I think we should have targeted Bruma for the RW. He would have given us the speed that we are lacking on the RW. He's already scored one goal in 2 appearances for Leipzig. He'll need to be watched closely this season.

Unfortunately I don't think United's current business model is one that prioritises finding the next 'ronaldo'. We're happier to let the likes of Dortmund find them, develop them and then us drop £100m on them.
The problem with that model is that we can't compete with the likes of Man City and PSG that will blows us out of the water. And then there are those who want to end up playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid. All the super clubs at the moment are investing heavily in youth. The likes of Man City went all out to buy Mendy, Sane, Jesus, Sterling, B Silva and so on. Real invested in youth this season as well and PSG and Barcelona will invest heavily in youth again next summer. We can't wait for all the talented individuals like the next Ronaldos and next Messis end up at other clubs while we wait for the Dortmunds to develop them and then sell to the highest bidder as we probably will be priced out.

We seem to be in the business of buying players for our u18 team rather than teenagers who are world beaters playing for their first team. Recently we have been buying the seasoned young player who is ready to make that next step at 23 years old. I'd love to see us buy a De Ligt, Lafont etc but the truth is they aren't good enough to start for us but they need a lot of gametime as they can become world class. Don't want more of a Tuanzebe/JPereira issue with them.

I feel like Pulisic is made to play for us and will one day. Excited to quote this when it happens.

Yep. Pulisic is a great talent and he's a United fan too. Would be great to see him play for us.

Of those listed only the latter 2 would be somewhat possible for United to acquire. Everyone else, no way does City/RM/Barca sell those guys to us.

Anyways, Malcom (Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira) of Bordeaux is the RW of the now+future we could most definitely use.

Immense Brazilian talent at just 20 years of age. Not a bad thing he has blazing speed down the touchline as well.

Looks a good player

The only one on that list i would genuinely push for, no matter how hard and expensive it would be is dele alli, because he fits the criteria of English homegrown lad, young talented with world class potential, would make an impact now, would be realistically attainable in terms of the player wanting the move (money money money) and would completely compliment the current squad, manager and playing style.
Didnt we have an option to buy him when MK Dons beat us 4-0 annd the wanker vg turned it down? Think I read the club were going for him scouted by Moyes lot.

Gomes and Puigmal will be great for us, and Chang is another. We have quite a few in the academy who are great prospects.

Along with those I mentioned above we have Lee O Connor who is only turned 17 and can play anywhere across the backline.

We have Laird who is a full back with pace to burn, and skill on the ball who is only turned 16.

James Garner a very good central midfielder who will run all day long and cover every blade of grass on the pitch and has just turned 16.

A visit to see these youngsters is worthwhile, or you can watch them on MUTV.

that's just not true is it? Before add-on's you've dropped £90m on Pogba, £75m on Lakaku, and spent about £60m on Di Maria a few years ago.

Pulisic from dortmund ?
Pulisic could play in any of the three in a 4231 and even maybe as the most attacking CM in a 433 or either wing.
Pulisic, Pulisic, Pulisic
I watched Dortmund last night and was very, very impressed. Google him at HT and could not believe that he was 18! Looks extremely quick, great on the ball, very tricky and very mature in his use of the ball

Loathe to say this, but would also make great commercial sense. An American in our XI would be great for our US fanbase

I remember my old boss telling me that Le Tallec and Sinama-Pongolle were absolute world beaters and were three times the player Ronaldo was...

Yes we did spend on Pogba but we had no one else trying to compete for his signature. Real weren't completely into spending that much since they already had the likes of Kroos, Modric and Casemiro and Isco and buying a 90m Pogba for the bench would have been stupid. Secondly, there was only Chelsea that were after Lukaku and no one else. Chelsea were trying to play the waiting game hoping that Everton will drive down their price tag which led to United gazumping for Lukaku. If City or PSG were actually after them, we wouldn't have gotten them.

Even Di Maria never wanted to come to United. He was eyeing PSG the whole time but due to FFP, PSG couldn't buy anyone which is why Di Maria settled for United. Even then, there was no one who was trying for his signature. That summer, Arsenal went and bought Sanchez.

Now Mbappe for example, United enquired and were considering him but the amount of money that was thrown for him was beyond what we were planning to spend on a single player. At the end, even Real backed out of the deal leaving PSG to pay for him.

But City were after pogba and mbappe they were just too expensive, just like Evans and Sanchez if money was no object we'd have got them but we couldn't as we couldn't get rid of the players to finance the deals

For reasonable prices (probably):

Dendoncker
Malcom
Milinkovic-Savic
Bruma
Sessengon
Dembele (Celtic)
I agree with your list, but Milinkovic-Savic will not go for cheap. Lazio president Lotito allegedly wanted 70m euros this summer, and his price is going up.

Might be 21 now - but think Loftus Cheek could be a top player if he gets given the chance.

OP isn't suggesting signing those players, they are suggesting we sign the next big young players.

Havertz comes to mind, he's got the kind of size Mourinho likes in midfield and could be a nice attacking option playing next to Pogba and ahead of Matic when we play 4-3-3. Only seen him play a couple times but he seems to have good vision and wins headers and is the German u-19 captain. Supposedly tore England u-19 apart and playing so often for Leverkusen at his age is very impressive.
Havertz looks a top talent.

Was considering bumping that old thread where people predicted what old players what become top class in a few years just the other day.

5 players I think will be being massively hyped this time next year are...

De Ligt - Not as physically imposing as Sanchez who has gone to spurs but seems to read the game extremely well.

Sessegnon - Already being hyped up and after staying at Fulham I can only see him getting better this season. A guaranteed mover next summer for me. Any of the top 6 bar Spurs and City will likely be in for him. Maybe take out Liverpool if Robertson can make a good impression.

Calvert-Lewin - Granted I've only seen him a couple of times but the kid really impresses me. Great work ethic, hold up play and technical attributes to boot. Lack of top quality strikers at Everton could really help his chances of making it.

Ndidi - Older than the rest but a real gem of a player that is going under the radar currently. If Leicester have a decent season (top 8) then I think a lot of it will be down to the work this kid gets through. Can see him at a top team soon.

Oyarzabal - Kid has everything needed to make a massive impression on the game. He won't be at sociedad for long.

Obvious omissions due to being too well known and highly regarded. Goretzka, Weigl, Giminez and Kimmich

Ticks all the boxes including from a commercial standpoint. All upside at his age, and he brings interest from both the American and a portion of the Eastern European markets.

He looked fantastic in his last game before getting hurt for Palace. Tons of pace and power.

He's a Manchester United fan as well. I think he would be a great addition. We could have him play as a RW or the no. 10 role behind Lukaku. I think United should buy him and loan him back to Dortmund for 2 years. By the time he's 20-21, he could be ready to play at OT.

People from East Europe don't have the purchasing power or the cultural interest to buy any sort of football related product (general statement, before some numpty chimes in with "I know this one guy and he's super rich, also bought a jersey once). Croatia has a population of 4 million people, and they wont suddenly flock to buy a shirt (or whatever) from some footballer who refused to play for their national team. So the notion of there being some sort of commercial benefit from the Eastern European markets for signing Christian Pulisic is fatuous in the extreme.

Seems an odd thing to be pedantic over, but whatever.

And why exactly would Dortmund do it ?

Xavi Simons from Barcelona. He's 13 though, but his first name is Xavi and he's supposed to be the next big thing.

That is very early scouting indeed, not trying to make dig, but just had to point out.
Also if he turns out anywhere near as good as Xavi, Barca will not let him go.
