At the moment anyone half decent will be better than Valencia.

Watched him a couple of times for Inter this season and seen the good and the bad. The good is he's an excellent bust of pace and attacks into space quite a bit with decent delivery. Very direct. Bad news watching him is his concentration levels seem to desert him at times and can get caught out with crosses to the back post. It's something that he can learn under Mourinho but in England against big physical sides I don't think he's suited to that at all and his tackling can be quite erratic at times.

Also his release clause seems to be 35 million? (Not sure If that's in Euros or pounds) so he's a risk signing but can be a decent purchase, only 23 too.

I think the release clause only applies to Inter as part of their loan deal?

He has the potential to be something a bit special going forward, the question marks are more on the defensive side. Can also play in midfield. Realistically he's perfect for a wingback system. I really havent seen enough of Sidibe to make any comparisons

I think it's in his Valencia contract but I'm not 100% in that. He's a right-back with all the potential to improve though and he's excellent in attacking space, something we lack quite badly with Valencia running into blind alleys.

Valencia is pretty decent at that....the question is can he cross a ball with decent quality?

Cancelo will become the best right back in Europe if he will stay in Italy to work and improve his defensive skills.

Is he any good ? We need opinions from posters who watched him regularly ? I don't think there're are any legs for this rumors anyway but let's see.

Miles better in attack
Not really. His crossing is better which isn't hard, but he's not quicker, looks like he over complicates things and has poor positioning going forward, basically he wouldn't create much opportunity for himself to cross the ball.

Just my view though, he looks pretty average tbh.

Valencia barely takes a player on anymore, Cancelo is like Evra - will beat players not just with speed but with skill. He's a dribbler who can find a good pass or cross.

The issue comes in defending. Attacking we're not going to find anyone better at RB

But this is the thing he plays like he's a winger and it shows as he'll get himself in position what you'll normally find of a player further up the field where he should actually be the right back overlapping, that's what i mean by poor positioning. I suppose that can be coached but that's not the type of player we should be looking at. Personally I'd be looking for someone more experienced.

This is one position we had better not gamble with. From the little over seen, he's going to be very special I'd he sorts out his positioning. Would rather have Cedric or Meunier now tbh.

If he can take the ball past defenders and put in a decent cross then I'm all for it. Sick to death of watching Valencia hopelessly kicking the ball in to people's shins.

Do we really want our attackers making runs on the outside when none of them are great crossers? other than Lukaku I guess, but hes supposed to be in the box.

Much more dangerous if they make runs inside. Cancelo can play those passes. He's good at dribbling but he can also find a pass to open things up. Doesnt score many goals though

Cancelo has very high potential and his defensive flaws could be ironed out by a coach like Mourinho. I would be very happy if we bought him.

Looks tailor made to run riot at Old Trafford, from what I’ve seen of him. Get him signed.

I like Cancelo, much better. Alex Sandro and Cancelo would improve us on flank much better, more risk pass, more dribble, more cross, more overlapping. I'm down for it.

If he can attack and dribble then it's a good start. Positioning is not a problem. That can be developed under the right manager. It also says on wiki that he can play as a winger as well. Looks like wing back could be the perfect position for him.

As most have said and from what I’ve been watching of him (admittedly on YouTube as I rarely watch Serie A unless it’s a big game these days) he looks great going forward and definitely an all round upgrade on Valencia, the difference to attacking full backs like Cancelo and Sandro would make to our team would be massive.

Spalletti talks about Cancelo in March....

In the second half, Spalletti switched flanks between Joao Cancelo and Danilo D’Ambrosio.
“The intention was to put Danilo marking Lorenzo Insigne. If Cancelo plays badly on the right, he’ll tell you he would do better 10 metres further forward. If he plays badly on the left, he’ll tell you it’s because he should’ve been on the right. All players do that, him more than most. He is two-footed, can emerge from very difficult situations with the quality of a trequartista rather than a full-back, so I moved him to push more down that flank.”

All of our attacking would love having fullbacks like Sandro and Cancelo, massive contribution to attacking display.

Don't know much about Cancelo or Sidibé so I turned to Swaka who shows Sidibé is much better than Cancelo and better than Walker at creating chances/key passes. Make of that what you will.

Sandro and Cancelo would elevate our attack massively. Don’t see us getting them though
