'I like Marina. I met Moranira on Anneka Rice's Celebrities in a Lighthouse. Back when I was at the Stockport Gazette. Me and Mourinho Hyde were like this - my fingers are sort of crossed, for those who can't see me - but I haven't heard from Mariner since 1973. Poor show, Meringue - even my mate Andy's disappointed in you. And my old friend Jack Charlton is too.'

early days of sky he sat next to Andy Gray as the presenter, like a timid little hairy handed twat, now he seems to think he has to be an opinionated, controversial twat to stay relevant. What's next Pier Morgan to get his own football show. Hate this kind of journalism/reporting. I'm all for people having an opinion and giving it, but it just seems he's looking for trouble

Tbf Rodgers is a good manager. Don't think he's Barcelona's saviour mind.

Better than Valverde? Nah,

Valverde was ridiculed at times, but he still managed to win league titles.
Brendan is so underrated on this forum. He nearly led an average Liverpool team to the title, had them playing pretty great football. His Celtic team were class and you can see the struggles Celtic have had since leaving, culminating in trailing Rangers by 15 points currently. He then came to Leicester and they were one game away from top four and now sit 2nd. He’s a really good coach.

None of that screams solution to Barcelona needing to replace a generation of all stars on massive wages with serious financial issues while still winning trophies and competing for the champions league though. Especially as I don't think he speaks Spanish

Agreed. He unfortunately is a bit of a meme and that works against him but anyone doubting his credentials and skills at this point are kidding themselves.

He speaks fluent Spanish and French.

I’m not necessarily arguing he is the solution, primarily because of the language barrier but he’s a better coach than they’ve had in recent times IMO.

I can never make up my mind with him to be honest. Leicester's injury problems were huge last season but he escaped a lot of criticism, I think anyway, for even allowing us and Chelsea to get near his side in the top 4 race. The collapse after Christmas was shocking. He seems to be one of those managers that can get you near to something big but it just doesn't happen. That's not to say he's bad by any means.

I praised him many times on this forum. But he’s not the man to lead Barcelona though.

Not fluent, he says he studied Spanish for 6 years and has a good grasp.

He's also studied a bit of French and Italian but maybe only has a basic to intermediate level.
Not as good as Moyes and McClaren at languages

Whenever this thread crops up I read his article in the opening post to myself in my head, except in the voice of Abraham Simpson, and it makes me laugh.

I fail to see what is so funny about Rodgers managing Barcelona. Look at some of the managers they've had after Guardiola, he'd hardly look out of place.

He done the exact same thing for the son incident then said the game is gone.

He just hates "soft" play / diving in general but especially United
