Should have killed the game in the first 20 mins of the second half, but didn't, slowed the game down, started taking too many touches, over-complicating things and didn't adapt to their changes which aided by Utd helped them get back into the game. 30 mins in the game Utd played well, 30 mins very badly and the other 30 were scrappy nothingness, but you can't miss those chances and complain about bad luck.

Rashford strugggled again and Pogba was rather quiet in spells.

We were punished for not putting those chances away, but equally, no chance we should be conceding a goal as Sunday League as the 2nd. Annoyingly, probably some of the nicest stuff we've played in a big match, and on the front foot.

I knew it once the Sevilla subs started coming on that they would sneak a goal.

We need a bigger squad really because we only had shit on the bench tonight.

Sancho and Grealish at the very least. Maybe more.

The first team is OK, but as soon as there is a drop off in form or injury we are in big trouble. He has no options to bring in to give the likes of Maguire a break. How can a big club like us let this happen?

I don’t understand the ones saying this proves we need to sign Sancho. Our defence is atrocious. You can give me all the stats in the world about how many clean sheets they’ve kept and what not, they are absolutely shite. Lindelof is a mistake waiting to happen and Maguire would get left for dust in a foot race with Wes fcuking Morgan.

How many times does a keeper have to "stand on their head" against us in an important game before we just admit that actually we've just been bad at converting excellent chances? Our strikers are doing the hardest bit and then the finishing is so poor that they can't get the ball in the net.

And to play devils advocate - is that actually the issue, or is it the costly defensive mistakes? The strikers are clearly skillful and tricky enough to win us penalties but the defenders (keeper included) aren't holding up their end of the bargain.

Further to all that, our depth on the bench is truly woeful. The state of things when we have to throw James on when we need a goal. He predictably did absolutely nothing, again.

Oh and the lack of attacking threat from our fullbacks is absolutely killing us. We have serious work to do in the transfer window.

I know he’s a local lad and a grafter, young and probably over-promoted due to circumstance. But Williams looked like a competition winner out there. Awful, and completely at fault for the first goal. Poor position then a terrible decision to over cover. And the second he just doesn’t close the man down. Stop the cross. Lesson one of being a full back.

Overall a decent performance but let down by some chronic defending in the end, (By the whole back line, just just Williams) and some woeful finishing.

Haven’t learned much from that. We’re an alright team, with a good first 11 and a wank bench. Manager is alright, nothing more at this moment in time. Big summer ahead.

We were garbage.... and to think, Pogba will be trying to get a 500K contract.... we are simply not good enough.

And I’ll say it again, Rashford is simply not good enough for Manchester United.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
It all fell apart when Pogba who had been excellent until that point tried to ping a ridiculous left footed cross field pass when there were numerous better options on. From that point on we stopped playing it simple which had resulted in numerous chances and just started trying passes that were never on. The last 25 minutes we just seemed to lose confidence, get more desperate, gradually got more knackered and despite Seville creating jack I was just waiting for that one inevitable chance to win it.

From when Seville equalised until around the 60th minute I thought we looked like a genuinely good side. And I’d have taken that from where we were in early January. Now it’s over to Woodward. If this club still has any ambition we have to spend big over the next few weeks. I don’t care how we cobble the money together, go out and get those 3 top signings we need to truly starting competing again.

Dithering on the ball.

Waiting too long to make subs. And people try to compare Ole with Pep.

Was always going to be a tough game but I thought we would sneak through. Puts to shame lots ignorant posters on here this week writing Sevilla off as a pub side because some had the audacity to suggest Sevilla are a good side.
They weren’t that good mate but we’ve made relegation fodder look world class in recent weeks. The signs were there when we were outplayed by West Ham and Soton.

Well organised teams that don’t attack full on give us problems

We’re in the position Liverpool were in before they got VVD and Allison and kicked on. The onus was on the players to turn up tonight and they weren’t up to it. The club needs serious quality bringing in, whether it be Sancho or anyone else who is up to it.
the subs as others have pointed out were handled poorly, but the quality off the bench is none-existent.
we have what is it four weeks now? To bring in players of genuine quality, if we don’t we can look forward to fighting for the top four and getting knocked out of every cup we meet a decent team in again.
Let’s see if the club is as ambitious as it’s fan base.

We won't win anything with Ole at the wheel. He was shocked like the team itself. Did not react, just waited to loose. He had no plan to come back, no idea to change the game. To win something you have to be the leader, Ole gave up today! A shame!

AWB should be fined every time he crosses the half way line. Hes an absolute donkey going forward.

William's is better in the final third and that says alot.

Game should of been put to bed in the first 10 mins of the second half, so many missed chances.

Sancho is a must along with a CB and a LB. Theres so many LBs available for peanuts and we arent looking at any. Typical.

Looked like a carbon copy of our performances earlier in the season. Played decent, but let the game drift and were punished for poor defending and a lack of game management and composure.

Ole's ability to affect games with subs, or even a general change of approach, is worrying. Would have taken Rashford off after 60 mins, and brought on Ighalo, and pushed Martial out wide. Or even Greenwood up top and put Mata on the right.

At that point we were dominating the game, but we just ran out of ideas and lost belief. It was clear to see, and for a man who played under Fergie, the master of impact subs and general ability to just find a way to change games in our favour, it's a bit mind boggling that Ole could sit there and watch us lose control of the match until 80 mins.

That doesn't absolve the players of some poor finishing, towards the end it didn't even look like we really wanted it. When we should have been throwing the kitchen sink at Sevilla, we were messing about with the ball at the back.

