It didn't seem like one worthy of anymore attention. Seems like nonsense but that's how this all starts. What do you make of it?
Meh. Could be true, could be bollocks but that's always how they do start. Am personally pretty certain they didn't tell him he could finish 10th at the start of season expectations meeting

The only thing that did disturb me a little is the notion that yet again, the manager is being singled out without any sort of rumor or noise that maybe the one above him is the problem.

True. Make no mistake people don't think they are blameless, it's just no one expects them to sack themselves from the club

Since you are from The Netherlands what do you think of Erik ten Hag?
Meh. Not too sure about him. Of course he did well to get as far as he did in the CL with Ajax last year but to me it seems like he's now having trouble to get anywhere near last season's footy. Of course they lost Frenkie and De Ligt but still. I don't know. Makes me wonder. Maybe last season was more down to the quality of the players than the coach. Ten Hag lacks charisma too. To be honest I still think Peter Bosz is the better coach. He did well at Ajax, was a bit unlucky at Dortmund but is now impressing again at Bayer Leverkusen. He's more charismatic and has a very clear offensive playing style.

Ah the old coulda woulda shoulda scored. Well fecking done to us managing to have shots on goal against Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace, we had 13 shots on target in those three games which tells you a lot. I don't know what there is to disagree with, we CLEARLY spent large portions of the games against Wolves, Palace and Southampton messing about with the ball pointlessly because we couldn't get through them, there are dozens of people on this website who have been saying the same thing.

Get over it? what? Get over what?
Erm, you're the one who thought it was relevant to mention Wolves' results against teams that have absolutely nothing to do with Manchester United. I merely pointed out that Chelsea and Arsenal were rubbish a lot last season like ourselves and so Wolves beating them doesnt carry some heavy weight.
Last year Manchester city had 17 shots on goal those three games... 13 is not that far of... city lost at home to Crystal Palace 2-3 last year. City had 6 shots on goal in their 3-1 win over Southampton away last year. We had 8 the last game. We are NOT as bad as the doomsday advocates try and paint it. We are on the right path... Give the boys time to find their mojo.

You could argue the majority of good results since Ole has been here has been games in which we have been given the opportunity to counter attack. Usually led with having Rashford and one of Martial/Lukaku/Lingard, isolated up top with him.

In games since last season, when teams have figured this out and no longer let us counter attack, we have looked just as clueless as we did under Moyes. Pointless crosses into the box, finding no-one - for the most part.

We are playing teams with far inferior players to us, even comparing us to Palace/Southampton etc. is laughable. Yet they are playing better football than we are. That has nothing to do with fitness or the calibre of player.

He is clueless outside of counter attacking football.

Also this nonsense about him not being at fault for players not finishing chances and shite is ridiculous. We had that one season under Mourinho where we were creating loads of chances but couldn't finish for the life of us and many on her claimed it was the manager's responsibility to get the players finishing. Let's not change our tune now that Ole is at the helm. If a manager isn't held accountable for his players, no manager in history has been a failure as it always comes back to the players as they're the ones that play the game.

Pep isn't just the luckiest fecker on the planet. His players score a feck ton of goals because he sets them up to do so.

This is going to sound harsh, but when Poch eventually walks from Spurs, which hopefully won't be too long, we should hire Poch as manager, and either fire Ole, or give the DoF job.

We can't not get Poch

He's playing Lingard as a starter, or a key sub. Letting Rashord shoot from where ever he wants, Pogba playing as a DM, Fred, Gomes, Greenwood getting nothing or scraps....some of these decisions are Ole's completely and the blame should rightly be placed at his door.

However on a plus, if we can hang in a top 4 spot until Jan, and sign a decent midfielder, we will improve and things will get better

People who want Ole out already are just impatient children who want instant success and cant cope with the success of Liverpool and City. Ole needs at least 3 more transfer windows. Even if we finished 10th this season I'd still back him. He needs the players he wants and that will take time.
The problem with this approach is you can't sign anyone but average players when you have finished 10th in the league. Why would any top talent want to join us when there are better options with more proven managers available?

