BBC said:
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "We go 1-0 up and then we don't get the second goal that we want to get. That's the learning now for this time. Be more cynical, clinical. There are so many games we have been 1-0 up. We will learn. It's a bad goal to give away but sometimes you make those passes, you play out and it looks good. We learn from it.

"We are at the start of building something. It's just a bit disappointing that we can't get that second goal.

"Seven now in seven games [for Aubameyang] so that's clinical. You think at the time maybe Harry [Maguire] managed to get out but it was a few yards onside and a good finish.

"Sometimes you hear a noise and you try your luck, don't you? You'd rather blow the whistle and check it after if you're not sure. I was and quite a few Man Utd fans were sure.

"Effort is never a problem with these boys. They are working hard in training to improve. They were a bit passive at the start. We could have taken more risks going forward."

6 of Uniteds next 7 games are away and the one home game is v Liverpool. Badly need Wan Bissaka, Shaw and Martial back for Sunday.

Seen a new style, a new so called philosophy and so called strategy year on year for 7 years now. We are still falling. Yes I am negative, believe me i tried to be positive but this is bad and convincing yourself we are going anywhere will only lead to more disappointment. Agree on James and AWB being great signings but youth? I see no Gomes, no Garner, Greenwood gets a cameo here and there. We played Matic and Mata in previous games. Why is Pogba sitting so deep? Ole has told him too. He wants to take no risk he would rather not lose than not win. I would be positive losing 2 0 to Arsenal if we had a style. We have no style, i really do not understand what type of football we are playing. It is slow, boring and laboured. For me it is not about results during the transition, it is about changing the way we play and from what i have seen since Feb, we are no better than when jose was here. It is terrible.
Ole has already adressed this. He clearly wanted to fix our defensive problems, and he is close to doing it. I'm still not sure about Lindelof, and kind of hope that Tuanzebe steps up and takes his spot. And get someone to kick Young out of the team, so when Shaw is injured we have a decent backup.

You can't fix all problems at once, and i am sure that our offensive style will get clearer as time goes on. We forget really fast that both Pep and Klopp used longer than one season to get their style in. Pep was GOD awaful his first season, and Klopp was not far better.

Can people just please let a season go by before all the hammers go out? I will not be as positive either if by the end if this season i don't see us improving in attack, but 12 games in Ole first season with still a AVERAGE team i choose to remain patient.

In couple of years, we'll be exactly like Ac Milan now. Used to be a giant but no one cares now.

My eyes are still hurting. We play football like actual midtable clubs.

You guys should watch the post game. Giggs and Big Pete are asking very interesting questions right now.

When did Man Utd get relegated for the last time, one hundred years ago?

A fair result, a loss would have been hard on both teams and no team deserved the win. You can't say either team lacked effort, there's just too many average players on both sides, it's that simple. It's both scary and sad to see how far both have fallen in terms of genuine quality.

The first 20 mins we bossed it but didn't create all that much and then Arsenal got back into the game. Arsenal started the 2nd half better and then we took control again but the quality in both teams isn't great.

I thought that although the forwards and defenders of both teams had mixed games, Mctominay, Pogba and Guenduzi were all impressive and tried to force things. Guenduzi looks a very good player for them.

This would be my approach now.

More bodies forward. Release Pogba. Not all about blind pace on the wings; Mata drifting around LWF finding space and the runs of others, plus natural left foot for balls in from that side. Greenwood striker due to actually being able to use both feet. Tuanzebe is better than Lindelof as an athlete and with touch and composure. Bring Smalling back from his loan as he is better than Lindelof defensively.

One DCM as opposed to two. Energy from Pereira to get back for cover. But we need people further up the pitch and in the box. Still play out from the back. But if it gets tight then there'll be runners ahead of the ball instead the arid desert of a final third that we currently persist with.

More from Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to BBC Sport: "I thought how many times have we been 1-0 up and not got the second goal? This is a steep learning curve for us and we'll keep working hard and with more experience, we'll make the right decisions.

"I think the start of the second half we didn’t get out of the blocks quick enough. It felt like Arsenal were the more proactive until they scored their goal.

"I felt we could get a goal at the end and we sent men forward. I‘ve been in that situation as a player when you come off and think you could’ve got more out of a game, but we’ll learn from this."

On the VAR decision: "It was the right decision by VAR - but maybe we could’ve had a penalty as well?"

Disappointing really. Felt like that game was there for the taking and we had all the momentum at one point but it gradually sapped away.

The lack of a proper goalscorer in this side is costing us big time - Martial can't come back soon enough. We're fortunate the gap to 4th is still only 3 points, most other years the teams in those positions would already be out of sight.

He really looks so lost sat in that dugout at times, then you read his post match quotes and fills you with absolutely no confidence at all.

I enjoyed that match, was competitive and feisty, James was exciting as were our counters, especially our goal, what a strike from our MoM McTominay, just a shame he couldn't put away that header and win us the match. I thought it would be 1-1 before the game, just because we can't score more than one and they can't keep clean sheets, and they had enough firepower to get a goal. Just a shame it was such a soft goal to concede.

