Where's Alexis Sanchez? does he play football still, chance he's in the squad on sunday?

0-0. Similar to infamous 2013 2nd match of the season where Chelsea were happy with the draw and we were toothless.

After all the negativity about transfers amongst our fans, I can’t wait for the season to kick off! The massive defensive upgrade will have a far bigger impact on our whole team’s performance than people realise!

2-0 win and a wave of optimism will sweep the caf
Nah, it won't. There'll just be countless posters pointing to Ole's next real test.

Let's go for it. This Chelsea team is much more in transition that ours. We're at Old Trafford, we shouldn't give them a chance to breathe.

    Martial
    Rashford Gomes Greenwood
    Pogba Mctominay
    Shaw Maguire Lindelof AWB
    DDG

I know we played 4-2-3-1 for pre-season but I think tougher games we need to go back to 4-3-3 and Chelsea will have a midfield 3 that includes Kante which Pogba + Mctominay will struggle against.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    McTominay Fred Pogba
    Lingard Martial Rashford

I’d assume not just because he hasn’t seen any pre season action.

Maybe off the bench if we need a goal but other than that I doubt it. Most likely see him against Wolves.

Looking forward to this one so much! Although I think the line-up will leave a little bit to be desired by some fans as I'd be surprised if none of Matic, Lingard, or Mata start (should hopefully only be one or two of them, but obviously I was hoping we'd be in a situation where none of these players were being asked to start the bigger games). I think Chelsea could be quite dangerous this year, but I fancy them to perhaps be at their weakest defensively in a long time, so we should be able to get at them and with good finishing I expect us to score at least two goals on Sunday. We should be stronger defensively this season with McTominay providing the energy in midfield along with a better RB and CB than we've had for a good five years or more (along with de Gea not being as shaky as he was for a decent part of last season).

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Matic
    McTominay Pogba
    Lingard
    Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Young, Smalling; Fred, Mata, James; Greenwood

Lingard may play on the right at times, but he'll always drift inside so we could play more of a diamond with the split strikers. I think Matic will be given the nod judging on pre-season minutes and this being a big game, although I'd like to see us just go for it and start James or Greenwood on the right. I doubt Ole will do this right away though. People are eager to see Gomes, Chong, Tuanzebe etc, but IMO this is unlikely straight away - Greenwood is the most 'ready' despite his age and has arguably the least competition while Sanchez is out and Lukaku wasn't replaced. I expect to see the other younger lads given most of their minutes in the Europa League and League Cup.

We could see Jones on the bench over Smalling, maybe Andreas over Fred, maybe even Tuanzebe does get the nod as third choice CB but until I see it happen for a few games in the PL I'd wager he is not third choice already. Rojo, Bailly, and Darmian however, I cannot see being involved in a PL squad all season as we have five other CBs and four other Fullbacks who are either better or more versatile than them.[/CENTER]

Whats happened to TFM? I didn't see him around the pre-season and he has hardly had a mention. Was hpoing he could step up into a useful squad member this year.

Both times we played Chelsea under Ole last season Mata started at 10, don't see any reason why he'd start him on the right for this game now.

Hopefully De Gea has recovered (having flashbacks to this fixture last season) and hopefully we take our chances. If so I expect to win.

Don't know much about Pulisic but I feel less intimidated without Hazard there.

Forgot about his poor form. I was furious with him the last few games. Still wouldn't mind Romera as #1.

    Our best 11

    ----------------De Gea-----------

    Wan Bissaka---Lindelof---Maguire---Shaw

    ----------McTominay---------Matic-------

    Greenwood---------Pogba-----------Rashford

    ---------------------Martial----------------

I think we need Pogba as the 10 to compliment our forwards best.

I've got some optimism that things aren't as bad as many are making out but if we're seeing Mata start a big game in 19/20 it will soon wipe it out.

Are you sure you want to choose 4 forwards?

    Yes, yes I am.

Lukaku needs removed from the squad list.

    I'd like to see;

    DDG,AWB,MAGUIRE,LINDELOF,SHAW,POGBA,MCTOMINAY,RASHFORD,LINGARD,JAMES,MARTIAL

What I expect Ole will pick

    - James + Mata.

I suspect James and Greenwood will come on as subs in the 70th.

Think he might stick with Matic over McT but I mean could throw in Mata instead of James and swap Lingard and he about.

Would be criminal to start Matic. Put in a shit tier season last year's and his pre season was even worse.

Just DON'T put Matić in the game.

It might be the first game of the season for Chelsea too, but he'll get run over.

    Leave him the feck out.

    I expect:

    De Gea

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw

    McTom Pogba

    James Lingard Martial

    Rashford

I'd be fairly happy with that.

Not happening in a million years but i'd go with:

    De Gea
    AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Dalot
    McTominay Fred
    Greenwood Pogba Gomes
    Rashford
    Romero
    Jones/Smalling
    Lindelof
    Shaw
    Pereira
    Martial
    Lingard/James

Matic, Young and Mata on the bench with the Coaches.
Yes, I like your team and want to see Dalot and Tuanzebe get a chance in this team.
