Do you expect us to stop with signing Paul Pogba? With D. Castles claiming mourinho is after an experienced CB, coupled with reports Matuidi holding out for us, do you feel we should be signing another? If so, what position or who?

Personally I don't think our team is as complete as it can be even if we sign Pogba. I think we can do with signings in both positions given the drain of Europa League.

We need a CB, RB and another winger.

But those all depend on outgoings.

A CB and a RB are both needed, not sure I can see them happening this window though.

No chance of Matuidi if we sign Pogba, wouldn't make sense to buy two expensive midfielders in one Summer.

Bailly, Mkhitaryan and Zlatan are excellent signings. I think if we sign Pogba, it'll be our last. If we don't sign Pogba, we might go for Matuidi and another player.

We'll look at bringing in a RB and a CB more than likely. Still reckon we need a right winger and another midfielder, but that's probably asking too much for one window.

I think we'll see a few outgoings soon, and then a few squad-signing replacements. I think we remain vigil for an 'experienced CB' but I don't think we'll find out just this summer.

Well for one because Matuidi wouldn't be expensive.

I think that if he signs, we'll be done after Pogba unless we can quickly shift a few players. If Pogba doesn't sign though, I think we'll buy Matuidi and a CB/RB.

What we could do with, if Pogba signs, is a CB or RB (CB if we play Bailly at RB, RB if we play Bailly at CB) and CM or RW (CM if we're definitely playing Rooney and Mkhitarayan has to play RW, RW if we play Mkhi where Rooney used to be).

Right back and defensive midfielder. Both problems could be sorted by signing Fabinho who seems to be very capable at both. Maybe a RW too, Gabriel or someone more gettable like Ounas, just for a different option off the bench.

I think that will be it, Jose has said as much.

With a midfield three of Rooney/Herrera, Pogba and Schneiderlin the defence will be well enough protected to play Blind (or Bailly when he's settled in) alongside Smalling. We needed a right winger and an established striker. We have both.

We could do with a couple of promising youngsters - most notably at RB. If experienced and quality CB appears, we should be all over him but I don't know who - Juve won't sell Bonucci on top of Pogba, Boateng and Hummels will stay at Bayern, Silva at PSG, the Spanish clubs won't sell their leaders.

Are they ? I've heard the likes of Witsel and Matic being mentioned.
Yeah, Di Marzio said it earlier today.

Anyhow, I think Rojo is on his way out, so we need a new CB. We could use a RB and a DM, not sure who. There aren't any obvious candidates on the market.

Man City are close to securing Sané, Moreno & Gabriel Jesus.

For me this tips them ahead of us if they land Stones. As they have addressed the weak area.

Even if we secure Pogba I think we'd have a very strong XI but still a weak squad.

So many players in the current squad that probably aren't good enough and won't offer us anything.

RB - Darmian has not convinced. Valencia is good. Fosu-Mensah still looks like a midfielder playing out of position. Fabinho needed.

CM - Even with Pogba brought in not sold that our central midfield is all that. Carrick & Schweinsteiger are aging have no legs to run a midfield and are injury prone.

Blind has a fantastic eye for a pass but even he is not very mobile. Herrera-Schneiderlin are promising and talent but I don't think they proved they can replace Carrick yet.

What people fail to realise with Pogba is he needs world class players around him. He has never ran a midfield he is used to having Pirlo, Vidal, Khedira, Marchisio etc.

He is going to have a much weaker partner next to him. I think we need someone like Blaise Matuidi to get the best out of Pogba.

CB - Rojo/Jones should not be at United they are both terrible. Some talk of Bonucci. I'd welcome it.

RW -
This goes back to the RB is some ways. Our RB/RM/RW. The right side of our team is considerably weak. Yes we have Mata & Mkhitaryan who both operate as false wingers or no.10's.

Where I think we'll struggle is when you look at the options beyond them two. Martial is explosive with pace will take on his man with Shaw behind him. That side looks exciting.

Contrast that to the RB/RW. I think this is where we very weak. Lingard, Young, Memphis - Are not going to offer us any consistency they are three players I doubt any of them made your fantasy league team. Young sometimes decent cross on him. Lingard decent squad player. Memphis does not look like he can handle life at Man Utd.

Not sure what Memphis' position is. No.10.ST or LW looks weak and clueless in all three.

Point is beyond Mata/Mkhitaryan we don't have someone who can change a winger on the right with pace. Januzaj for me is actually a better bet than all three of those.

I think we need a Draxler or Mahrez. To match the excitement of the left side.

I think addressing these areas will be critical if we wish to mount a serious title challenge. We need to offload certain players who will simply make up the numbers and offer limited amount.

We definitely need a CB IMO. I don't know how good is Bailly, Smalling and Blind are both decent but not great and the other two CBs we have are completely useless.

I am happy with other parts of the squad. I don't want Matuidi, not because I don't rate him (I think he's very good) but a midfield of Pogba-Matuidi with Rooney as No.10 will be very unbalanced. I think that Darmian can do quite a good job in RB position.

Signings of top quality young players like Archangel Lord are always welcome and hoping that we will get at least one top prospect. The thoughts of City getting both Sane and Jesus aren't nice.

