Lots to choose from, but for me it would be re-signing Mark Hughes. What an incredible footballer he was, a brilliant target man and hard as nails. Had it all really.

just been watching some classic matches from1990-91 and reminiscing. What a collection of players that was right through the spine Schmeichel - Pallister - Robson - Hughes

Depay. Would still like him here. Thought he was going to be a real star.

Rooney was the first one I can think of, after Euro 2004 I remember walking home after school to watch his debut.

Other than that I was too young to really get too excited. I didn't sit following transfer news before then.

The first real transfers I can remember were RVN and I remember united ducking out of a transfer when he got injured.

RVP! He was unbelievable for Arsenal the season before he joined us and I was hoping he'd have a season even half as good for us. The rest is history.

I had huge expectations for Angel Di Maria after his incredible season with Real. It was so disappointing watching him fail so hard.

By far the most exciting was Ronaldinho. The deal was done, set in stone. He was a United player for all intents and purposes. And then he just wasn't :(

Van Persie. He didn’t disappoint when he started playing either.

Andy Cole. It came out of the blue and I couldn’t wait for him to play. It seemed an age before he got his first goal.

Ruud. He was actually going to be the proper striker and finisher that we didn't have in the late 90s. Basically the Shearer we never had

Veron. But here's a bit of backstory. When I was young the Serie A were loaded which means what their clubs wanted they usually got it. The situation was so silly that we couldn't even match Batistuta's salary at Fiorentino. It's like not able to match the salary of a player at Villareal

When Moratti bought Inter and he promised to bring all Manchester United's squad to play in Italy. He signed Ince, he nearly signed Cantona and he went for both Scholes and Giggs. Needless to say I was scared shit of us losing key players that we couldn't afford losing

Veron's signing was a statement signing. He was a top player who was also one of the biggest names in Italy. I remember going on an early date with my missus only to cut it short so I could spend that night on the Internet reading about it. I doubt that we ever had so many stars in midfield as that year.

Falcao, he was one of my favourite non United players at the time, I thought we were getting the prolific monster banging them in for Atleti, who tore Chelsea apart and won Europa Leagues for fun. I still think that in his peak, without his injury problems he would’ve smashed it here.

Great chant too:drool:

Veron.

Considering the squad hadn't really been improved upon greatly from the treble side, Veron's inclusion was the much needed freshness from a side that was starting to get alittle too jaded and familiar in their set-up for European football.
Though at the time I was probably more in favour for United to make a strong move for Van Bommel.

Veron. Our first obviously World class signing from a major foreign league. It'd be like signing Kimmich or De Jong or some such now.

Andy Cole, I remember being in awe of his goal-scoring record. And the transfer was sudden and surreal - Kevin Keegan trying to pacify Newcastle fans on the steps outside St James’ Park.

RvP. Was probably the first time in ages / ever that we signed the best player in the league.

Back in the day, Veron's signing excited me.

in recent memory, RVP, and he didn't disappoint.

then Angel Di Maria also excited me, but it ended badly and i've been hating him since then.

The double signing of Nani and Anderson made me pretty excited at the time. Nani had been heavily linked anyway but Anderson was at the time, the Porto teenager who looked remarkable in one Champions League game and wasn‘t really on the radar but even if he was, he was seen as someone who would have been snapped up a Spanish team or Italian team.

So getting both of those kids at the time felt like a statement of sorts.

Oh actually got really excited by signing Mata as well. Didn’t really work out well that one.

Cristiano Ronaldo to be honest. First time I saw him was in that friendly with Sporting. You could see he was leagues above any footballer on the planet. He played like Figo at 2x speed.

Gordon Strachan, he had been my favourite player at Aberdeen and I loved the fact Utd had bought him.

Forlan. His highlight video they showed on sky on somewhere like that, was well before YouTube highlight reels with awful music and all that stuff.

It made him look like he was going to be awesome.

He wasn't.

Since then I don't ever get worked up over any potential signings or YouTube videos of linked players.

van Nistelrooy & latterly Pogba.

I remember watching the training injury video for RvN when we were initially going to sign him & being gutted, so when he did sign & met expectations it was euphoric.

Pogba was weird cause of all the Social Media stuff, I remember the Stormzy video release excitement.

For the unknow factor it's Memphis for me

I honesty thought we'd bought the next big player. He was highly regarded and a fecking god on FM and FIFA  all whilst representing Holland at the world cup as a teenager

In terms of a 'Oh my god' signing that's RvP!

Surprised at no mention of Dwight Yorke. He’d be right up there for me.

The January 2006 signings of Vidic and Evra. United like they are now was in transition and the team needed a solid defensive backline in order to reach its potential.

Both of course didn't get off to the best of starts but once they settled in they became club greats and hugely important members in a very successful period.

Rooney and then Saha, although that may have had more to do with my age at the time.
Nani, Anderson and Tevez were exciting too.

Was very excited when Rooney, Van Persie and Verón signed.

Also when Falcao signed, thought he'd score loads for us. Shame it didn't work out
