So i think we can all agree that the most interesting aspect of today's game was the team sheet. The youngest team United have ever fielded in Europe, numerous debuts and probably a few players many on here haven't seen playing for us before.

Personally i thought Levitt played really well and is someone who i haven't seen before. I was obviously aware of him, but I've never seen the kid play the game so that was nice to see. Thought Garner was steady and Laird was good. I have to say, i'm slightly lukewarm on Gomes. Ive watched him a couple of times now and he just doesn't quite do it for me.

Anyway, who out of all those youngsters (no Lingard jokes please!) do you think will still be around the club in the next five years to be part of the first team?

Tuanzebe and maybe Greenwood, if we're lucky

most of the "hopefuls" need to spend a few years in the Championship

I liked the looks of Garner, Levitt, Laird. Greenwood will be here for sure. Tuanzebe maybe, but not sure about others.

Hard to tell as it's not the question of just talent. Don't think anyone expected players like McTominay to be first choice player 2-3 seasons ago and at the same time had players like Wilson, Will Keane, Tom thorpe as bigger chances of making it at United.

From the current squad I would go with Greenwood, Garner, Tuanzebe and Laird. Will be lucky if all 4 of them make it.

From today’s lot - Greenwood and Laird most likely for me. Maybe that James Ghana fella too, although I’m less confident of him.

Gomes is a funny one because he might not make it or he might end up being one of the best of them. He's got the toolkit, but needs to learn how to apply it to senior football.

So far, I’d say Greenwood & Tuanzebe.

Tonight was the 1st time I’ve seen Laird play and I liked what I seen but I’m not going to say “100% yes, he will make it here” after only seeing him after 1 match.

Garner & Gomes are 50-50. The rest, I don’t think will make it here.

Greenwood and Tuanzebe. Perhaps Garner as a squad player.
Martin Ødegaard was a ok reserve team player for Real Castilla when he was 18, now he' one of the best midfielders in La Liga.

The point is that the book is slightly early to conclude that James Garner won't develop into more than a squad player.

Most likely they're more Fergie's Fledglings than the Class of 92. So no more than 1.

Lee Grant as a 41 year old 267th choice keeper :p

In order of likelihood IMHO - 1) Greenwood, 2) Tuanzebe, 3) Garner, 4) Laird, 5) Gomes. The others? I'm not so sure. Many of us, myself included, tend to hype our youngsters up too much.

And many fans write them off to early.

5 years is a long time in football. Greenwood should be. Tuanzebe hopefully.

That's all I feel comfortable with. The others aren't bad but we've seen plenty of promising youngsters hang around for a few years and then move on.

The only one that I have any form of confidence in is Greenwood. His general play is lacking and, outside of shooting, he has very little impact on the games he has played for the first-team. However, he has shown some good signs in regards to dribbling and he is able to score with both feet. I think he has the most chance.

Possibly Tuanzebe, but I think he may end up at a lower PL club.

Chong has no positives from what I have seen.

Gomes seems to have some skill, but he seems very weak and does not seem to assert himself in games.

Williams seems pretty average defensively; Sheffield United toyed with him all game. He seems decent going forward, but nothing really astounding.

The fact of the matter is that few of them will even be good enough for the Premier League bottom-half teams.

Chong...... well the young lad tries but fails at this level. The others require time at Championship level and do not think Chelsea results. The latter bought up the whole youth system in the Sarf for over 10 years. Greenwood yes. Laird and Tuanzebe maybe.

1st tier: Greenwood, Laird & Tuanzebe should be first 11 since physically they are more of a certainty in my view to impact games.

2nd tier: Gomes, Levitt & Garner. At least one of those could become top quality, Levitt if I had to pick one to do well at United long-term.

Levitt
Garner
Laird
Tuanzebe
Greenwood

Gomes might not make it or he might become an absolute star. The most talented imo but if he'l be able to apply that talent in senior football or not remains to be seen.

Tuanzebe, Laird, Greenwood, Garner. Maybe Gomes depending on his contract situation goes. Will be very lucky to see all of them break through though.
Depends on your definition of Breaking through.

Most of them have broken through, in case shit happens their career is guaranteed at least on championship or lower table level. But if the question is will they broke through and play in a hopefully title challenging Manchester United team (top 4 standard) then I don't think many of them are going to make it

I don't take pride in all those, i don't.

For these reasons:
1. We lost. It's not about points, but anyone can field 11 youngster on a nothing match and lose.
2. It's just a useless cameo for resting players. Most of the boys hasn't deserve their debut yet, they're just thrown there to fill the number
3. I feel Ole is cheating, he uses this fixture to tick one box (field youth, young players, exciting etc) but does it really serves a purposes for the young uns?
4. When Fergie gives a debut, it ussually means that the boys are close to breaking through, and you can expect his debut as the first of many. With the astana match you know this is just a formality, unless you pull a messi you'll be forgotten again in a few year.
5. Basically it's a charity debuts, not a you earn it debut

If I had to put money on it i'd go: Greenwood, Laird, Galbraith and Ramazani, i'd add Axel but got a funny feeling he's got Phil Jones's genes and will spend half his career injured.
What a scathing and unprovoked attack of mrs.tuanzebe. You sir, are a horrible person!

Like life it can also be about timing.

Pique was cursed with his timing at United. But went on to have an above average career at some Spanish club. Could have been a ledge. Wasted.

I think Greenwood will be here some time. He's a natrual goalscorer so managers will be patient with him.
Laird looks promising too.

I dont think Tuanzebe has it, many disagrees, but I just dont see a top CB in him.

Time will tell, hopefully they all make it, but the odds are against them

By breaking through I mean becoming members of the first team or decent squad players for us. Although I know that it is going to be hard because they are not going to get there through talent alone. They are going to have work extremely hard to show how much they want to make it. Then there is question are they going to have the mental strength to succeed here. I really hope so.

Yeah, timing and bit of luck is very important. Rashford was lucky that Will Keane was injured and then he took his chances. Maybe his debut would have been delay if not for Will Keane's injury. Like you said timing is important and also bit of luck too.
