Maybe not, stats wise. But watching the game, we did create many opportunities.
always wonder how these stats are measured. how is greenwoods chance or pogbas header not a top chance? think it was an open game until now and if we play on like that and are more concentrated in defense we will win it

On target.. that so misleading though. The Maguire mistake was a sitter, the cross they missed, just cause he sent the ball over the goal posts infont of an empty goal makes it an of target shot even though it was also a sitter.
Maybe I over-egged it there with the on target business alright but I don't think we deserved to be behind or are lucky not to be on the balance of play.

Its starting to piss me off this, Ings was down for a bit, the goal keeper was fecking about and they were kicking the ball away.

    Irritating
Should use the stop clock system. Would stop play acting. Refs just make up time added on.

There are some incredibly toxic people on redcafe lately, it's just astonishing.
City and Chelsea are doing feck all, 0 shots on target for the first half. Yet there are some posters here wanking over their "amazing setup" and "looking well organized".

We have 15 shots vs 4 for Villa (3 of them coming from individual mistake, not because Villa's coach outsmarted Ole), we've had much more possession and yet the same people claim that "Villa is dominating us".

I mean, c'mon. We should easily be 2-0 up already. We are winning this in 2nd half, and comfortably.

Fred needs to be replaced by VDB and Sancho needs to come on surely.
I love how the “we should be 2-0 up” lot just completely ignore the fact that Villa have had the best 2 chances of the game.

We’re playing shit mate. You can still be a fan & admit we’re playing shit.

Sancho on, I agree. I’d probably bring Fred off & move Pogba into midfield.

I love this new AWB that throws the hesi in now and then with them iso moves to beat the press but it does feel like Russian roulette I have to admit

Game has been entertaining tbh. I would like McTominay to get involved in this game. I think he's been largely invisible. We have had a lot of shots, but probably only had one good chance to score. The one Pogba headed wide. Probably the Mason one as well. He should have passed to Bruno. I still think we will win this. If Villa gives us a bit of space, we'll get something on the counter.

We have been allright for 15 mins, shit for 25 in between and then good again in the last 8. Should have had at least a goal.

It's been a good game so far. Villa playing well and so are we. Could go either way but I fancy us with out firepower off the bench. Great saturday afternoon :D

We got into a lot of good positions that should have led to a goal or a big chance but we kept fecking it up with poor decision making.

Villa's big chances both came from defensive feck ups.
poor decision making has been a trait for a while - you'd think Ole would be able to help them here because he seemed pretty good at that; or was it that he also choice to shoot and always scored

Are you suggesting he's faking an injury to get taken off?
Nope not at all, he has a knock that much is obvious, I just don't think it will be a bad one and I'm suggesting he is probably happy to go off after his display.

Pogba for Cavani. Let Cavani bother the defence and shift Ronaldo into Pogba's drifting role where he can search for open space. I want to see our two elite strikers play together.

You don't have to be incessantly negative - repeating a point over and over doesn't make it any stronger over making you stand out for the wrong reasons.

At least balance it out; there are reasons to be positive, even if things aren't playing out as we hope.
Fair enough. The big positive is De Gea seems to have found top form again.

God your boringly negative mate, to stand out as negative on this forum is quite the achievement though if that’s what your going for.

I think he's been working on it, he tried it last season but wasn't successful a lot of the times. Now I think he has more confidence, and maybe with Varane behind him he's being more fearless in attack.

Was nice to see us kick in gear early, I think we played well, some mistakes as always but not bad at all.
Glad to hear it, cheers for that. The stats certainly seem to say we’re just lacking the finish.

Aston Villa is a much better team with a much better coaching staff and players. If we'd hire Conte we'd never play badly. I say we fire everyone, and sell Jones and Mata immediately.

We should hire Potter, he's a much better manager than most in the big clubs at the moment. Huge chance missed.
He's done an unbelievable job with Brighton, no doubt. Big question is how he could handle the big egos at a top club, but I imagine he'll get an opportunity if he keeps going the way he is.

It wasn't a disastrous half of football, but as a continuation of this season, it was worrisome.

United had a lot of time on the ball and a ton of shots, but very very few proper scoring chances. Once again it looks like there isn't any kind of working system, or even the beginnings of one. Just "give it to Ronaldo / Bruno / Pogba and hope they do a worldie", which TBF isn't an unrealistic expectation but also not something that wins trophies. Villa also helped put a shine on the situation by missing two complete sitters (which West Ham also did last weekend) thus ensuring we went to the half time at 0-0 instead of 0-2 or 1-2.

Maguire continues to have these bizarre moments in defence where he makes completely amateurish errors out of the blue, which isn't something you want from one of the team's veteran leaders. Nobody is perfect, so I don't expect perfection, but he really does need to do better.

And of course Shaw also went off injured so not the afternoon of football you'd want to see :-/

They do. I think it looks incredibly amateurish, though I’m not really sure why.
I think you've got to look at it as a refresh of memory pal, you're looking far too much into it. Before any test in your life have you again looked over already the stuff you have learned for piece of mind? I'm sure I'd like a reminder which player I'm covering at set pieces ect.

What? AWB has been very good so far alongside Varane.
Maguire almost gifted them a goal but you say he’s been good?
How the hell has AWB been average :houllier:
How's awb been average, the only player you could argue has been better is greenwood.
    Maguire good?
I guess I underrated AWB. Maybe should go in the 'good' bracket.
Rated Maguire good because other than that one slight misplaced pass, he has been clearing all the crosses coming in and also almost scored
