Anyone in doubt just needs to see how the wheels came off Ole's bus when he got injured. By far Utd's best defender and England's too.

Mass overreaction as usual from him playing well against the likes of Braithwaite and Poulson.

Good defender but no where near the level of Van Dijk.

Plenty of us have been praising his performances for a lot longer then a few tournament games.

I think he has been the player of the tournament. Really raised Englands level since playing.

Him and Spinazzola really standout players, but since one is injured Maguire if England wins the final would be my pick for player of the tournament.

Not really challenged that much tonight if we are being honest.

Seems unable to challenge for an attacking header without leading with his elbows.

When he got booked vs Denmark, I saw the ref pull out a red card and thought it was curtains. Harry was a bit emotional for 10 minutes and he looked like getting a red to me. So happy he managed to forget that and have a great game.

Liking him more and more. He also looks a lot more comfortable with Stones than he does with Lindelof.

If we get Varane I think it could lift his performances with United to another level.

Has he improved his attacking headers? I don't remember him such a threat from set pieces for united.

He is having a great Euro so far, in fact I’d put him in my team of tournament.

This "nowhere near" expression that I see so often on this forum, is terribly misused.

I thought he’d miss the final due to it - it wasn’t mentioned anywhere, so I assume now that all the yellow cards were wiped this game?

One of the best defenders in the world. Another brilliant performance for the captain.

And your point is? No one said he’s better, but that said Jones has been just as effective this year as Van Dijk.

Brilliant performance last night, so steady and composed.
Is easily the best English defender and I would go so far to say has been the best defender at the tournament so far.

No one in history is near the level of VDD, Maldini was shit by comparison.:…you could build a brick wall in front of the goal with turrets and cannons and it wouldn’t defend as well as VVD blah blah blah fecking blah

Magical Manchester United.
If he'd have been fit for the Europa League final, our name would be on the trophy. Fantastic player, I have to say I was mildly pessimistic when he joined, but a Top 10 CB in the world for me. So consistent and almost always available...

In days of yore I don't think he'd have been regarded as world class, but in this era easily world class.

I remember Gary neville saying someone like after kane he is the most important player for England to be fit and playing.

Turns out he was correct.

The more I watch of him in Euros, the more confident I grow in his abilities. Rice and Phillips may not be among the most elite midfielders out there but they allow Maguire to do more progressive passes into midfield as opposed to passing to the left hand side of the pitch all the time like he does for Manchester United. He looks far more comfortable on the ball and with his passing out the back. Fred and Mctominay are quite good at certain aspects of the game especially breaking down play but they are often times lacking in receiving passes out from defence in tight spaces which, I feel, quite limits Maguire's range. There have been at least two occasions when Maguire has passed to Fred only for Fred to lose the ball and for us to concede a goal.

I always thought Stones was a superior passer (without having watched him much rather just going by online opinion) of the ball but at least in this particular tournament, Maguire has been doing most of the carrying of the ball and more progressive passes. As far as defending goes, there are not many players better at getting their head on the ball than our captain slabhead and he does quite well in positioning and tackling departments.

Most people realise he’s been very good well before last night and this tournament.

Class player.

He has been in Maldini mode this tournament and as it has been said he has been very good the whole year yet he's always 1st on the line for criticism here, some of it is well over the top sometimes..

And where was his heading and threat on opposing goal the whole year? He has been brilliant in that too.

Who even remember that Slabdini returned from a long injury recently ? He's been one of England's best players till now.

Just one thing : am I the only person who doesn't understands why he's not hitting the target with his headers in a united shirt ?

I thought about that - I’d say it’s due to the players. I assume they players are more worried about Kane on set pieces - and also Stones is also really good - whereas United have Cavani when he plays, who darts to the front post, or Lindelof, who they’d probably ignore

Well yeah, why would they care about him? Like seriously. He's about as useful as a corpse at both offensive and defensive dead balls. I may have stolen that quote fram Strachan.

I’d been pretty impressed with him in the tournament up until last night. He’s just terrible positionally, really doesn’t read the game well. Everything straight at him no bother he’s going to deal with it, ask him to make a choice to stick or go and more often than not he picks the wrong option getting himself and team in to trouble.

Brilliant defender who is quite rightly getting his due.

He needs to do a few more of those attacking headers in a United shirt, mind.

Just wait until he makes another mistake, the vultures will be back in full force. Funnily they have no problem licking Dias/Laporte's arse or when another CB makes a mistake.
