Would be awesome if he can bring in players he's worked with like Brozovic (free this summer) and De Vrij (contract expires 2023).

Urgh, after the game yesterday I was trying to recall all the dross Conte bought but the full list of just United ex players is horrendous.
Bringing in players within his budget that fit his system. The horror.

Absolutely do not want Conte at this club.

I actually feel like a few weeks ago, most would have agreed… but now it’s a case of wanting Ole gone so will accept anything. I think he’s a poor fit and it would be a knee jerk decision which is what we should be avoiding right now. Well run clubs don’t act like that.
I’ve got some bad news for you…

Conte will be another LVG/Mourinho expensive waste of time. His tactics and football are also shite.

May as well bring Ashley Young back for LWB and sign Victor Moses for RWB.

Sancho will be buried even deeper under Conte. He'll be the new DVB.

Hopefully true.

I would take him here on a caretaker basis until we get the man we 100% want but I think we’ll be back here again in 2-3 seasons’ time having a massive self-inflicted, toxic implosion if Conte gets the gig full-time. I’d also have huge reservations over the style of play he’d introduce (think Mourinho levels of defensive dullness) and after four defensive-minded managerial appointments since Ferguson left, I honestly haven’t the energy nor desire to sit through more pragmatic shite week-in, week-out.

Let’s be proactive for once and move heaven and earth to get a brilliant, innovative, technical coach who believes in progressive, modern football. There are plenty of interesting options out there: let’s explore them.

FFS why

Why not Zidane :(
Zidane does not want to come here.

His agent has also said in the past:

Alain Migliaccio: "I don't think he will manage in England. It doesn't fit his style. I talked to him. It doesn't really appeal to him," he told Le Journal Du Dimanche in October 2018.
Then you add in he doesn't even speak English, it's clear he's not interested.

We will actually play with some organisation. I'll take it. We have the squad.

He can sign a midfielder in the summer and we're good.

Seriously Conte is just another Mourinho, only difference is Conte hasn't quite reached that 'no longer guarantees success' stage that Mourinho did when we hired him

When would Conte reach that stage? If we hired him that's when

Honestly feck off anyone who wants him, Ole has to go but not so we can bring in Conte. There has to be other/better options
Take him for 2 years until the next Tuchel/Klopp appears? that'll do.

Just because he's short term doesn't mean everthing falls apart. Did Chelsea fall apart? nope.

This is about priorities: Do you build for the future, or are you going to compete for trophies today?

I believe the board and club wants to compete for trophies now. They will look at Chelsea's success last season as a model for how to change manager mid season.

Secondly, our main problem is defending and team philosophy, not individual talent. When Ole arrived, we needed to boost squad talent and boost morale. This time, it's about bringing in a crack coaching team who will have very specific instructions. Defending will be the priority.

Thirdly, the Glazers (and other board members/major shareholders) are looking at the CL places. That's a 70m haircut. Annually. Priority will be to finish in the top 4 and book a place in the CL.

Lastly, you don't go out and buy Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho to hand everything over to an unproven manager (at this level at least). These world class players will want a proven manager.

Look, the Conti contract would be for 3 years, and hopefully he makes it through 2 seasons. Zidane is more of a player whisperer than a manager with a footballing philosophy. He will never be the manager for United -- does he even speak English? He's either waiting for the PSG job or the France job. Maybe Juve.

Given the ramifications of missing out on CL football, the current squad -- which is primed for a title challenge in terms of quality -- I think a combination of availability and core competencies that fit our needs, Conte is probably the choice. Hopefully he can come in with a precondition that we need to buy a DM in the January window.

Weird take.

You'd be unhappy if we won the league signing players like Young or Moses then I take it?

I will support whoever they bring in and despite Conte not being many people's first choice, he may be just what we need now. Jose was too antagonistic and his style started to betray him, Ole is a friend to the players but doesn't have tactics. Conte will be demanding like Jose but his football is still a winning formula.

I feel players will take a disciplinarian if they believe they can win things.

I think most of our squad can fit his style. Perhaps the most worrying casualty could be Sancho who I struggle to see where he would fit. Players likes Shaw, Varane, Dalot, Rashford and dare I say it Fred I can really see flourishing under him.

Did Jose win the league? People keep saying if he wins the league who cares - it’s a big fecking if.
That's not the point. Conte would come to win right now, no rebuild needed. if it doesn't work out so what? We move on.

Our squad is also made for his 343. It covers Maguire's lack of pace, our inability to play out from the back, us having no defensive mid, and gives our wealth of attacking talent up front the platform to shine.

Conte was also the one who turned Pogba into a star at Juve.

Exactly, this falling apart argument I never get. Chelsea, Madrid keep on changing coaches and do well, why can't we do the same. This obsession with having a manager manage here for a long time needs to stop. The club should start giving shorter contracts to the manager , if they don't do well , just sack them. Ole has survived 3 or 4 sackings here and that shouldn't be happening with any club. Conte if he comes should manage us as long as we are doing good. If not, just say bye to him.

He plays with wing backs, which means 2 or 3 attacking stars are going in the bin.

I'd made this when Ronaldo was signed, thinking the 4-2-3-1wouldn't work well

Yes something like that. RWB is a bit of a question mark. Pogba and Cavani will be off at the end of the year, I was thinking Fred and Greenwood in their place.

Not necessarily. But I don't see him and Bruno ever really playing together. Think they'd rotate as Conte swaps between 343 and 352. Ronaldo/Cavani/Rashford/Greenwood rotate between the front 2 or ST and LW. It's what should happen anyway. Balance.

Someone like Ten Hag seems not realistic so based on the options thrown around (Rodgers, Zidane) I start to warm up for Conte. Not sure if we got the right players but I think he might have enough experience to get something out of the players at hand. And he surely would not accept the way some of them are acting on the pitch.

So while not being 100 % happy this might be the best solution for the time being.

Well, if Zidane doesn't want to coach in England and United don't like Conte's personality then they have to keep Ole and then try ten Haag in summer. No other option.

If we want to have any chance of success this year then its a big yes to Conte from me although it has to happen very soon. Not ideal but a huge upgrade on this shambles

No six year contracts just a brief to impose a successful system on this group of players this year with the option of one more year to keep options clear for the next Klopp Pep or Tuchel

Are they scared of winners? If we win the league within 2 years, then after that he leaves so what? We haven't won a tin pot trophy in 4 years.
No they are scared of a repeat of Jose as it says
