Seems right, we are closer to Newcastle than to City in terms of quality and that shows in value as well.

Seems right, we have a lot of deadwood. Our first 11 should be higher on that list but our squad is full of mediocre players.

We only have 4 more players than spurs, 3 more players than city.
Was thinking more of their quality, our back-up players are either, honestly kind of poor or youngsters who need time to hit the ground running. That we have a bigger squad than City and are so behind in value says a lot of the quality in our squad.

Many values on transfermarkt are highly questionable, almost none are realistic potential transfer sums for players, but it obviously reflects a trend in our performances.
Probably a lot more accurate for the German Bundesliga mind.

Yea, I noticed that as well. When I saw Maguire at €50m, Smalling at €20m, Pereira at €10m, AWB at €35m, Tuanzebe at €7m. The valuation seems like it was done by a 12 year old.

The relevance of this really depends on what point one is trying to make. What it does tell us is we've gotten very poor value for money

Anyway I wouldn't take it serious because of the subjectivity. Who decided Maguire was worth exactly 50m and AWB 35m?

I’m also not sure you can price players. Take Rashford for example he’s not leaving for even £100 million. So what do you put his value down to? Or is it based on some arbitrary value someone has placed on him?

Who decided that those player valuations were correct, transfermarket.com?

Well, I'm convinced.

Those evaluations seem about right to me to be honest.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, a 12 year old.

Just kidding. But, I doubt United will sell these players for those values and other clubs will jump at all of those players at such value. As such, it is not an accurate representation of these players value because they are not leaving at those prices. Tuanzebe at €7m . I bet you think Greenwood actual value is €3m and Gomes is €2m as well.

Yeah youre right I guess. Players usually do move for more than they are really worth. Except for Lukaku, he was sold for 65m but is worth 75m according to the same site

We could pay 300 for Maquire, doesn't mean he is really worth it. Atletico paid 130 for Felix. His real market value is 70m for example.
Market value is what someone is prepared to pay on the open market no? We paid what we paid so thats the truest indicator of that players mv

How can anyone take those valuations seriously? Young for 5 and Tunazabe for 7? Rojo who Everton apparently offered 25 ml is worth 10? Mctominay is worth 12 ml but Sanchez is 35 ml and Lingard is 40 ml?

Unbelievable
How much have we spent since SAF retired, nearly a billion? And we have the highest wage bill too! Overpaid underperformers FC, that's what United have become.

Stands to reason because we are now relying on a lot of young players who do not have reputation to command high transfer value.

This is transfermarket's valuations, not how much we've spent in comparison. We should obviously be higher than 5th

Kante is worth £100 million according to them and Jorginho £65 million. Eriksen £100 million, Alli £90 million, Davinson Sanchez £55 million. So you probably shouldnt take it too seriously

We are ruined by idiots at the top who have simply no understanding of the market. That's why we get burned in every transfer window and it won't change as long as that banker is in charge of our club.

I can't believe there are people in this thread taking this seriously, as if we are talking about actual measurements not arbitrary figures someone has made up.

They are guessing the worth of players basically. I don't think any player actually ever goes for the money they predict he is worth.
Usually from what I've seen players tend to cost like £20 million more than what they have. But thats also probably because the players at the top clubs who they have valued at £100 million etc dont tend to be transfered. Instead its the best players from europa league challenging teams.

Agreed, our transfers have been mostly abysmal in past years.

Some players are obviously worth much more than their transfermarket value (Pogba is easily a 200 million player), but many of our players are actually overestimated there. No one would pay 30 million for Matic, and Fred looks more like 5 million player from Championship. Sanchez 35 million? The guy has negative "value", no one wants him even for free.

You could pay 20 bucks for a pair of Gucci loafers, doesn't mean the retail price is really 2000?

Value is determined by a number of variables such as age, position, potential, record in respective league and Europe and perhaps standing of importance to a team?

The big problem with Transfermarkt valuations is that a large part of individual market value is based on team performance. I.e. a bench player for a team winning the league will likely have a market value increase, whilst a player that may perform at world class levels playing for a mid table team might not have a price increase at all.