Players like Sancho? Forget it.

Hopefully all of this doesn't happen and we comfortably finish top 6 at least.

But if we sack him and finish 2 places higher that doesn’t help either, a real project would even if it is slower than we all would like (impatient bar stewards that we all are)

You don't think finishing top 4 vs top 6 makes a difference? I think it does, massively.

For some reason, most of the top players would want to join teams which are playing in the CL.

So we are stuck with either overpaying for players (fecking up the wage structure, more potential deadwood we can't get rid of), or signing average players, which would not help us get CL the next season.

Sorry thought we were talking about 10th to 8th

Oh yes 4th is a big difference, I doubt it’s something we need to concern ourselves over though.

Haha true, doubt wherever we finish outside the top 6 would make any difference.

Because we tell them we’re building a project and it’s going to take time, plus here’s an extra 50k a week for your troubles and maybe we tell them if we’re not in the champ league in two seasons we will agree to sell. There’s ways around it.

Regarding Sancho, he’s still really young so time is on his side, we’ll just have to throw silly money at him. But even if he doesn’t want to come, fine, find someone else.

I don’t actually think we’ll finish 10th, but certainly no higher than 5th.

We have been building a project for approaching 10 years now. I doubt players are going to continue buying that rubbish. We are simply a club with no direction who scrap their approach and start anew whenever their approach inevitably fails.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, a good article from Gary Nevvile which I wholeheartedly agree with..

https://www.skysports.com/football/...are-on-right-track-under-ole-gunnar-solskjaer
It’s a great moral point. Like saying women footballers should be paid the same as men, but forgets that they are essential two different businesses with different revenue streams and if one subsidises the other it will go bust.

Anyways. Why I think this article is full of shit is because it actually exposes Ole’s limitations. Even if you think the football is good, then shouldn’t a competent manager be able adapt the style when needs be to get the result.

Instead of listening to Neville, I suggest people watch how he handles Salford. As he’s the most influential out of the owners. Very different to how he preaches. It’s all about results.

I guess you would prefer seing Jose football then. When you have

You are the one who said, Nuno out classed Ole.. so that carries weight?

If Sancho only wanted trophies and money he would never have left Man City. If we can show stability and progress I am sure we're a very enticing prospect for someone like him where he will be the main man down the right wing.

I think the winter transfer window should be used to sign a couple of top class midfielders and then when the team is looking more complete and having moved on the moaners and prima donnas then we have a better shot at Sancho in the summer.

I think this is where the distinction lies: I'm a supporter who supports the team. You and others of your ilk, on the other hand, are consumers who are expecting a service from the team/club and you can't handle us not being particularly great at this moment in time. I also look at the context and see that Ole has had one hand tied behind his back and has been set up to fail by an incompetent board, and yet, he has still turfed out the players who needed to be turfed out years ago.

I'd also say I'm actually quite realistic on the club. I don't think we're going to win anything of real significance for a while, and I'm even open to the idea that Ole might not be the right man for the job. Where I draw the line though, is being disrespectful to a club legend, and someone who by his actions has put the club before his career.

I think when you're actually a proper supporter of the club rather than a consumer, you're number 1 priority is having some pride in the way the team plays and you then build towards winning trophies. I can handle us losing quite easily, what I can't handle is players who don't give a shit and do nothing to arrest the tide. That has not happened thus far, and the players are all pulling in the same direction even now during this difficult time. Whether they are good enough, only time will tell, but I'm more than happy to give Ole the time to figure it out while working with a squad that was nowhere near fit for purpose last season and has been depleted even more since he arrived.
Care to explain what that means?

