I think it was that his style of football seemed particularly unsuited to the players he had at Palace. He was an odd choice to follow Allardyce, especially as it seems the board was not willing to give him a bedding in period from the start.I'm still not sure how de Boer was the wrong choice on the evidence I saw. Two individual errors, unrelated to his managerial acumen, in matches at Liverpool and Burnley cost him points. At Burnley they produced so many quality scoring chances it's incredible they didn't equalize.
