We'll need the January transfer window badly I think. Hopefully things don't get too bad until then.
Dude, don't do this to yourself.
The board are not spending money....have you not understood what just happened during the last 2-3 months?

We lost Carrick. He was a big gun, Fred is now the replacement. We lost Blind and brought in Dalot. Apart from a returning Pereira you have to ask if we are stronger than last season.

Over 30 players in Matic, Mata, Fellaini, Young, Romero and Valencia have been joined by 35 year old Lee Grant and Sanchez will join the club shortly.....

Just a bit of perspective, but I do agree people are getting overly upset over spending money when it could have been a disaster bringing the wrong players in.
How many games did Carrick and Blind play last year exactly?

This window is right up there with the Moyes transfer window where we ended up with Fellaini.
4th place here we come!
4th place is the objective.
Win the 4th place trophy, while spending as little as possible.
Straight out of Arsenal's playbook.

We didn't lose Pogba or DeGea or Martial (who I personally rate) and that was very important to our season.

We have added a young RB who we haven't seen yet so let's not judge, we added the famous midfielder we've been asking for to play with Pogba and Matic, we have Sanchez geared up and ready, we have Lingard, Lukaku, Pogba who did really well at the world cup.

Okay feck it we didn't get a CB, LB, and RW but it's not like we do not have any fecking players. Let's see what we have in our squad. Most of us were split on Shaw, Lindelof, Bailly (at some point). We will be seeing plenty of them this season, maybe they need game time, maybe they are crap but let's at least see those 65/90 mil players given play time, I mean we signed them for a reason?

We just need to have a stable defense with little alterations and injuries. Middle and Front we have: Pogba, Lukaku, Sanchez, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Fred. If those feckers can't combine between them to create and score then they are not good enough and I doubt that.

Let's see how Mourinho will do with what he has at his disposal and let's see if the players take this opportunity to show their worth throughout the season and cement their place in the squad.

Let's fecking be optimistic, we have a game tomorrow and we need to beat Leicester! Get behind the team.

I'll never understand why some United fans somehow feel indebted to the Glazers. We oew them absolutely nothing and if they aren't prepared to match City/Madrid etc in the transfer market then it's time they go. We have the highest revenues in world football.
The amazing thing is that fans say that they don't want us to waste our money on transfers.
If we don't spend the money on players, the Glazers will pocket the money and I do not want that to happen.

It would of course. A great performance would be nice, to just show that these backup players are not an actual weakness. I dread a dire 1-0 or a worse result. Harry Maguire anyone, that would just be taking the p***.

Instead of hitting f5 constantly today I decided to not check any transfer news all day and then check after 5pm. You know for the instant excitement of seeing what players we have signed.

I feel like a kid who just woke up on Xmas morning and rushed to their present sack only to find it empty. :/

They actually matched City in the market this year and outspent Real.

To me, it seems likely that the reason we have not bought more players is because the board are concerned that Mourinho would walk by the season's end and we'd be left with a bunch of players the next manager wouldn't want, like how it's been happening the past few seasons.

I think it's disappointing they're not supporting him this window, but you can't say they've not supported him in the past few windows. And I think most would agree he should be doing better with what he's got at the moment.

Net spend of around £50m seems ridiculously low, and it could get even lower if we ship out anyone else before the end of August.

In my view something has definitely gone badly wrong. As far back as May it was reported we were ‘confident’ in bringing in Alderweireld. It’s incredible looking back at all the links and potential transfers. Was it all bullshit or did we really miss out on so many targets?

Will be very interesting if the truth emerges.

Real might have a bit of spending to do yet.
They might but I don’t expect anything major. They were probably interested in Hazard but got rebuffed, I doubt Chelsea are letting him go with the transfer window in England closed.

That could be it. Which makes you wonder why they risked getting him in the first place.

I think there is only City standing in the way of Liverpool this year, unless Klippety Klopp messes things up i think Liverpool look most likely to challenge.

Don't like feeling dependent on City to stop Liverpool's title bid. Really depressing!
I think that’s why there is such a big depression amongst fans.

Much like the quarter final of the Champions League last season we are having to choose what’s better Liverpool or City winning the league. Clearly City but still.

Listen mate, you close windows, you slam doors. You certainly don't slam windows, although you can close doors.

Edit: Too late, already taken off.

Alderweireld will probably join in January similarly to Sanchez for about £35m.

