Take a look at the whole league though. Who is actually playing really well, above expectations? West Ham?
I wouldn't even say City are. Great winning run but its a bit like our away record, how much of it is down to circumstances.
I've watched City quite a bit, they're not great, they just keep the ball well and rotate to keep players fresh. Which is enough right now.
I'm rarely impreseed when I watch Everton, as mentioned same with Leicester.
The whole league looks average this year, same with Champions League.
So I find it hard to compartmentalise all that and still expect us to produce entertaining, winning football.
Of course I like Ole so this could be excuse making.
I don't think a lot has changed in the league tbh. How many seasons have we had a top 4 where there were few points separating 1st from 4th? Very few I would think. I've already mentioned our main rivals and the reasons I think they're not doing as well as they should.
City as you mentioned haven't been (as) entertaining this season but maybe it's more to do with the pragmatism of Pep than anything else. They had a horrible start (yes, due to little preseason) and he's had to change his style of play. They aren't as gung-ho as in other seasons but it's obviously working so he's not going to change now.
Teams like Everton and Leicester are what they are. Decent first 11 with decent managers but bar a freak season (Leicester) they're never going to set the PL on fire and suddenly become entertaining on a consistent basis.
Moyes is doing well but what he is doing is taking advantage of poor results from teams expected to finish above him. The only teams that I've seen a drop off are SU and maybe wolves but it was unrealistic to expect them to be in the top 6 of the PL.
On your bolded sentence. Maybe after 2 1/2 years we should be expected to see some marked improvement in how we play football. Yes we've had some great results/performances which are rightly praised for but on the whole our performances have been underwhelming in large parts of the season even if results have went our way. Contrary to belief most people who don't think Ole is the one to take us forward don't moan about individual games but take Oles tenure as a whole, while others take results like PSG, Leipzig or City and use it in their defence for the manager which is fair enough. The difference between Ole in/out I think is some choose to look at results while others choose to look at performances and the 2 aren't mutually inclusive.
Erm no.
Unlike the modern internet fan, I don’t care about percentages, about xG or what @utdloser on Twitter thinks
I’m enjoying watching the team play again, very supportive of the manager and looking forward to getting back to watch the team
Fair enough. Each to their own. I was just making a general statement that people think that Ole isn't the one are kneejerk supporters because the forum is in uproar after a draw/loss and sometimes even after a win when in reality what they are doing is taking the season (s) as a whole and looking at performances and not results. When studied over a (long?) period of time kneejerk shouldn't come into the conversation when criticising the manager/players.
