I wouldn’t be handling training sessions, certainly, so I would need to rely on coaching staff in this regard. I would also require an able assistant manager to handle tactics and substitutions during matches. There would’ve been extensive hiring activity here as our current coaches can’t even teach players to take corners and free kicks. But I would have vetoed selecting Lingard, Mata, Matic, Jones and Young for match day squad on the basis of shit performance, that would have been done on day one.

In terms of pure managerial work, of course I would - Ole tolerates and even encourages underperformance. It’s like on my actual job - I am not that much into technical nuances of the job my subordinates are doing (there are deputies for it), but rather supervise the department as a whole, and work on winning new business / negotiations with clients and prospects.
This is why we should all thank the Lord for the creation of Football manager. Great posts such as this would not exist without it.

Less than half predict we will beat 19th placed Newcastle?
Probably the most realistic prediction there has been for a while. The bookies give us just under a 50% chance of victory.

Reckon we'll have 3 shots or more on target and come away from Newcastle cock-a-hoop
I just predicted us to win 5-0.

My logic.. well, I've been going with two nils lately and we end up scoring 1. So if I predict 5 and we score 4... hey ho. Clutching at straws???

Hope I am not eating my words but I can see us wining today with a bit to spare , we are not a great team but we are still a lot better than Newcastle are right now.

Newcastle are one of the few teams in the league I actually think we can beat, and even by maybe more than one goal, because as bad as we are, they're even worse, so I think we'll win this one.

They’re about the same age. Unless he’s referring to off the pitch antics... Now I’m worried too.
How the hell they are the same age, one is 26 and the other 21.

Do you think that Jesse is 20/21?

Neither, actually. He’s past his prime and indicative of the state of the squad at Ole’s disposal. My point was the number of players in today’s squad in their prime is worrying.
He's not indicative of the squad at all. Matic and Young? Yes. Grant? No. He doesn't play and isn't expected to play. He's a 3rd choice goalie. They are either older players like him or really young players like J.Pereira.

Not just me, I’m afraid. But I have been following Man Utd for over 25 years, so I’ve seen enough to be able to judge whether a certain player (aka Matic, Mata or Lingard) is shit and doesn’t even deserve a professional contract, let alone a starting spot.

There is one more player of this “calibre” in the squad - Jones - but he no longer plays or makes the squad even, so perhaps we may disregard him.

This is what's wrong with our fan base.

The level of delusion in this one is high.

It's similar to the Google doctors and anti-vaxx people. Playing football manager or reading some football related articles on Internet doesn't make you an expert.

This is the type of team I'd like to see us play considering what players we have available.
I did not include any players listed as injured on Physio Room website.
I've got Rashford and Greenwood as a strike partnership with Gomes behind them playing as a no.10.
Shaw and Dalot playing as attacking FBs who hopefully get forward and put crosses into the box for Rashford and Greenwood.
Midfield 3 of Pereira, Fred and McTominay. Pereira can cross or shoot coming in from the left on his right foot. Fred can cross or shoot coming in from the right on his left foot.
If Pogba plays, he plays in place of Gomes.
James is on the bench because I think Rashford and Greenwood is a better strike partnership and also I think at the present time James is better as an impact sub when we want to counter attack.
Tuanzebe can be given a chance as Lindelof played against Alkmaar.

This is Ole. The team will be as predictable as ever:

DDG, Rojo, Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot/Young, Matic, McT, James, Mata, Pereira, Rashford.

Starting Mata and Matic together is suicide but he won’t have learnt his lesson from the West Ham game.

    2-1 to Newcastle.

    I stand corrected. Haha

Fred gave one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a midfielder at Man Utd on Thursday and he gets picked today? Have we no fecking standards at all?

Bench included that is generally a bottom half at best level PL team.

    Absolutely disgusting

1-1 and another shameful performance incoming. Rashford to prove once again is a bang average player with little game IQ.

Decent team and probably the best he could have picked with the injuries. Big chance for Fred and Pereira to show something.

How the feck does Fred get rewarded for that abomination of a performance on Thursday?

Don't hate the lineup (apart from Pereira being seemingly our starting right winger). Gomes and Greenwood to come on for Pereira and Mata hopefully, but I like Fred being there next to McTominay finally with Pogba out. I like Tuanzebe starting over Lindelof as well, and Dalot at right back (given the players out).

Let's hope Rashford can get a goal then get some confidence.

I really hope Mata has a good game. I genuinely can't remember the last time he played well.
