Wow. The speed at which this happened is stunning. Clearly there were talks behind Poch's back before he was sacked.
Which is the entire point that you seem miss. He is literally talking about the grandeur of the clubs, the reason Inter are considered underachievers in CL is because they were seen as one of the clubs supposed to win it.
Not sure if I'm the one missing the point, anyways lets agree to disagree. Had enough posts praising Jose.
He only signed a massive contract with Sky recently to become a pundit. What happens with that now?

I'm sure he'll win them a trophy. I'm also sure it'll all come crashing down after a couple of years.

Levy has lost his marbles honestly! But at the same time Jose sure loves his 30+ year olds, so he should feel right at home with this aging squad. He's just said in a statement Spurs have 'great heritage' He totally disregarded Man United's heritage, and we actually have one.

I'd say its pretty standard for "working" managers to have a clause inserted when working as pundits stating they are out if a job comes round they want.

)Clubs negotiate players before selling and probably don't communicate to the player that they already have a signing for his place. Why should it happen with managers?
This might turn out be very good signing. Jose wins trophies, even if Spurs win domestic cup it should give them huge lift. Squad need something to celebrate for all the work they have done in last 4-5 years.

My sincerest condolences to all Spurs fans.
He's had almost a full year off which I'm pretty sure is the longest break he's had in his career. Might have been just what he needed to recharge the batteries a bit. I expect it'll still fall apart long-term, but he might do some good things with them in the first season or two.
Probably had a termination clause if anything opened up. Sky wins either way, good to have him in the studio, even better to have him active in the league, and at Spurs ! They are licking their lips at the incomings meltdowns.

That's the thing. Although he has been given a good length contract and you know there is a good chance he will get them that elusive trophy, he will whinge his way out of the job.
Still can't understand how this happened nor believe it. After his recent toxic escapades I thought there would be absolutely no way any club at the top level would want him but looking at Spurs in particular I actually think their squad fits the way Jose wants to play perfectly.
One thing we all know is that it will fall apart sooner or later but what happens before that is tough to predict. I think they'll have a good start under him but once the summer comes and Levy needs to do some spending the toxic shit show will begin. He'll be sacked within a season or two.

Poch had to go, was never Jose's biggest fan TBH, but if he brings us even some success it will be a positive appointment. Will miss Poch however.
Jose said this was the case when he made his first appearance on Sky. That he was still looking for a top job, and that he would only be sticking around in the TV studio for as long as it took for the right managerial opportunity to present itself.
It will be interesting to see how he treats the Premier League pundits now he's worked with many of them. And it will be interesting to see how they treat him when things start going wrong again.

What was very evident to me when Jose was our manager was his stubbornness, the modern game has progressed but his style and ideologies has not. His man management is poor, I don't think he ever won over the WHOLE squad, only segments of it.
This is also strikes me as a very odd decision from Spurs, they know what they will get from Jose and he doesn't seem to fit the ambition, style of play etc. I feel they;'ve gone for a "big name" rather than putting the clubs best interest first.

Both, we aren't big enough to survive "competitively" not remaining in the top 4 in the long term, its just the nature of the game right now.
It's their follow up to the All or Nothing which had City. Dream scenario for Amazon really. If Mourinho can implode while getting Spurs relegated, it would beat the likes of 'Sunderland till I die' in terms of drama. One can only hope though.

As much as I dislike him and for all his faults, if I were a spurs fan I'd be dead excited right now.

We've been there. Many of us had those thoughts. We know how this plays out.
His success will depend on the spending money he’s given. I don’t think he’ll achieve much with the squad as it is, although they do already have some very good players. At least he doesn’t need to go out and spend £90m on a striker like he did with us.
That statement is a sufficient reason to be it an "in between" appointment.
