The way we play and the way we approach managerial appointments are the same. Waiting for something to happen, rather than going out and making it happen.

Id be surprised if Conte went to Spurs. Hes like Jose, he wants what he wants, and he wants a chequebook to get it. Dealing with purse strings Levy wont be appealing to him at all.

If he does go, it will end in tears.

Support the team and stop putting energy into #oleout

Not taking Conte is a pretty clear indication Ole is here for a while now.

Antonio Conte in negotiations with Spurs.

Whatever people may think of Conte, he is a world class manager. Conte‘s signature would be regarded as a massive coup for Spurs.

So what do we (Utd) do? …if anything. Here’s a few suggestions..….

Wait and see what happens until after the City game?

Contact Conte’s agents for dramatic last minute talks?

Pretend to laugh at Spurs?

Panic?

Sit on our hands and do absolutely nothing?

Other suggestions welcome.
All sources are indicating that the Glazers, after snubbing Conte, are keen on Brendan Rodgers.

There’s no difference between you and the board at all, no wonder we are were we are.
How’s Conte not the right fit? Because he plays 3 at the back? Or you are going with the false repeated narrative that he’s defensively boring.

We need to win now and change the mentality of this team and Conte will do that instantly. We will wait for 10 years for the right manager that “fits” the United way( whatever that is) comes along.
Because he's an abrasive personality that focusses on short term success and then resigns at the first , often under a bad cloud (we've had one already and it ended in disaster) - that isn't a huge issue for a club with a good club structure, DOF, and clear long term direction. We have non of those things. So he'd be back to square one in 2 or 3 years.

We've built a team that is player or two away from being able to boast a

See out the season, unless he does something seriously stupid, then see where we are at the end.
Yep, no way is Ole going anywhere, not until top 4 is mathematically out of reach, or unless 'Liverpool' is repeated a couple more times.
I don't feel any desire from the board to make a change, and I think they only have eyes for Pochettino anyway.

List of preferences of managers "available" now (available I would class as managers who there is some hope would leave current club for United, even if not fully realistic to be instant, or international managers, but those who haven't allegedly also said to be not interested like Zidane):
  1. Roberto Mancini
  2. Luis Enrique
  3. Erik Ten Hag
  4. Graham Potter
  5. Brendan Rodgers
  6. Mauricio Pochettino
Southgate is in the garbage tier with Ole. Pochettino and Rodgers would be an improvement probably, but not much cause for any optimism and would be pretty depressing appointments. Mancini and Luis Enrique the 2 guys with the balance of experience, success and proven to be quality coaches. Ten Hag big potential but huge risk of flopping hard outside a system like Ajax. Potter a good coach but only experience with Brighton, it's a different world at United.

Conte won't accept Spurs until Ole has gotten through City and the CL game.

Let's see that first. If he gets sacked through that then Conte will run to us.

If it doesn't happen then Ole gets the sack at the end of the season then we go for Ten Hag hopefully instead.

Conte would have been a knee jerk appointment for us, it’s clear the club don’t like his style of football. I think it’s the right decision to not go for him. Ole either brings us trophies this season or he’s out, we’ll have better options as the season progresses. Might mean another write off season though unfortunately.
Can you enlighten me please about the style of football our board love please ?

We had 4 managers with sh*t on stick style of football. The only difference is Ole is talking about DNA and attacking football, but doesn’t know how to play it.

When I see that Rodgers or Poch are the options, I am so depressed as their style of football is not winning football and they are badly struggling actually.
Leicester and PSG are playing sh*t so that is probably on line with the board philosophy…

Accept a 4th place finish, a quarterfinal CL exit, and an FA cup final loss.

You’d honestly think Conte was the 2nd coming of Fergie with the tears on here.

Most likely it’ll be a caretaker till summer when Ole eventually gets sacked.

Caretaker manager? What would be the point? We have that now anyway. It was always Conte and no one else in the running. Now we wait till end of season at minimum.

If he goes to spurs it means we turned him down. We just need to hope we’ve got a fecking good reason for doing so, not just ‘hope Ole works out’.
We're talking about the Man Utd hierarchy, right? What do you think is a more believable reason of the two you mentioned.

See how the rest of the season goes (I think the Glazers will see it out unless we have several big defeats/crash out of Europe)...

If we improve/top 4/win something, Ole likely stays...

If we don't win anything/not in top 4, Ole gets replaced by Ten Hag, Potter, Poch, who knows...

Support team in the meantime...
We are going in circles. How many times we have to improve under Ole ? Every season there is a crisis. But there is no progress.

Match going fans should act. We are waiting for far too long, it will be 10 years soon. No standards are required from anyone at the club : board, manager, players, fans. The former 3 are happy to collect the money and the fans are stuck in the past.
No big club would accept that but us.

Maybe we should hire Nuno once Ole is done and we can have the match going fans clap him as well

I think the scene was already set when we won handily at the weekend. Unless there's a radical change of fortunes in the coming week I think Ole is here for the season. Given a free run at four or five managers the Board were never going to go with Conte.

He's not the second coming and I doubt Spurs will win a league title under him. Conte is among the best five or six managers in the world, though, and he's freely available and wants the United job - the tears are largely because United deciding not to take up the option of Conte is a fairly clear indication that Ole will be here until at least the summer, which is not the news that 86.5% of the Caf want to hear.

It is also yet another team with a top manager that we now have to compete with in our own backyard.

We're going to keep Ole and then finish 5th or 6th. Sack Ole in the summer and hire Brenton.

Brenton is then going to get hounded out of the club within a year.

The best available manager. I would take that over what we are served now. Which manager do you think would be available in 6 months' time if we look for a new manager, who'd be a better bet than Conte?

It wouldn't be my preference, but I do think that's where we are heading, now.

Ole until May, Rodgers/Pochettino after that if Ole can't get 4th place.
I am not a big fan of Pochettino at all, Rodgers has some significant weaknesses but would achieve more than Ole.

Nothing. That's how we do things. We think and think about every decision. Besides, the owners gave the players the Spurs game and players responded brilliantly re-enforcing their support for Ole.
In absence of any sort of planning or vision for club, game results are the only way we decide whether someone is fit for the job or not.

This is what you get when you run the club on nepotism and as Fergie fiefdom.

The rot has spread deeper than we think.

We'll hire deluded Rodgers. He'll spend two years talking about the United DNA and tradition which will make the class of 92 cream their pants and we'll win sweet feck all.

I suspect this too, I was listening to a podcast with some journo and he said a season or two ago the three names United were keen on were Tuchel, Nagelsmann and Pochettino.

After Mourinho, I can't really blame them for not going for Conte.
Same here. He’s a nutter. He’s going to fail at Spurs just like Jose. He could have been great here but it was a big risk. I can see why the board don’t want another angry manager.

If the board actually have a plan to go for a more progressive thinking manager in the summer then I can accept that. I just hope they’re prepared for this manager to inform them that the likes of Maguire, De Gea, and AWB are not in his plans and require replacement.
The same Maguire that Pep wanted?

Either Maguire doesn’t belong in that list, or you don’t consider Pep a progressive-thinking manager.

Let him go.

He'll get pissed off with Levy not giving him what he wants and walk in a year anyway.

His combustible behaviour at other clubs is exactly why he should never be let in the door at Utd. Let him have his meltdowns at other clubs.

Of course sods law now dictates that we'll lose the next two games heavily, Ole will be sacked, and we won't be able to find a replacement.
