We've had Best. We've had Giggs. We've had Sharpe, Coppell, Kanchelskis and Nani etc but our current crop might just be the finest ever.

Rashford - 23

Martial - 25

Sancho - 21

Greenwood - 19

Amad - 19

Elanga - 19

All this after having sold the great Daniel James. Look at that average age. Money fecking Mase is 19! We have fingers crossed a decade plus of his brilliance ahead of us. Same for potentially everyone on that list. Bit unfair to put the latter two in there considering their limited appearances but I'd put that top 4 against any other team in the worlds top 4 wingers/wide players. This is without including the likes of Mata and Lingard who would start for a lot of premiership teams.

Meh.
Is Rashford a winger or a center forward ?
Martial blows hot and cold.
Sancho hasn’t done it yet .
Greenwood I think is a striker.
Amad is unproven but has potential .
Elanga unproven.

Go on, tell us, seeing as you have clearly added this to create some sort of ‘list effect’.

In your own observation, is Rashford a centre forward or a wide forward? If, of course, the answer is wide forward, then he is a perfectly valid entrance on the original list. But of course, your answer may be centre forward.

Mata wouldn’t start for any premier league team.

Top 4 is pretty good Rashford probably the best winger of the lot.

Greenwood's the only one I love as a player without any question marks. Rashford needs to show that's he's got the effort and intensity back in his game, then he can join Greenwood.

The rest are all maybes. I wasn't that high on Sancho at Dortmund after watching more of their games last season, and he's shown nothing to change my mind so far. Amad is a huge talent who I think will be brilliant if he gets developed in the right way...but he's all potential right now, and it's sort of hard to see his pathway to the first team. Ditto Elanga.

Martial I barely even consider. Certainly not as a wide player.

So yeah, I'd prob take the 2007 collection (Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani, Park) or 1999 teams (Peak Beckham and Giggs, Blomqvist + random fill-ins)

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Nah, he’s done his job, moaned about something. Now he’s off to another thread to spread the joy.

Could be, pretty great line up. Though Sharpe, Kanchelskis and Giggs circa 1993 were incredible.

In 1999 we had Giggs, Beckham, Cruyff, Blomqvist.

In 2008 we had Ronaldo, Nani, Saha, Tevez, Rooney.

The current lot look good but they've so far proven nothing.

Fans can never be happy. I wonder why is it suffering to support this club?

People act like trophies is something he can show in their CV, some achievement they can be proud about when going on the streets. Chill the feck out.

Meh here and there, fecking mental.

Good shout. I wouldn't have Saha in there cause he mainly played CF but that top four of Ronaldo, Nani, Tevez and Rooney is certainly better if about 5 years older on average.

We will see where the current lot are in 5 years. Rashford we know is good, Martial we know is ok but not great, Sancho has to settle in and Greenwood looks like becoming a top player, and Amad and Elanga could easily disappear in the next few years. Really you are looking at only Rashford as a known top player right now.

yeah i think 2008 is by far our most stacked line up, in that all 4 (excluding Saha) could tear a defence apart.

Cruyff and Blomqvist were perfectly fine deputies in '99 but they weren't anywhere near the level of Giggs / Beckham. They obviously suffered a lack fo playing time to really distinguish themselves due to the rigid 4-4-2 and Giggs & Beckham being pretty much ever present and undroppable.

I think this season's line up could well challenge the 2008 group if they reach their full potential but just thinking about how good Ronaldo and Rooney were at that time it shard to think they could be surpassed.

Start of 2007-08 season
Ronaldo - 22
Nani -21
Rooney - 22
Tevez - 23

Start of 2021-22 season
Rashford - 23
Greenwood - 19
Martial - 25
Sancho - 21

Looks like this batch is older (or maybe equal) than 2007-08 team.

I'd say Greenwood is already a top player. Martial and Nani are comparable , one has better forward attributes while the other has better winger attributes. Sancho is an x factor and i have high hopes for both Amad and Elanga. But like you say lets see in five years. I predict this will be our best crop ever.

good call, I was mistaken about the age. Damn we're getting old. The 07-08 unit led us to 3 titles in a row(could have been 5) and 3 champions league finals so lets hope this current batch can do something similar.

Yet none of them can can get themselves to be starters at International level except Amad. Rashford is like 5th choice these days. I still think we have a great set of Wingers/Wide forwards. Point being they need to start proving it week in week out, year in year out. The best are the ones that are both talented AND consistent.

List effect?
Am not sure what you mean. I simply disagree with the premise that we have the best set of wingers ever. I don’t know what Rashford's best position is, probably on the left of a front 3.
We are a long way short of Kanchelskis & Giggs.

the fact that you don't mention David Beckham brings your judgement under great scrutiny, if you ask me. Or Gordon Hill, for than matter

Beckham was never really a winger or a wide forward though. He was a right sided midfielder. Gordon Hill isn't even the best winger named Gordon to play for us, that would be Gordon Strachan. ;)

Agreed. Talent wise this might be the best but that means nothing without consistent performances which we have been getting from Greenwood to be fair.

Rashford ----- Greenwood ----- Sancho

Those three has the potential to be immense if we evolve into a more all round attacking team

Id say potentially we do, the skill is all there, if they can take the next step and win things then it may well be the best set.

The current lot have still got everything to prove. At the moment I'd still have peak Nani over any of them.
