I'm not a massive Ole fan, but he gets a complete pass from me this season when we give up on sancho. We battled Chelsea for 4th for so long last season. The result of that was Chelsea basically buying Europe. Ole gets one rotation player.
I agree mostly. During the start of last season I said I thought it was time to replace Ole as our shocking end to the previous season was continuing and we just looked so devoid of any ideas, however the signing of Bruno and the development of the front 3 brought back shades of what we'd initially seen when he took over and it was a run that stretched the majority of the second half of the season. Those injections of confidence (Ole taking over from Jose, Bruno signing) made me think that this summer we'd really look to ride the wave of finishing 3rd and make a serious statement in the window whilst looking to start the new season with a bang. If VDB is the only reinforcement Ole is given to improve a good team but a poor squad then I'll not be blaming him if fatigue and injuries quickly derail our season, we're currently relying on a 19 year old Greenwood to be our starting right winger with his cover being Mata ffs.

Things are truly desperate that we've had to resort to clinging to reports from The Sun.

Some other dodgy paper - maybe the Mirror - reported similar this morning.
They all cite the same report from the Dagbladet so in this case it doesn't really matter how much of a garbage paper The Sun or the Mirror is.

Well if you are buying the best talent, you have to pay the best price too, it applies to everyone else. Here’s a list of transfer (in Euro) for the best young talents over past few years:

1. Mbappe 180m
2. Dembele 145m
3. Joao Felix 126m
4. Havartz 90m
5. De Ligt 85m
6. De Jong 75m

To be fair, Sancho past 2 years stats and performance can match any of them, he would be among the top 2 most talented with best stats/performance in the above list too. 120m for him, in comparison, isn’t really that too much.
Then why haven't they paid it?

Am I the only true believer left on the caf? It’s starting to feel lonely in here. :(

Absolutely not bro. I've been on this train from the beginning and am still truly well aboard.

I also posed this question the other day and got plenty of muppets replying showing their belief too so we are certainly not alone.

I’m still here, waiting patiently with belief.

Stay strong believers!

Seconded. Not getting a complete pass from me but the board is letting him down

I am still cautiously optimistic on this and I believe we're leaving it to the very end to try and get a discount. However things can degenerate quickly. It only takes 1 other club to want him or for Dortmund to lose out on his replacement.

Honestly I can't understand this board. Sure 100m+ is big money even in normal circumstances let alone during covid. However we knew about covid for quite a while. Surely we could switch targets and go for a humbler transfer strategy if we wanted. If we got Gabriel, Telles, VDB, and Cengiz Under wrapped up then few would be complaining about us not getting Sancho. It's not perfect but we would have improved the squad which is a step to the right direction. Instead we went big only to refuse to meet the price Dortmund were always going to ask for Sancho. That's ridiculous. We're setting Ole to fail.

Not really, Haaland's buyout clause only available in 2022.
Yes that’s correct. But there’s a belief that a lot of teams could bid for him next summer with a bid higher than the clause in order to get him before others try and get him the year after.

I bet Woodward is secretly delighted there's no fans at OT this weekend. He'd have been in for a very uncomfortable time no doubt.

I always felt that it would be very hard to get him this summer due to the dire financial circumstances but the fact the club have allowed the endless debate and rumour mill to just keep ramping up has done them no good whatsoever. If we'd have walked away early doors and moved on fans would have still been gutted but would have got over it. The fact we haven't has just made people think it's happening still. They have almost now put themselves into a position where they have to buy him or there will be outrage whilst at the same time the selling club seem happy to keep him. Stuck between a rock and a hard place basically.

Dortmund don't seem to be strongly linked with many players though which is the concern. Surely they don't sell one of their best players for such a huge fee and don't replace him?

Right, all of that is true.
We will basically need a lot of internal development for us to be competitive this season.
We will need all of our front 3 to make another leap which isnt unreasonable to expect especially Mason. Then we will also need the likes of Williams, Laird, Mengi etc to become formidable players. The likes of AWB too, he would need to step it up big time.

Only through really solid internal development do we really get to be on par with Chelsea this year. They bought half of Europe, we basically need half of our team to level up.
Some will. You can put your trust in some of them. Its just that its really the only way.

The sun is out here and I feel a renewed sense of optimism this morning. Happy Sancho weekend is upon us.

I just wear a kimono In Quarantine 24/7 now so I’m always unzipped and ready to go at a moments notice.

Based on absolutely nothing I believe that you are Nostradamus, and I take it for granted that you're right. Friday it is!

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
If he starts tomorrow then I’m out. Now is the perfect time to bid and have him push for a move. If that doesn’t happen then I don’t see anything changing in 2 weeks. I’ll have to go camp myself in a Traore thread instead.

I guess they’re both basing it on the Fredrik Filtvedt tweet yesterday.

This has to happen soon. Liverpool have Thiago now and Spurs have Reguilon and Bale (whatever you think of him, he’s a quality player and a big name). We’re being left in the dust with one signing and zero outgoings.

Seeing how Chelsea strengthening, Liverpool having Thiago, City being at full strength, Tottenham having Bale and Reguilon, plus Kane who is back fit, Everton having James and Richarlison, Leicester having Madison fit and a Vardy who is probably in the final year at the top (given his age), Arsenal you never know what you get but they've kept Aubameyang and have Willian now.

United won't walk top 4 this season, in-fact Tottenham are now in a position to take fourth.

United need 2-3 more players, and they need to ship out the deadwood.
