That's about 1:55 too long.
You would hate me then, whenever I go through my binge rewatch of old seasons I force my wife to have to listen to the theme tune again and again - episode after episode..

 yea I'd hate that.

It would be ok if it was good, I don't mind listening to The Sopranos one for example.

Most of my faves have been mentioned... but if we're delving into the world of 80's cartoons for a moment :D

I'm tempted to say The Sopranos, but i'm not sure if that's because it's my favourite tv show of all time and i absolutely adore it, or the music is that great.

But i do like the opening to True Blood. Show absolutely shit the bed quickly, but i do like the music to the opening.

The show itself is pretty average but I love the Cold Case intro song. Everything after it is just a little underwhelming:

Fecking love that show.
I've got all 17 on my hard drive.
I could never 100% decide whether McGoohan was a nutcase or a genius, I've always leaned towards genius. Brilliant show!

Shaka Zulu - We Are Growing (by Margaret Singana):

Really, if you haven't heard it, have a listen. Shaka Zulu was a South African series in the eighties, roughly based on the life of Shaka, the Napoleon of Southern Africa.

Although it has been criticised (for not showing British punishments while showing Zulu punishments, for example) it stands up very well and the theme song is extraordinary, as was the performance by Henry Cele as Shaka. Cele was first famous as a football player.

Hear the children, hear the children
They are talking to you
Hear the wind blow, hear the wind blow
It is blowing for you

See the grass grow, see the grass grow
It whispers his name
See the fire blow, see the fire blow
His heart's in the flame

Bayete, Inkosi
Bayete, Inkosi
Bayete, Inkosi
Bayete, Inkosi

We are growing
Growing higher and higher
We are growing
Growing higher and higher

The full song is here:

Also, and I don't know if this counts,

Asterix est (by Plastic Bertrand)

It's from Asterix and Caesar's Gift but I seem to have a memory of it being used as the theme for the Asterix films being shown as a TV series when I was young. Maybe I'm mixing memories? Anyway, it's a great theme.

Jossys Giants, Supergran and Auf Wiedersehn Pet. Strangely all 3 have a north east connection.

Mentions for The Racoons and Jayce and the wheeled warriors too.

UK, hun?

Shame the actual show isn't better, but it's got one of the best intros on TV right now.

The game of thrones one is awful and far too long, it's well annoying having to skip through it every episode.
Go away, it's the last few minutes of the episodes I enjoy.

Maybe not the 'best' theme tunes, but ones I like a lot:

Doctor Who
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (BBC series)

Over 70 responses and no mentions of the best theme song of all time? Unbelieveable, Jeff.
