It wasn't a disastrous half of football, but as a continuation of this season, it was worrisome.
United had a lot of time on the ball and a ton of shots, but very very few proper scoring chances. Once again it looks like there isn't any kind of working system, or even the beginnings of one. Just "give it to Ronaldo / Bruno / Pogba and hope they do a worldie", which TBF isn't an unrealistic expectation but also not something that wins trophies. Villa also helped put a shine on the situation by missing two complete sitters (which West Ham also did last weekend) thus ensuring we went to the half time at 0-0 instead of 0-2 or 1-2.
Maguire continues to have these bizarre moments in defence where he makes completely amateurish errors out of the blue, which isn't something you want from one of the team's veteran leaders. Nobody is perfect, so I don't expect perfection, but he really does need to do better.
And of course Shaw also went off injured so not the afternoon of football you'd want to see :-/