Thought the double substitution was a good idea, and thought we did try to get the win, but as usual just lacked the quality to get it. Wish me gave the ball to James more, he was our biggest threat.

Just hope we can get our full strength side back after the International break and start playing a settled team that can build cohesion.

I have to admire that kind of blue sky thinking.... maybe I’m just a miserable, entitled old so and so...

But personally... I think that we are utter garbage...

When our best player is a ‘huff and puff’, tidy, but ultimately incredibly limited footballer who wouldn’t get minutes for City’s under 23 side...

And we have only score twice in 1 out of the last 15 games...

I think it’s time to call it as it is... CR@P

Whatever you have for breakfast... please can you ship a load to Ordsall... I think I need some for Monday mornings!

We’re not really achieving much as a team, while individual performances are not reaching the benchmark for contribution to squad results. The defence keeps throwing wobblers while Rashford and Jesse are almost liabilities in some of their play. We’re simply too light in numbers and ability to set out with game plans for strong results. Instead players are being selected to fitness and availability rather than forming a solid spine or configured to properly counter opponents. Time is fast running out as games and fixtures mount - it looks like an end of November breaking point.

Terrible match by both sides. “Play it safe” Emery won’t be here next year the guy is clueless shut shop the minute Equalised and played for the draw.

Pepe is a Gervinho in Disguise, another Paul Pogba will start games because of his price tag show flash’s of brilliance and score goals but overall very average player and has no business playing in England’s top flight - not cut out for it.

Underwhelming. Both teams.

Please do not use Klopp and Pep as an example. Yes results were not brilliant but they both immediately had a style that was clear despite both squads needing a big refresh. The advantage they had was they were backed by the board but they were still able to make use with what they have. I do not find Ole astute enough and tactically aware. I hope i am wrong, i hope i eat my words as I hate changing managers but unfortunately that is just modern football. Ole needs to show us 'negative' fans something. I just cannot see it when we play the way we do. De gea, Maguire, Pogba and Martial is a good spine to have. I an hoping that martial is the missing piece.

We've been witnessing it for years but our full backs are still a big problem. AwB obviously is a good player but I don't think any of our fullbacks are particularly good at attacking. Young looks finished, there's still big question marks on Shaw, and others like Rojo and Axel are obviously centre backs asked to to do a job.

2 very average teams on show tonight.

Struggling to score and still soft at the back.

Not much can improve with this squad.

I’m probably in a minority of one but I am sensing a painfully slow rebirth. There’s no obvious identity coming through yet but I do feel there’s more intensity to our game, a bit more urgency. De Gea, AWB, Maguire, McTominay, James, possibly Rashford are here for the long term and these are all talented players with bags of improvement to come.

A big January to come and an even bigger summer in 2020 but with some clever recruitment we’ve got something to build on.

The only urgency I see in our team is in chasing down goalkeepers and similar lost causes. For all our urgency, we're not translating it into goalscoring chances. Apart from the goal, we created one chance from a corner and one from a late free kick. Last time around against West Ham, despite being a goal down for 50 minutes, we only managed to create one counter-attacking opportunity and one from a corner.

I fail to see what we're about to improve if our players aren't coached into how to play against a settled defense. It's just hit and hope, and we're hitting it into players with no striker's instinct at all. We're putting a bunch of balls into the middle but nobody's telling our striker (or he's too obsessed with his own hype to understand instructions) that he shouldn't be dicking around next to the penalty spot as the ball is flashed across the goal.

My worry is that we could buy a brand new starting XI but we would still look shit under the current coaching team.

Fair point, we just don’t create enough. Been like this for years and I don’t know what will make it change.

Even Moyes beat those at Old Trafford. This supposed "rebuild" will end in tears. This "team" is going nowhere it is crystal clear. Some say "we create chances but we don't finish" but that's not true. We are plain awful at creating clear goalscoring opportunities.

We didn't create anything against Rochdale. We didn't create anything against West Ham. We created some chances against 3rd placed team in that shitty Kazakhstan League. Nothing against Leicester other than a suspect penalty. Nothing against Southampton & Palace either. Chelsea game's scoreline flattered us. Can't remember us creating so many chances against Wolves either.

It's the same story today. Absolute devoid of quality from both teams. We only score or create something from individual quality like James' pace, McTominay's shot today, James' shot against Palace & Southampton etc. and not through our coaching-tactics-gameplan etc.

Just like Moyes period, we'll break all the negative records this seson. 9 points after 7 games :houllier: And we didn't even play City, Pool or Spurs yet. I fear from these games' possible scorelines tbh.

Worst Man United squad in the Premier League era + Worst Man United manager in the Premier League era = Worst Man United team in the Premier League era.

It's simple as this really.

How bad does lingard have to play before greenwood starts instead of him? I’ve defended lingard a lot in the past but he’s been woeful this season. Rashford needs benching for a few games injured or not. His confidence is shot.
Fred looked ok when he came on.
Frustrating their goal came from a gift and we didn’t get the clear handball for a pen. I thought var was for clear and obvious errors. Well that definitely was one.
All a bit meh though. From both teams.
