Wouldn't the club saying he misheard it to try and avoid him getting a ban be worse than backing what he has already said. Better to stick with your story than to back down and look like you jumped the gun with an incorrect accusation

Yeah, they should print some T-shirts and they can all wear them in the warm up before the next game.

What was this Ole was on about with Maguire and "the website"?

EDIT: It was a match preview on Chelsea's website.

Hmm. Not really sure how Ole has much of a problem with that. I mean, it is a bit "cheeky" as he says, but has the referee really read that before the game?
In isolation yes, but it's part of a concerted effort to push this pretence that we're getting preferential treatment from the authorities. Klopp, Jose and Lampard have all mentioned it, we're getting adverts joking about the pens we get, we've got pillocks like Sourness using it as a defense for us not getting clear decisions go our way. When you add all this together, it's understandable for Ole to be frustrated by it.

That's fair enough. 7 times out of 10 that will be a penalty and 3 times out of 10 it won't be given. We've had some of those decisions go our way this season.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Souness and Tuchel all said on Sky afterwards that they didn't think it was a peno, obviously they are all gonna say that. Roy Keane and Ole said it was. I think if it was a super clear cut stonewall peno, then the likes of Souness and Hasselbaink may have reluctantly agreed with Keano.
Alan Shearer & Danny Murphey, both idiots who hate United, said on MotD that they don't think it should be a penalty, but, under the current rules it definitely was a penalty. They criticised the rules and their interpretation, but did not deny it was a penalty.

We don't take it to the top teams though. We sit back and play not to lose
Not like we used to we don’t. We play, or try to play, the same style as in other games. We’re not setting up 100% for a countering mentality, like we did in the beginning under Ole.

Ref bottled the decision, and we bottled the game as a team. We didn't deserve to score a goal, because we were awful like we've been many times this season. Move on, far more blatant decision have gone against us.

This stuff about Shaw mishearing the ref sounds like a lot of shite. Seems like the club just don’t want the hassle all of this could bring so have just said he misheard him to nip it in the bud now and avoid it being looked into.

Best thing now is when they do interviews with Sky and BT, radio outlets is one word answers or I cannot comment on that or be seriously annoying and answer a question with another question. Then give the full interviews to MUTV.

Liverpool didn’t deserve to win loads of games last season. Just because we didn’t play well doesn’t mean there isn’t reason to be pissed off about not getting points we should due to poor refereeing. They can make a massive difference, competitively and financially.

Don't compare our miserable bottom level to anything Liverpool put up last season, this team is far from that level. You make your own luck most of the time. Liverpool for all their luck were still creating chances and playing some proper football, we still manage to look like a pub team at times.

I think the point still stands though. I’m not saying we’d be winning the title like them. Just that we should have those points and they can make a massive difference. They won many games they didn’t deserve to win

What Shaw heard or misheard is irrelevant, it is poor form to quote this to the media after a game like a little child. Keep it professional, let the cameras and microphones catch any wrongdoing when there are no people in the stands or at least keep it subtle. Shaw is probably not going to have a great standing with referees in England for a long time.. well played.
So you think the refs will treat shaw differently moving forward? Surely they should keep it professional and With cameras and microphones surely that will be picked up on if they aren’t

Sounds like damage control from United, or maybe Shaw did mishear, who knows.

The thing is, the ref not giving it 'cos he doesn't want to cause a comotion actually makes just as much sense as him not giving it due to not understanding the rules of football.

Be interesting what the other ref's say later today. Clattenburg reckons it's a mystery it wasn't given... imagine Dermot Gallagher will think the same.

I really think it wouldn't make a massive difference because we've dropped so many points, not because of refs but because of our inability to either defend when it mattered or attack properly like yesterday. And imo the rule is also very stupid, so refs interpret it differently like the idiot from yesterday. The ref also made couple of other stupid decision but I feel we have only ourselves to blame.

The kind of football that wins you titles instead of fighting for top 4 and scoring one single goal against the top 6.
What is this proper football that wins you titles though? Just sounds made up to me.

they also won ONE title with it. Not titles

We've also had advantageous decisions go our way (though not recently it seems)... the WBA overturned penalty at OT (I didn't think it was a pen, but after the ref gave it, it was certainly a surprise it got overturned) and Chelsea not getting a penalty are two that spring immediately to mind. Bruno arguably could have been sent off against Arsenal too.

Though none of those (bar maybe the Chelsea non-pen?) were as clear cut as yesterday.

I agree but interviewers are pinning down players immediately after the game while emotions are running high. Sonja McLaughlan from the BBC got aload of abuse for asking about the ref post match in the rugby.Perfectly reasonable but the Welsh players didn't want to be drawn into it.

Players should just all say they will speak after they have had a shower.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Hasselbank said it was a penalty. Because it was a stonewall penalty. Souness barely knows what fecking day it is and Tuchel said it wasn’t a penalty because it hit Greenwood’s hand when it didn’t.

Funny how Tuchel said he saw it fromthe touchline and his Ipad and saw it clear as day that it never hit CHO's hand but Greenwood's! Amazing eyesight and Ipad

It's something Klopp and Pep keep it hidden in their pockets, so when Zlatan 7 from Redcafe tunes his TV to watch Liverpool or City play can't see it.
Oh right. So you see Liverpool play ‘proper’ football and win ‘Titles’ but see United play ‘pub football’?

what horse shit

They trap players/managers into saying things that could land them into trouble. No harm making these knobheads wait around for a while.
Absolutely, they thrive off of controversy yet players and managers constantly pay the price for stuff said in the heat of the moment. I would just tell all the players retreat to the changing room, reflect and calm down, then speak once we are ready. Feck them.

That's exactly what I would do. Fans should also stop giving the media oxygen. Stop clicking on their nonsense. We have the most competitive league, but that's not enough, the media needs to sensationalise with their unprofessional arses.

I don't believe Luke misheard. Just shows you the corruption behind the scenes. A fair organisation, would want to investigate if their employee (ref) has said this. I'm sure there is a recording of what the ref said throughout the game. Instead, they want to do nothing.

Understand where the club is coming from, though I disagree with the cowardice.

Agree with you. I think Luke knows exactly what he heard. Why should United have to retract it?

It's all about money.

SKY/BT pays the big bucks for these games. In exchange, they want to be able to do whatever they want. Affect decisions on the pitch; abuse their privileges; just to push whatever shit narrative they want. It's open season on United since Sir Alex stepped down.

The right thing would be for all clubs to get together and demand that referees are held accountable, but sadly, that won't happen as everyone is protecting their interests...

Plus we have corporate folks in charge of us, we can't expect them to show any bravery or take a stand.

Like I said, start by stop giving them oxygen. Don't engage and don't click on their shit stories.

If Shaw gets a ban for this it will be insane, we should really put our foot down in the future.

Sky egged him on into giving his opinion, and yet again speaking the truth gets you in trouble. What a joke.

So we get screwed out of a clear penalty, then our best player could face a 3 match ban :houllier: I hope United make them listen to the tape and prove he didn't say it.
