LB is a top priority. You can bet your life Shaw is gonna be injured by November.
RW next in line.
This is going to be the most intensive season in terms of schedule and perhaps even in terms of competition.
I think we will get both, LB and RW, but Sancho wont be a UTD player this season

What exactly Zorc is doing wrong from Dortmund perspective?
Doesn't want to sell player? Shame on him. Wants to sell him for best price? Shame on him again.
I’m not going to keep repeating this over and over again. I've previously explained this in another post, can't be bothered posting it again. Maybe ask Aubameyang what he thinks of your precious Zorc.

what confuses me is that our briefing was to confirm

1. We got an agreement with Sancho 2 days ago on personal terms
2. Sancho is now "pushing the deal"

So BVB decided the sancho deal was dead a month ago, we decide to brief 2 days ago that we just agreed player terms. This cannot be to save face because it makes woodward look like a complete idiot, and even he's not stupid enough to miss that contradiction. So the only logical answer is that we briefed the press to get Sancho to go public. If BVB are pounding it into their mouthpieces that "the deal is dead" and we are briefing we agreed terms 2 days ago, it can only be about Sancho making a public move right?

Woodward cannot be that stupid, surely even the simplest person would question why we announced a player agreement 2 days ago for a deal that allegedly was "not possible" a month ago. Can anyone else give me another explanation?

so there really wasn't an actual breakthrough of any kind then. I bet it got United a shit tonne of clicks on social media though and the united website.

we've wasted our entire 'summer' on a dead parrot deal. We now have a week to find alternatives from clubs who will know we are desperate. Most likely our summer business is done and we should just crack on with the fight for 4th, 5th, 6th with Arsenal, Wolves and Spurs

Sancho will need to submit a transfer request, that much is clear.
Right? That is literally the only way our briefing makes sense? How can we agree personal terms with a player 2 days ago, for a deal that was allegedly dead a month ago?

we couldn't have negotiated with Sancho and his agents without their consent, so their whole "the deal is dead" posturing means little. In the end, we'll make an offer, they'll reject it and then Sancho has to force it. Dortmund can vilify him publicly and we get the player, everybody wins.

This has been explained months ago.
Sancho asking for the move provides cover to Zorc for breaking his promise.
I'm sure Sancho has agreed with Woodward that he will submit an official request to leave as soon as a bid is submitted.

Pretty much this. Dortmund can say the deal is dead all they like - until the point we actually make the move.

I still don't really understand WHY we haven't made an official move yet, there has to be a reason? I think we are waiting until the last moment for them to either - find a proper replacement / scare them into selling for the lowest price possible.

Will we cave in and pay them £120m euros? Will they adjust and accept bonuses? it's the fact that nobody really knows the reason which is frustrating.

I assume the stumbling point is they want 120m euros guaranteed where as we want to pay them in bonuses.

Who said it was dead a month ago? Not United. Seems to be the agent fees were agreed, and that was the brief, the club probably briefed it to get the wheels moving a bit on the transfer itself.

Get all the fans buzzing, get the German press talking about it again, then BANG - we go in big with the bid. Sets it up nicely.

United are not dumb to keep these rumours in the air if there is no encouragement from BVB's end. We are pursuing him and if there was some BvB resistance, they would have quashed the rumours like they had done previously.

They agreed a deal with you. Maybe they already had weeks ago. But even if the break through occurred now, you're interpreting much into it. It's absolutely possible that the negotiations with Sancho's camp are absolutely independent from those with Dortmund.

If you make them an offer they can't refuse, obviously they will. But I doubt that number will be 120m now. I even doubt they'd sell for 130m at this point. You'd have to do something really crazy.

The alternative is that Dortmund bluffed and you correctly predicted it. I was completely sure that was impossible until yesterday and still lack the imagination that it might happen to be honest. The outrage of Dortmund fans would be similar to you selling Greenwood to Liverpool at this stage.
I’m not sure what you’re on about. Multiple transfers every year happen like this. Dortmund, the same club that consistently sell their best players to their direct rivals, wouldn’t sell to us if the price is right? And their fans who’ve heard it all before in world football would be as outraged as United fans if we sold Greenwood to Liverpool?

What am I reading?

They said the same about Dembele and Aubameyang before selling them in the closing stages of the window. It means nothing.

This briefing will go down as a similar lie as "urgent transfer business" from ed if utd don't submit any type of bid.

Regarding the bolded bit. I think it's a mix of things.

I think Dortmund would like to announce a new signing or have one lined up before they sell Sancho. Also I think we are happy to let it rumble on as it avoids us having to pay the wages, sounds silly but if you add up what we save by signing him just before the deadline compared to the beginning of this window it's a few million.

I think if they find a replacement this may soften their stance on the repayment amounts and how they are spread.

Plus maybe we are happy to still work on selling a few players before we go in and bid with our highest possible initial instalment. Because that's going to be key, if we offer something low like £50million as the initial up front payment then it will be a non starter.

I still find annoying that people don't get it or try not to. Its not like we're trying to get Sancho from Real Madrid, Barcelona, City etc where when they say they won't sell for any price you have to take it seriously.

That urgent transfer business was one of the funniest and most depressing happenings in that Moyes window. He went missing for weeks.

Why would you discard the possibility that terms have actually been agreed with Sancho?
Because Romano has been saying the same has been agreed a long time ago. Nothing specific about utd bid, no details about how much Woodward is willing to pay etc. Still hopeful that there will be some positive update very soon, otherwise I will consider this as a pure media game from Ed.

Its pretty obvious that the only way this deal happens is United make our offer of £108m, Dortmund initially reject it, Sancho comes out and requests they accept it and then they go back on everything they've been saying and accept the offer for a player "not wanting to be there anymore". There's pretty much no scenario where it's a normal negotiation or something that Dortmund will accept less or even accept in the first place without Sancho requesting to leave. Just don't see it happening this summer.

Hopefully the club backs ole. Top 3 is pretty much settled with city, chelsea and pool. Other teams have improved their squads as well.
