It doesn't matter who we can get at this point. It's about the principle. No one should keep their job after failing in such a spectecular fashion. Ole is not good enough for the job. So he shouldn't have it. Great job missing out on Conte, though. United management at its best.

To be honest, I would have agreed with you but it's now looking like Ole will drag us into the bottom half and beyond at this rate. This is beyond crisis mode, this is all but terminated.

God knows what comes next, but it can't be Ole any longer. The Glazers will hate it - more due to them losing their fan-fave buffer - but that's how it is. Ole and the entire staff need to get the feck out.

I genuinely think a new coaching set up will probably do as much good as a change of manager. But we need a manager with at least a basic grasp of progressive tactics. Ole has none.
I'd rather Ole drag us into the bottom half while we wait for a good manager than get an average manager and potentially keep him for 3 years.

I agree the coaching staff is probably all wrong, we are too easy to keep people in the man it's family which have no right being coaches anyway. Literally just cashing paychecks for doing feck all.

Got a bizarre feeling you'll approach Koeman if you're looking for experienced out of work manager to tick over until May.

Ten Hag is decent shout, would probably walk out on Ajax mid season for this type of job.

Anyone who saw De Gea interview will know the players have given up so your board can't sit on their hands any longer otherwise you're going out of CL aswell.
Koeman would be fine as interim imo.

Get an interim manager in, and ffs stop giving the interim manager permanent contract before the season ends.

Blac, Favre or Rangnick would be a good option.

Gotta be Brendan, he’s your only option. It will be expensive, but needs to be done now!..

Do you know there's something called 'interim' manager? Why do we have to keep Ole? What more do we need to see?

I’ll take anyone for a new manager bounce, but you just know we’ll be the only club not to have one of those!

Ralf Ragnick temporarily as caretaker till end of the season or we appoint Ernesto Valverde on a two year contract. The only two realistic options we really have unless Zidane changes his mind and is 100% on board in taking charge of the club. Ten hag is very unlikely if not impossible at this current moment.

It's honestly cruel to keep Ole here any longer. He's a club legend and doesn't deserve to be the battered shield for our inept board.

Once the dust settles, he'll be remembered as a manager who took us in the right direction after the lows of Jose's last year with us.

I just don't see us getting one of the top managers however. For me, the best managers are literally all at our rivals. And none will come here anytime soon.

When you look at the squad we have, I find it difficult to believe there isn’t a top class manager manager out there who is chomping at the bit to have a go.

There is no manager available Who will be able to get a winning team out of the big ego players in united. At this time it would take a magician.

Do you know there is something called "reading". Just read the thread and find your answer.
You literally posted that you would rather have ole dragging us down to bottom half.

I don't need to read the entire thread to respond to that.

Why do we need to change him for the same shit? You clearly haven't read what was said and the reasons I thought that. An interim manager will solve the grand sum of feck all at this club.

Zidane wants to take over the France job after Deschamps.

Enrique wants to manage Spain through the WC.

Would time out perfectly.

Obviously I'll take Zidane then Ten Hag as well.

All these reports of us shitting ourselves and sacking him. Stinks of no planning and burying our heads in the sand.

Better late than never I suppose but if we’d bitten the gullet over the break we could’ve kept us from carrying the debacle over our own bloody matches.

Don’t get me wrong I’d take Zidane in a heartbeat, literally anyone other than Ole at this point but I do have concerns about bringing in a guy who’s not all that interested in coming to the club and also doesn’t even speak English. I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it though.

Yeah I wonder why so many clubs appoint interims to arrest the slide.. better to keep underperforming rather than trying to wake up

I'm 99% sure Zidane will struggle here. I watched a lot of Real in both of his stints and it won't work here with the players we have. But the Glazers and Woodward will appoint him because of his name and another 3 years will go down the drain.

This is what we get when people whose only goal is to make money get in charge. Incompetence.

Please not rodgers, give me potter over him.

Said it before but realistically we royally messed up not getting conte as he was probably the best we could currently hope for as I don't think either zidane or ten hag will come here and will likely go to a more ambitious and well run proper current top club/country

I was never on the Zidane train, but Julien Laurens and Mohamed Bouhafsi have totally derailed it imo:

Laurens said he has no interest in English football at all, doesn't watch the PL, doesn't know most PL players or team styles. Also noted that his wife has no desire to live in England. He did say that his English is better than advertised though.

And from a big Bouhafsi profile (translated, judging by some of the text):

Momentarily, Zidane has no interest in coaching. He does not scout players, analyse tactics or even watch games. He focuses only on his family, his love of fishing and the game Padel. Even when active in the football scene, Zidane does not watch the English league often - struggling to name many but the top players. Asked, he will point to the theory that he does not have to know his teams as footballers but rather as people as he prefers an unstructured style that allows the players to express their talent without the constraint of tacticality.
Sounds like the French Ole.

Ah yes because interims working well then getting a contract has always lead to amazing things. Our board is that incompetent an interim manager winning 2 games on the bounce would get a 3 year contract and we would persevere with atleast 2 of those before starting this cycle again.

No doubting that Zidane would likely only be here for a bit, but I think he'd do quite well. With our current squad, we don't need some young coach to implement a gegen-pressing style. It wouldn't work IMO and would need a lot more turnover and time. Zidane has shown he's a manager who knows how to adapt to his team and opponents and get consistently good results and performances every year. I think he'll be fine.

  • Hire Rangnick as caretaker manager until the end of the season
  • Then hire Rangnick as DoF at the end of the season
  • Hire ten Hag as manager at the end of the season