Hopefully it will ground the players to knuckle down again and realise that this is the type of opposition we'll likely meet in the group stages of the CL, let alone knock out stages. Needs to be a few questions answered or else we could go out at the group stages with our tails between our legs.

Let’s be real the defence has improved massively but it isn’t water tight. But then again why would it be all of a sudden? We still need to be focusing on a new CB and a new DM.
Agreed, the defence is functional but nowhere near the level it needs to be to compete at the level we want. A CB to properly partner Maguire and compliment him should be a priority.

David Moyes must be happy somewhere. After all, he is the one who told Ferdinand and Vidic they had to watch film of Everton defenders at work. And his attacking style and coaching philosophy is cross, cross, cross.

Seriously, after spending a ton of money on it, we still need to fix our defense. OWB & Lindeloff are not up to scratch. Neither is Harry Maguire, but we paid £80m for him and is our captain. Brandon, well he is still young.

We were very poor in front of goal but if we're being completely honest, I thought we played well enough to get the job done, and on another day we probably would have.

Fred, Bruno and Greenwood were really good. Rashford and Ole's timing of his subs were atrocious. Sevilla are a bunch of cnuts.

Plenty of posters who aren't bothered by this. More time for pre-season!
Well you could look it as being 1.5 years into a 26 year managerial tenure. Because all that really seems to matter at this club.

Either Lindelof or de Gea has to go. I feel like all goals against us are from set pieces or crosses when those two play. I know it wasn't de Gea fault for the second goal but it really is starting to become frustrating not to have a goalkeeper who can catch crosses. And Lindelof is poor at heading average at best and isn't really that fast either. I feel safer with Bailly playing and he does some crazy stuff every game.

No one will want to blame arguably our best player this season but Martial's finishing was aboslutely pathetic tonight.

It was obvious we'd lose after we failed to score at the start of the 2nd half, just put the fecking ball in the net lads.
Martial isn’t world class. He’s a “good” striker.

good strikers score 20 goals a season. World class score 30+

we need a world class striker

We had enough chances to win three semi-finals but couldn't take them. I said in the match thread that it isn't possible to waste so many clear chances in a European semi-final and get away with it. Right on queue, comedy defending for their winner.

Were we the better team? Definitely.
Did we deserve to win? No. Such profligacy is criminal at this level. Rashford, Martial and Greenwood all guilty of wastefulness. Add to that the defence being incapable when asked to do their job for virtually the only time in the second half, and you get your just desserts.

Nobody to blame but ourselves. And I wouldn't put this on Ole; he can't go on the pitch and finish great chances for the players, as he would undoubtedly have finished them as a player. Sometimes the players must man up and say they didn't do the business.

We should have won that tie easily. I'm fuming at a massive opportunity thrown away. Well done to the Sevilla keeper; he was the difference.

United - we all know - are a work in progress. Greenwood will hopefully mature. I think James was a poor buy, hope he proves me wrong. Great core with Pogba and Hernandez. Rashford simply not up to scratch at this level. You can be potentially great all your life ... Not sure about AWB. Mixed on him. I think Williams will turn out to be a great player.... So... let’s hope those ugly Glazers give the okay for a decent spend on about four key positions so we can enjoy next season.

Proud of the lads. Thought we played well against a very experienced and good outfit. Was seriously dreading this game after recent performances but apart from that absolute brainfart at the end we were good. Shoulda put our chances away, simple as. But the keeper played a blinder, it happens. Fred played well and again showed that give him a few games in a row and he'll reward you. Why didn't James dive for that cross? His decision making is so so frustrating. Gets the ball and goes inside into all the traffic instead of outside. Seriously dumb. And our bench? Oh dear. Think that's the worst bench we've had post COVID. Cos all our top players were playing. Maybe Ole could've brought Ighalo on a bit sooner. Think it might've changed the game. But all in all a good game and well done lads at the end of a very long, very hard season. Rest up and lets go again. Hopefully with some good reinforcements.

Sevilla didn't need Sancho to beat us.
Sevilla had a bench capable of beating us. We've had the same players playing every single game since March because Ole doesn't trust the bench. It's pretty simple.

First 20mins we should've been more than 1-0 up, we just weren't clinical enough. Credit were credit is due, they defended well and were very compact.

Sadly, 3 out of 3 semi finals lost, not good for us going forward, seems to be a mental block.

Missed opportunities are the theme of the night. Many missed opportunities cost us the game when we could have put it to bed. Probably the better team in the first half, and had a great period of dominance at the start of the second. Nothing to show for it is very disappointing.

I did think waiting until 87th for a sub in such an important game is ridiculous. Ighalo or Mata could have come on a lot ealrier and perhaps made a difference. At least tried something different.

3rd semi final lost this season. Poor record, some serious missed opportunities there. A night that promised a lot, but we couldn't deliver.

Should have won. Very good chances that we snatched at, plus a moment of chaos where they threw bodies infront of everything. They had 2 chances and scored them both. We were just not composed in front of goal.

Poor defending for the first goal, but those things happen. The 2nd goal was inexcusable. Maguire watches it go by him, Wan Bissaka watched De Jong sneak in behind Lindelof. Then Lindelof, worst of all, looks like he's about to attack the ball and then just stops dead. Zero communication between AWB and Lindelof. Awful.
I disagree about the goals. Maybe it's because I haven't played football much.

But I thought the first goal was definitely avoidable cuz AWB should have kept up with Reguilion and prevented the cross.

2nd goal was a beautiful cross no?
