They want Poch or potentially Ten Hag. Could be writing off next season though waiting for them as we might not have CL football and will likely lose 4-5 players.

We're not being linked with Ten Hag at all though, are we? Seems like very wishful thinking. I'd love it to be the case though.

We still seem desperate for Poch :(

I wouldnt say its a new approach for the club. We did exactly the same when Jose was sacked. That interim coach just happened to get the job!

A caretaker manager until we find an interim manager. Yep, that’s the level this board is at. Incredible.
That's fairly normal. A simple example is when Sagnol replaced Ancelotti until Heynckes came back as an interim manager, they then gave the job to Kovac.

Could be Zidane or Rodgers in summer as easily as ten Haag. But clear the target manager or managers don't want to come now. Hiddink was a great interim manager at Chelsea, but not sure it matters too much who it is as long as the summer appointment gets agreed soon and we can start working on their targets

It doesn't matter, if said interim gets us into the top four, the Glazers will think he's the next Fergie and hand him one of the biggest contracts in the league for the next 3 years.

Board giving up already this season based on that decision looking for interim till end of season.

Should be breaking bank to get the right manager in.
Giving up on competing for top tier trophies this year? Maybe.
But I think there are more than enough decent managers out there who will finish easily Top4 with our squad. People underestimate how bad Ole was. We are in relegation form, you can literally not do worse with this squad.

I respect the decision to wait for a top option in the summer instead of hiring the next best guy. Let's just hope we don't wait till summer to then hire someone like Rodgers.

If we hire an interim, will they be able to bring in their own coaches?

I'm thinking that we won't be able to hire a whole new coaching staff just for an interim manager.

This thought is seriously depressing.

We'd basically be writing the season off.
Well even Ole’s ex Molde and Cardiff coaches are clearing out, so we’ll have a thin back room if they aren’t allowed to. Phelan’s even gone.

They’ll be allowed to but the biggest hurdle is that their coaches may not be interested in a short term post, it’ll be a hybrid of guys like Carrick and the interim managers main staff. It’s down to the manager to get his coaching room together.

I don’t mind this at all. Let’s be honest this season is already a write off, best we can hope for is a decent FA cup run or a decent CL run. None of the managers mentioned at the moment fill me with any confidence, being Zidane, Rogers etc.. summer could mean we look at the likes of Ten Hag, Rose or Poch.

The optimist in me thinks this is the club wanting Ten Hag at the end of the season - assuming Ten Hag has told them he wants to complete this season with Ajax.

I would rather wait till then than go for any of the options available now.

You never know - the interim could go full Di Matteo at Chelsea and win the CL

It looks like Carrick will serve as the interim manager if results are half decent or we might get Zidane in on a short term stint which he might be comfortable with anyway.
But I think the club will have learnt its lesson and will refrain from dishing out 3-year contracts to anyone with a hint of promise.

It will be Poch in the summer 100%

This season is a write off I suppose which is a travesty given our squad

Who’s going to accept an interim role? Hiddink or Avram? Anyone else?

Thank god the Fletcher stuff wasn't true.

I'm fine with Carrick leading the team for a few matches while they get an interim and for them to appoint a top target when he is available.

My only hope is interim means interim and please don't appoint him full term if he gets a few results. If you didn't feel that the person is good enough to be permanent manager right now then don't let a few results change your mind

It's frustrating to think this season is wasted with the talent we have right now. Even if we are getting an interim I would hope he's not just capable of seeing out this season but also winning a trophy

I think the interim will have to be Carrick or an older manager who isn't going to make radical changes to playstyle / personnel.

The board will want someone who can just steady the ship, keep the squad happy and not implement a playstyle that is going to be drastically different to the long term target's (ie Ten Hag).

This is to be expected, you’ll never find an interim appointment within a week. Does point towards a long term target.

It will go Carrick, interim manager (Blanc, Rangnick?) and then the long term appointment in the summer. I feel going from Rangnick to Ten Hag would be the smoothest option.
This was not a surprise.

The fact that they don't have a caretaker lined up when they should be announcing the next permanent manager is a fecking joke.

Bunch of clowns in that boardroom.

Does hiring Blanc as a permanent option show more fight for the season than hiring him on an interim basis till Ten Hag, Rodgers may be available next season?

There is no market to get the “right manager” mid season. That doesn’t happen. It’ll be a struggle getting them in the summer as it is.

Sounds to me like we’ve got Ten Hag but he’s not willing to leave until end of season.

Hope we get absolutely slapped by Villarreal.

The clubs learned nothing. Ole thrown under the bus (I’m ole out by the way he needed to go) whilst these mugs stay on. The lot of them need clearing out.

Interim manager until the summer with McKenna, Carrick and Phelan still taking the training sessions? absolutely pointless.

Carrick was part of Solskjaer's coaching team who were absolutely terrible .
Why on earth would we appoint one of his staff? It's absolutely ridiculous .

I think this definitely indicates the board have their heart set on a specific target. How far along negotiations are is another question. But it would appear whoever it is has made it clear they won't be taking over mid season, so probably someone at another club. Rogers? Ten Hag? Lopetegui?

Not a single link to him from UK or Holland, whose media are usually clued up on Ajax, i'd suspect its not Ten Hag

I dont think Zidane is too arsed about returning yet. It'll be Rodgers i reckon, and thats not a wum, theyll give it until the summer and bring him in fresh with a full pre-season

I'd rather Rooney on an interim basis than Carrick or Fletcher.
