan goalie, Cudicini. In his book, Denis states that the ball was definitely over the line and that the Milan full back kicked it back into play.A tie that maybe should have gone to a replay?
United v Milan, May 1969 - European Cup semi final.
Bobby Charlton and Gianni Rivera before the leg in Milan. United lost 2-0.
Denis Law thinks he's scored to make it 2-2 on aggregate at Old Trafford. Goal not given, United win 1-0 but go out. I think the replay would have been played in Belgium.
I have to say I'm not sure it crossed the line.
I wasn't there. I was 8 listening on the radio in our freezing kitchen.
As did Busby post match, who was really angry.I posted this one a while back as the goal that never was. I was in the Stretford End that night just to the left of the goal. Yep. We should have won that game.1966 ?
I'm not going to argue with the King and Sir Matt. Here's another view.As did Busby post match, who was really angry.
I'm just not sure it did...
Well, if it did go in I'm happy for there to be a replay!I'm not going to argue with the King and Sir Matt. Here's another view.
And here's the man who started it all off that season...
1990 again. Clayton Blackmore has just scored the winning goal in the 4th round tie at Hereford.
Yeah, and some great goals against them.
As we're on the subject of Denis Law, here's one that did count. He liked scoring against Palace.
Actually, I did. But grew out of them quickly and it was all cheap boots afetr
Ever own a pair of these? All I could afford then was a pair from Timpsons.
Albion maybe, or it could be Sheffield Wednesday.Yeah, and some great goals against them.
Let's stay on Law.
Chatting to Ron Yeats.
And to a photographer.
Against West Brom. Fitzpatrick, Astle and Talbot in shot.
Against Don Howe (Arsenal) in one of those weird coloured in photos.
Scoring against Arsenal. Herd in shot. Ure and McLintock, the central defenders nowhere near.
A goal, no idea against who though.
Wednesday, I think.Albion maybe, or it could be Sheffield Wednesday.
Did Bestie ever wear them? My school friend got the maroon pair for his birthday and we both tried them. i thought they were uncomfortable. Half way into the season he was back in his Timpsons.
