Well, at least now I know not to be hopeful this season. Gonna expect more of this most of this season.

That was pathetic. Yes the VAR pen was harsh and the retake is laughable. But we were absolute garbage. No quality on the ball from anyone, no creativity, no movement, and then defensively a disaster and constantly open.

The only good thing in that whole shambles was DVB's debut goal. There are no words. Disappointed beyond belief.

Anyone with a bare minimum idea about football and United knows that we needed a RW and CB from last season. 1st game in - we still need a CB and a RW!

What part of that is so difficult to understand??? What... should we just wait till losing these games before reacting? This is on Ed and the board! Ridiculous!

About as bad as it gets, long long season with that lot on show. You can forget challenging, we are light years behind what’s required.

Feel sick. Just kills any hope I had for the season ahead.

What's more worrying is that this was a squad without Mata, Lingard and Andreas. Our worst players aren't making the bench and we are still not good enough.

Another poor start to the season.

Not the end of the world but we just look like we got off the couch. Back to being poor all over the park. Fitness issues etc.

Where is the delivery from the wings?! Even fecking fosu mensah put in a cross that led to a goal. I haven't seen James or Rashford deliver a decent ball in months.

Pogba was poor as well. Understandbly he has barely trained and has been sick for weeks.

Only bright spot is Donny who looked very sharp with his touches and movement. How long before we suck that out of him too?

The penalty decision was harsh, the retaking was harsh. But United players are clearly not match fit.

800m spent since Fergie and we haven't really gone anywhere other than down.

The failure comes from the top. We need to force these twats to sell the club so we can get rid of Woodward as well as the debt.

Never going inside OT ever again until the twats are gone. I'd dance on his grave glady given the chance.

Penalty was a joke
The retake was a joke
The decision to allow teams to change the taker in a retake is a joke
But yes our performance was a joke as well

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ole asked the players to lose on purpose here. Looks like no one was arsed. I’m only half joking.

Terrible performance.Has a defender ever been majorly responsible for 3 goals in one game? If we don’t sign anyone after this, good luck to our mental health this season.

TFM had a few bright moments......that’s about it for positivity and the negatives are too many to count

By far the worst start I could have imagined for the new season. Pretty much puts a big fecking dark cloud over it already from the get go.

Everything went wrong. Everything since the end of last season actually.

No proper rest. No proper preseason. No proper preparation. Only one transfer who was on the bench.

Terrible lineup with obvious wrong choices (that people were excusing before the match). All players looked as knackered as they were at the end of last season. Terrible form from every single one of them.

The problem, the fixture this season will be congested and with this level of physical preparation it'll be a hell of a long season for us.

Might be a bit kneejerk but I think this will be Ole's final season.

Sancho and Telles won't help with disgraceful, gutless performances like today.

Coming back into the new season so unfit is shameful regardless of no pre season, other teams didn't come back so unfit and rusty.

McTominay and James should never play for this club again. Will never get to the level we need to even challenge for top 4 year in year out, never mind back to winning the PL.

Pogba didn't even look bothered and yes on his day he is unplayable but he has far too many games where he is shocking and just looks lazy and uninterested.

£80M for Maguire is madness and Lindelof is worse than Bailly and Smalling, he is meant to be a ball playing cb but he is rubbish on the ball.

Rashford will also never be good enough for where the club aspire to be. Since returning from injury he has been awful. He might play great on a good day but on a bad day he is one of the worst attackers to ever play for Manchester United. This is not hyperbole but I have not seen more than five strikers in the history of the PL as bad as him on a bad day. His bottom level is appalling.

Fernandes was shocking today as well.
See above. I couldn't agree more. Nail on head with so many points

Should have started our best 11. Really naive by Ole and did not respect the opposition at all.

Pogba was terrible as well. Someone should do a montage of every touch he had because he ended up doing something bad with the ball most times.

Dan James was woeful as was Mctominah.

Just fed up at this stage. Might cancel sky sports if things dont get better. I only watch united so no loss really.

I went for 1-1 in the score prediction as I thought we’d be rusty. We were rustier than I thought and Palace were better than I imagined they’d be. It’s gonna be a tough few weeks.

A quick way to utterly demolish any optimism.

There has to be a risk that we're heading towards a Moyes finish here.

We managed to start with a worse 11 than we finished last season with. Ole absolutely schooled by Hodgson. Woodward doesn't give a toss. Top 4? Forget it. I'd be amazed if we finished 8th this season

poor performance, more annoyed how unreadable the forum and twitter will be for the next week than about the performance.

doesn't bode well for the season, that we have a thin squad that were knackered at the end of a 2 week break and obviously will continue to be knackered, no real re enforcements, all negativity around the club and its fans

Well, I hope this team find their form quick. I don't feel like putting myself through unnecessary misery right now.

feck off Martin Atkinson. That penalty farce was absolutely ridiculous; our first half shout was more of a penalty then Palace's ever was, and then that retake took it into comedy territory. He might as well have simply awarded them the goal and spare us this nonsense.

Having said that, we deserved feck all from this game. We were thoroughly outplayed in every imaginable way - it was a seriously depressing performance. The focus will be on the lack of signings but it really shouldn't be: there is no way our existing squad should ever play this badly against a team as limited as Crystal Palace. For this, the coaching team MUST take some responsibility because what we saw today didn't really seem fixable by a couple of signings. It looked like we needed 11 new players.

I allowed myself to be a bit more optimistic after the post-lockdown (and post-Bruno transfer) results, thinking that we can finally get towards that 75-80 points mark again. But right now it feels a bit like 2015: Van Gaal's great spring run, beating Spurs, Liverpool, and City with convincing football was nothing but a false dawn.

No urgency from anyone bar Fernandes and van de Beek for the short while he was on. Very poor game.
To be fair we've only played one friendly and this was their third competitive game. And due to various stupid decisions by our players they haven't all been able to train together for very long. So things will get better, but that performance was shocking. Where's the desire? You can have bad days but surely you'll still work your socks off?
