Cristiano Ronaldo said:

“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday. I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I'm looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

Still feels so surreal to see him back. Even if he flops which is a possibility as I don't recall many ex-legends returning to their old club and succeed, I guess many fans are just so happy to see him come back where he played such a huge part in the club's most successful history.

Apart from the lucky 75,000 who have tickets to the game, it is going to be so annoying not having this on Sky, BT, Amazon or anything else live in the UK.
I will have to search for a river…

Ronnie has still an Elite Mentality, Is a leader, goal scorer.

Ronaldo will drive United deep in the European cup and League.

I have an offer for a ticket but I also have a gig I have tickets for up in Newcastle at 7pm that I've been waiting 2yrs for - I'm so very very conflicted right now!

Do we not think Leeds will be paying the James fee over instalments. Bit of a silly piece of logic
Exactly. And feck knows what instalments we are paying from previous deals during this window.

Do people not think these things through before posting them?

Still feels so surreal that he’s back. This time last week, the small whispers of him going to City began to start.

Buzzing to see his first interview and to hear what he has to say about returning.

I'm not gonna win this 1 so i'm not gonna bother arguing, but this is a terrible idea based on nostalgia and name value. Committing to making a 36-year-old our highest-earning player and paying him that wage past his 38th birthday is never going to end well. That money could have been spending so much better in other areas of the team instead of in a position we were pretty well set this season. It was also likely to impact Greenwoods development as a striker as he basically won't get any time in the position now with Ronaldo and Cavani. Plus this is not the Ronaldo of yesteryear, yes he will still score, but his game when a team is out of possession is basically none exsistent and the other 10 players are going to have to compensate which is going to cause problems through the team.

Of course I will get shouted down and told to shut up as fans only care about the big shinney name, but this is an awful signing.

Ronaldo will bring in far more money to the club than his wages going out, so you can't say the money would have been better spent elsewhere. We'll be up financially thanks to the Ronaldo signing.

I have a sneaky suspicion that he’ll get the number 7 shirt as we have mutually agreed with Cavani that he can leave

Watch the game, leave at 5 and get to your Gig for about 8 or 9pm. For a laugh and if you feel brave travel with the Geordies back up to Newcastle

Failing all that, you can offer OT ticket to me :wenger:

Once again, this signing is not your ordinary signing. Comparing the cost of this transfer with, let's say Neves, would be like comparing apples and oranges. I'm pretty sure the clubs thinks this transfer will pay for itself without even having to think about the improvements sporting wise. Just look at the announcement - biggest announcement ever by a sporting team on Twitter and Instagram. Official account increased followers by millions in a few days.

Also Greenwood have just started to hold the RW position down as his own, he is not yet ready to be our main striker. Learning from Ronaldo can only be positive in that case. As for Cavani, well his situation seem pretty unclear at the moment. He might end up leaving before his contract is up, he might miss plenty of games due to travel restrictions etc.

If they by any chance move the game to 12:30 for BT then I'll be doing the full trip! Middlesbrough -> Manchester -> Newcastle!

That yet to be proved, lots of clubs have tried it and struggled, Juve being 1 of them which is why they are so happy to get him off the wage bill, everyone always things like shirt sales, which the club only get a tiny percentage off, Ronaldo also gets most of his own sponsorships. Is Ronaldo going to bring in a minimum extra £375,000 (which is the minimum amount I've seen his wages quoted at) into the club, we will have to see. Not to mention every time you increase your top earner it increases every other player you negotiate with wage demand. Plus you think sponsors are going to still be flocking to him as much at 37? at 38? probably to some level but nothing compared to when he was in his prime.

Will he need to have the 7 shirt as part of his personal brand is of course CR7, could he insist on it as part of his contract? I know he's so well known now he doesn't need the current shirt number to reflect it but just looks at his past numbers and he's always had it bar once at Real Madrid

Really going to have to look at getting tickets to a game as never got to a game during his first time with us, where do we think he will be used the most? Surely he won't be wheeled out for early FA cup games/ league Cup?

I know there's been a lot of positives said about Cavani with the young players, let's hope they get to work with Ronnie and learn from him in the same way

If he could instill some of his winning mentality into all of them that would be great!