Yep, there's really not anyone available that we should go for in terms of central defence. I don't see why after shelling out £30m for Bailly, one of the most promising defenders in La Liga, we'd need to go out and buy someone for an even bigger fee. Bailly & Smalling will be our main pair, then Jones, Blind and Rojo (provided he doesn't leave) as back up options. If Rojo goes we might sign someone else but it won't be a big money signing, rather an experienced, cheap back up (someone like Cahill but not Cahill). I imagine we won't have funds left to pursue Bonucci and Fabinho if we sign Pogba, that'd take our Summer spending to almost £300m and we were heavy spenders the past two seasons too.

If I'm Jose, I'm offering every player under the sun to Juve for a cash plus deal for Bonucci - as in £50 plus Mata, Fellaini, Rojo, Darmian, Schweinsteiger etc. Removing the wages of those five alone would lower the fee and clean up the squad for a few youngsters.

A player who plays the same position and role as him? He needs support sure, but Matuidi is not it.

Will be interesting to see who we go for in CM after the Pogba saga is over and who we try to sign as an alternative

I think if we want a statement signing, it might be worth using some of that unspent £100m in trying to entice Hazard or something. Then getting a "reliable" CM instead. I think Pogba is the only match winning CM around

Pogba is best suited to a forward role. Blaise can cover much ground and operate deeper but he also is good at forward passes.

Don't get me wrong I am not Matuidi's biggest fan. I would've prefered Gomes or Pjanić. I don't see any other CM we could attract.

I would like us to get an older, experienced centre back, who doesn't necessarily have to start every game but can do a good job when he comes in and will be a strong head at the back. I have no idea who this phantom player is, but that's what scouts are for.

A new RB would be very nice too, though not essential, as I don't think Valencia is a terrible RB and Darmian might just have been shit due to LVG last year.

It would also be interesting to see how much money we could get from the players we'll sell.

If I was Jose, I would try to sell all of Rojo, Jones, Young, Fellaini and Mata. I think that we can get 50-80m pounds from them, which in turn can finance the signings of a top quality young attacking player (hopefully Gabriel Jesus) and an experienced CB who might act both as a cover or starting player (someone who is good, but not great like Bonucci, and so wouldn't cost more than 15m or so pounds).

Mourinho has been very clear that he wants four 'fundamental' signings and anyone after that is 'supplementary' and dependent on outgoings.

So if we start shifting out the likes of Jones and Rojo then we might buy a centre back. If it's Mata and Memphis that get sold then we might buy a winger. I certainly wouldn't expect any more big signings though. We'll be looking for cheaper players who won't expect to start every week.

If we do spend the £100m-£140m on Pogba or whatever the figure is being plucked out of the air today then I suspect we will see our activities focus more on shipping players out as we will have quite a bloated squad and some good young prospects.

If somebody becomes available we are tracking (like martial) then Im sure we will be involved and no doubt there will be talk of last minute deals and messi / ronaldo being sighted at Manchester airport come deadline day but I think our main focus (after pogba - or whatever our back up options are (saul please!)) will be shifting on a couple out of Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Schweinstiger,

I think we still need a CB, probably an RB and maybe another pacey option for RW. I'd like to see us have a bit of a clear out first though, there's a few players in the squad there really shouldn't be there any more.

With Pogba we will have signed 4 players and with no major departures. People are saying we still need a winger, CM, CB, and RB.

RW - Jesus
CM - Matuidi
RB - Fabinho
CB - Manolas? No idea who else we have been linked with

The first 3 are the ones we have been linked most with in each position and I guess Manolas has been the most linked CB option. While this is all well and good I highly doubt we will sign 8 players in one window. Fabinho can play DM and RB so he is maybe a likely option, Jesus is an option presumably only to beat City to him if we view him as a talent like Martial. Matuidi, I don't know, if Fabinho can play DM as well as RB then Matuidi might be put on ice (Yes I know they are different players). Manolas or another CB, I would hazard a guess that we will not bring in a new CB with Bailly already in. Fabinho maybe as a RB with departures such as Darmain and Rojo, McNair, and Blackett. Tuanzebe and Williams then can replace them as backup CB's while TFM can be backup RB/DM.

I was actually referring to that fee as him being expensive.

Its not expensive - he's a quality player, an established France international. We are looking at spending 100m on Pogba and just dropped over 30 on Mkhitaryan.

When you consider what we still need, it's criminal how this squad has been developed over the last few years.
In fairness on paper
..............................Valdes......................
Darmain..........Rojo..............Blind......Shaw
.............Schneiderlin.....Schweinstiger........
Di Maria..................Mata...................Martial
............................Falcao............................

could/should have been good additions - along with depay, fellaini and herrera but its unfortunate that football is not played on paper.... though Shaw and Martial have probably exceeded expectations so far (when fit)

Hopefully the new additions this season have a bit better success rate, shaw comes back well from injury and Jose can get Darmain and schneiderlin playing well as they are key positions for us to improve in - and getting some consistency out Depay and the squad will suddenly look pretty good

CB, definitely. RB, maybe. CM, depends on who we sell.
