Diego Carlos is shocking so far watching him in quarter, semi and final. it's like watching Rojo.

Sevilla was trying to rip clubs apart by set 70m on him.

Edit: The overheadkick ability cost 70m

Skriniar would be the one for me. He is clearly available and likely to move if conte stays.

He would be as close to a vidic clone as we could get. Perfectly suited to the premier league with his aggression and strength.

From all accounts he seems to have played poorly in a 3 man back line, but he was one of the best defenders in Europe last season in a back four.

If he costs 50m euros, maybe we can swap for Smalling and cash.

Low risk and high reward signing. Someone who could come in from day 1 and potentially dominate. No more soft centrebacks who gets bullied in the air.

Isn't Skriniar quite slow?

He can look awkward And stiff at times. That’s been a constant criticism. However, I wouldn’t say he is slow. He is just as quick as any top centreback.

The only problem is conte has him playing so far wide in a back 3 that he is almost a fullback at times. Not his best position.

Watched what I can find of Badiashile, looks quite tasty. Only 19. Would not say no to that..
I've been massively impressed with what I've seen of Badiashile, not just his huge physical prescence (6ft 4") and speed, but that he can ping accurate 40-50 yards passes about the pitch.
He looks like a really special talent, couple of years from now we'll probably be trying to sign him at £90m quid or more.

Yeah I would like us to go for him now unless we are very confident of getting Upamecano next year

Not very experienced but anyone of Torres, Upamecamo or Badiashile will do for me.

Really depends if we are prepared to wait until next summer for Upamecano,if not then would go Badashile as my preferred choice out of him and Torres.

I do actually think we shouldn’t go spend more than 35m or more than 40m on cenre back now that we already have Maguire. Someone with pace, can handle crossings, no rushing on tackles & no injury record will do.

Well Badiashile is the only one available this summer that would be around that £30-£35m price range

prepared to wait until next summer = make no serious effort to challenge for medals next season.
I only say that because of the release clause becoming active then, however we really need to be signing someone this summer

Yes, cant really judge as only reason seen him in Europa league, but after Hargreaves bigging him up so much, I was almost shocked how poor he was. Athletic, stron and with ability but like Rojo no brain on him whatsoever, almost like whenever an oopnent with the ball was near him he was a lit stick of dynamite

Of the players I think we have a decent chance of signing its Upamecano all day long, price wise its Badiashille.

The perfect signing for us though I cant see it happening is without a shadow of a doubt Romagnoli. Just ticks all of the boxes of what we need:

Left Footed - Check
Quick - Check
Leader - Check
Experienced - Check
Organise the rest of the defence around him - Check

Only problem I think is he wont want to leave Milan, they wont want to sell him......will take a Maguire like fee and big wages to convince both otherwise.....something we should have done last summer anyway instead of signing Maguire if it was/is at all possible

Diego Carlos actually had a very good season even if he did give 3 penalties away in 3 games :D
but at 27 we should be looking at someone a bit younger. I'd go all in for his sidekick Jules Kounde. Only 21 and has all the attributes to make it at the highest level.

After watching EL and CL last weeks i really dont see anyone that would make us better. Save the money, keep Smalling and adress other areas. Get a commanding GK first!

Even at 35, Thiago Silva is a better CB than what we have. As a free transfer, i dont know why we aren’t looking at him.

Maguire, Lindelof, Silva and a left-footed CB signing, and we are good for next season.

Smalling, Jones, Rojo and Bailly can all go.

Skriniar would be the perfect signing. he is not slow at all. Reliable and consistent if played in his best position.

We'd get fleeced and he isnt the finished product yet, but I really like the look of Soyuncu. Proper defender. He'll end up at a top four club in 2-3 years imo. I wonder how much he'll cost, probably around 60.

I'm convinced people who have been touting Skriniar as a solution for our eternal CB issues have never watched him play. He's slow as feck and mediocre at best, with his feet. Massively overrated.

Skriniar must be the most overrated CB in this forum. When and why he became world class or anything like that? If im right he is not even starter anymore for Inter?

What about Malang Sarr, isn't he available on a free?

I think Bailly has shown improvement at the back of the season and with Axel coming back along with Victor one of them should be able to get some sort of consistency to partner Harry.

I watched him many times and he is faster than Maguire or Lindelof. Not the best ball distributor though.

Not sure why people are recommending Skriniar. He’s not very good.
Because he got compared to Vidic once, the same reason people kept talking up Strootman because some posters compared him to Keane once upon a time. As we've seen with Smalling's performances the CBs in Serie A were massively overhyped. Not to say that there arent good ones that are younger than he is, but he was top 3 in the league with Godin and De Vrij - Godin who was statistically better than Smalling and De Vrij who was voted the best overall CB in the league. But they got to play with each other and for a much better team than Roma.

Why are we not all over Malang sarr, he’s going on a free transfer and he’s only 21, so he fits the profile of players Solskjær this wants.

Shame i think we just missed that boat. Chelsea have swooped. He was a leader at Nice and has the skillset so be a opportunity missed if he kicks on at chelsea.

This is exactly my thoughts. Couldn’t be more right for us in so many ways. Yet doesn’t seem like we’re even half interested.

Why should we go after a young free transfer CB. We have Mengi and Tuanzebe who we give a try. We need an experienced CB

I think he would complement our current groups (Maguire, Lindeloff, Axel +/- Bailly) due to his speed and that he is a left footed CB (although I personally think that whole concept is overrated).

Plus he is free, so wouldn’t tie up funds we need for RW and DM positions more.

And re Mengi - I personally don’t see him featuring much for the first team next year anyway.
