Czibor would have been great for him. Maybe a more collective player than Dzajic.
And a proven pair. Puskas wasn't on the pitch when those two led the Magyars to victory against a Uruguay unbeaten in World Cups. For years it was called "the match of the Century" and even today you would struggle to find 5 more closely contested games.

Yeah, I think it was established quite conclusively that he played from the right for much of that season. Its a bit unfair that you have to deal with that particular argument again in this match TBH.

As regards your attack, there's no doubt that Blokhin and Stoichkov will provide width and are lethal starting from there and driving at the defence. Raees does have a point in that they don't seem like they're going to provide Kocsis with the stream of crosses that he'd ideally like though. Also, have you got much on Kocsis' link up play/assisting? Its an aspect of his game that I'm unsure about, as the likes of Puskas/Hidegkuti are inevitably the ones that catch the eye in that regard when watching clips from that Hungary team. On that note, I can't help but think that Hidegkuti as a facilitating false 9 would have been fecking great in the centre of your attack instead.
He was pretty technically gifted for a goalscoring centre forward of his ilk and had nifty link up play. Like you mention, playing alongside the likes of Puskas, Hidegkuti, Bozsik and Czibor definitely can't help when trying to showcase one's technical ability (esp with the outrageously eye catching goalscoring record of Kocsis's) but he was definitely a very good player on the deck and possessed very good link up play imo. Not that there is much footage of him for Hungary apart from that England game but his link up play is more than apparent in the Barca games. Think he's perfect for the GT's side and I don't really have an issue with the forward trio, esp with 2 excellent FBs providing service out wide.

Close game and I couldn't split either teams so had to refrain from voting.

Aye, it was a great game with good discussion.

Well played @Raees - classy as always in the match thread so I wouldn't have begrudged you the win. I think in hindsight had you picked Czibor your team would have been unbeatable.
Thanks Theon. Tbf much of the advice seemed to indicate I should get Czibor so sorry to all you fellas who did try and put on the right path but I was worried that even if I did get him I'd still be one winger down compared to all the other sides who possessed brilliant top class wingers so I thought let me try and differentiate the side and wait until I can guarantee myself a proper top winger for final.

Skizzos Boniek pick threw me and the fact no one picked Puskas messed up my strategy. I'd rather lose than not pick Puskas who is one of my all time favourites.

You guys have a very solid side so will be interesting to see how you go about upgrading.. Skizzo in a similar boat where both you guys have a ready made attack.

Green smiley started it.. i nearly fell off my chair when I saw Puskas sitting there all shiny and unpicked. Boniek and Nedved was my first choice wing pairing from the outset but never got anywhere near them :(.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

Cheers Joga. I started to watch Barca vs Hamburg from 1961 recently, probably for Czibor after picking him in this draft, but my dismal concentration span failed me.

Can't remember much in detail from that game either, apart from the absolute screamer from Seeler
Was watching this game too and haven't got to the Seeler screamer bit. Kocsis link up play was class though, so agile on the ball and great hold up play. Probably Kubala's best game on the net for me, really impressive that game. Really showcases that Barca side.