Haha yeah it was funny watching the Salford stuff. For someone who constantly badgers about giving managers time he was battling to sack the co managers even though they were top of the table and had only been there that season. Think they’d lost a few games and the football became bad and he was ready to sack them. I like Neville but he came across as a gigantic hypocrite with that. With Neville it’s almost as if his default is ‘stick to the manager’ so that on the occasion sticking works, he can say I told you so.
He eventually sacked them even though they won the league

The saddest thing about all of this is that among United legends he is probably the one I want to succeed most as United manager because of how likeable he is. For entertainment value I guess Cantona is close.
For all managers post Fergie:
1) Moyes was just a village idiot
2) LVG was a unique loveable character, every press conference was entertaining, sometimes more than the match
3) Jose was just a miserable sod
4) Ole seems genuinely nice wanting what's best for the club and trying his best but seems not good enough
Only LVG run (Juanfield) and Ole's run earlier in year brings back fond memories. So that is 5-6 months out of 6 years. Lowest point to be a United fan unless you are a grandparent.

I like Ole and the dirty work he is doing, but yes, if one of the few genuinely world class managers comes available, we need to get them in. The other thing with Poch, which is more important than people realise, is he’s done it in the Premier League, which means he’ll be given time. It’s amazing how much more time the red top press and the less educated fan will give to someone that is proven on these shores. Look at the treatment of Sarri; he’d have had a lot more slack at Chelsea if his Napoli achievements had been in England.

Don't think anyone would disagree with that. I think Ole will lay some good foundations for Poch at least.

Would we still be Ole in if we finished outside top 6 ?
Yes if our style of play has significantly changed to one that's positive and effective, and one that just needs a few more tweaks in the transfer market to really get it going. Perhaps with some good runs in the cups. Though 2 years out of the CL will reduce the money we get from the Adidas sponsorship so maybe Ed wouldn't think the same and look for someone more experienced.

If no progress has been made then probably not.

People have been asking for signs of improvement, and I think this is it. Time will tell, but I believe if this is kept up, then results will surely follow. Top 4 is still a realistic target despite all the doom and gloom around these parts. Points wise we are still just 2 behind Arsenal, while ahead of both Chelsea and Spurs.

Ole done a decent job? 3 wins in the last 18, lowest win percentage of a Man Utd permanent manager ever, worst start on a season in 30 years, clear limitations in the team, best player want out. For sure a decent job so far..
Listen. I love Ole as a player, but as a manager i am pretty much Ole out. What i just listed is sackable, don't care what anyone say.

Obviously it’s too early to judge anything about final position. But people judging us against arsenal and spurs etc should realise that both those teams have already played each other and the two best teams in Europe

People mAke me laugh with the stop being negative comments. It's like the ship just hit an iceberg, turned on its side and half the people are overboard and there are still some people saying cheer up you whiney lot. It will be fine. A bit of spit and polish and we will be on our way.
So you really think that the ship is sinking. Once is sinks, there is no coming back. United are an institution and I can guarantee we'll win another at some point.

So, there is no reason to be so negative when our manager is trying to build a team, and performances are getting better (even if the results aren't going our way yet.).

We will be inconsistent with this squad and it's their learning curve. What's going to be fun to watch is how quickly we learn the list mile stuff - ruthlessness, game management, time wasting, finishing.

He’s ruthless. His plan is to get Salford promoted to championship league year after year, with maybe one year without promotion. It’s based on heavy expenditure financed by his SE Asian Billionaire friend, the club makes a loss £2-£3m every year so they have to get to the championship to start breaking even or making a profit. But it exposes how he has no patience with managers.

Now he expects Man Utd, a club already heavily in debt, who have gone years without challenging but rely on marketing and sponsorship to give 2-3 years to a guy under who we will most probably never be success even if we had City owners and we could very well finish 8 or below with.

My bet. They still harbour hopes of Giggs getting it. A couple of years finishing 8-14th with Ole and Giggs will get it, but get rid of Ole now, become a top 4 club and he probably won’t ever have a chance.