Your kind of people are not worthy of this badge.
'Your kind of people?' What are you alluding to there fella? I was suggesting that you thinking the moaners will all go away now the transfer window has closed is unrealistic hence me asking if this was your first season. See you at the game tomorrow :)

Well, they got him because of his record. Then supported him for 2 season, and 4 windows but saw that we never got close to a title challenge, and the football started to get worse.

Or am I just projecting my feelings on Mourinho on the board here?

Mourinho has just got to get on with it now. Get the best out of these players. But there are too many disgruntled folk around and in the side right now and our Portuguese manager appears to be one of them.

I will be at Old Trafford tomorrow for the first game and it is not with a great big spring in my step. I feel a bit deflated, if I am honest.

The census on here is that we wont spend a load unless were lower than the top 4. The answer is simple. 1) Mourinho gets us to 5/6th and then gets a fortune to get us a load of new players to get back to top 4 . 2) Gets sacked, gets a massive payoff. we get a new manager who then gets a fortune to get us a load of new players to get back to top 4, hopefully playing a lot better football. A winner either way

What's done is done. Many posters here have said that buying 4-5 players each year will affect team chemistry. Since, we'll have only one new first-team player, let's see if the squad gels and there's some flow to our game.

Absolutely embarrassing. Even fecking Arsenal have spend more than us.
How is that embarrassing? I don’t get it, we’ve spent a fair few quid over the last few years, sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn’t, in 2006/07 season I think we only bought Carrick, we went on to win the league after what? 3-4 years and where runners up in the champions league (could be wrong) Yes there are a lot of variables but you never know how it will pan out, don’t get me wrong, what we earn vs what we spend don’t add up sometimes, we all love a new player turning up but it’s not always the be all and end all.

Personally I think the glazers are sucking the lifeblood out of this club but that’s just my opinion despite how much has been spent.

Actually, i am sort of relief. We were only link with CBs and a lot of them i would not want here. Godin, Boateng are good defenders, but no way they will cut it here and given their age, this type of transfer is essentially stupid.

He do have a good enough squad, for example Martial, who was almost out of the door was a very expensive transfer just a couple years ago. Guy has a tremendous potential. What bothers me is that we are very light in RW and LB position, but that is due to our lack of strategy and the whole window i haven't even read a rumour about United trying to sign someone on those exact positions. Other than William, and i'm glad we did not buy him for 70-80m.

Yes, we have spent money, but a lot of those players have actually gone and most of our defence are leftovers of SAF, so not very good recruitment all round. We had Wilfred Zaha here, would love him here now, who Moyes took an instant dislike to. LvG who brought in loads of players who he then either ignored most or marginalised others. Then we have Jose who is great when he is in a good mood, but when he isn't picks fights with his players and cannot seem to grasp anything about how this club is supposed to play. That chucking in Scott McTominay is what it is all about. It is a mess all round. Bad recruitment of managers and just throwing money around at times with no thought as to where this team should be going. A lot of people to blame.

There is no point spending money for the sake of spending money. We are going to be stronger with existing players adapting longer to current team.

If there are injuries, I would gladly see an academy player get a chance.

Don't forget we also have Andreas Pereira who is most likely going to be part of our squad rotation.

From first team, we lost Carrick (retired) and Blind (ajax). We added Fred and Dalot plus Pereira. If Lindelof, Sanchez, Rashford, Martial, etc improve next year then it will almost be like new singings to the team. We still have the second strongest squad in the league and you never know how the season will go.

Yes, we could have signed replacement for Young/Shaw or even another world class player but looks like market was not there.

Me too. In fact, I feel like the Jehovah's witness kid at Christmas.

In one way or another, I doubt that Jose will be here for more than this season. I guess that will be partly his fault as he bought two CBs so he should have no need to buy another and he has plenty of players to play on the wing, although one will have to adapt to being a RW.

Without caring about the results, we needed a bit of a shake up just to change the way we play. Now we're looking at a similar season to last season which is all a tad depressing.

Feel a bit deflated by it all really, but it’s over now. No point in being pessimistic.

Let’s just hope Sanchez and co improve because we do have some good players, if and it’s a big if, if Mourinho can get him or Martial firing on all cylinders on the right were on to a winner.

Hopefully Fred can free up Pogba and tie the midfield together we’ll be ok. Bring on tomorrow.

Fcuk another season with Smalling, Valencia, Young and Fellaini still getting regularly game time. Utter shambles this summer has been, top 4 if we are lucky and the champions league is going to be embarrasing.

Hopefully Mourinho is gone by October.
