I have caught a few Soton games this season and have been impressed with this kid every time I have seen him as he works his socks off, has decent finishing and a pretty reasonable touch for a CF.

Anyone know what his contact situation with Chelsea is? I know he is on loan to Soton, but is there a chance he could push for a move like some of their other kids did in the Summer?

1 in 3 for club and country, don't see anything special but his contract runs until 2023
1 in 3 for Southampton and the Albanian national side is a good return. I'd expect better numbers with the chances Chelsea create

To add to that he's also only just turned 20 a few months back

If you're looking at appearances then you're correct, but on a min/goal ratio he is scoring at a rate of 1 every 152 mins and with goals/assists he is at one 118 mins for Soton.

Seems pretty good to me statistically, especially when you consider he is only just 20.

Stats aside, when I watch him play he does a lot of good things in regard to work rate and pressing.

Not saying he is going to be world class but he definitely looks promising and one to watch.

The kids last summer largely did it because there was an academy player/player's further up the ladder at similar age in those positions, although in hindsight Livramento may have been a bit hasty as he'd be a certain starter right now with James out.

Theres a clear pathway for Broja and Tuchel has set a precedence with Chalobah, if they're good enough they're getting in.

I watched a lot of Vitesse games last season (Chelsea's satellite club).

He was definitely one of the most talented kids in the league but flew under the radar because he wasn't part of the big 3 or Dutch.

Glad to see he's getting some recognition.

Battered our defence today. He’d be an option worth looking at if we don’t want to spend astronomical figures. Leads the line very well for such a young player.

At only 20 he looks a real talent. I'd be surprised if Chelsea let him go though.

I've always said he's the perfect Chelsea striker stylistically. Reminds me a bit of Diego Costa with a hint of Anelka. Not sure if he's ready for us. I hope he is because he fits the bill perfectly.

Needs to improve his decision-making a bit to make it truly at the top level but you'd imagine that'd develop with time - all his physical characteristics as well as his movement are already superb.

Lukaku is gone. This guy will be better than Lukaku in couple of years.

Absolute unit !

He was nothing special at Vitesse last year, so surprised to see all the positive comments here...

forwards typically develop and mature at a later age than other positions, particularly wingers. You can probably count on 1 hand how many 18-21 year old forwards that are the real deal at any given time.

Broja is doing well in a modest team, it’s a compliment to him that he is relied on to get them goals. Although their other strikers are average so that helps him get more attention.

Yeah it's important to note he was just 18 when he went to the Dutch league.

Big fan of him. Feels like one Chelsea will let go for now with decent buy back clause. Would take him at Villa tbh but Southampton obviously favourites to get him full time.

As I said for the outset, very good player for his age especially as CF's typically develop later and he is doing it in the PL.

Since I initially posted, I found out he has 3-4 years left on his Chelsea contract. Cannot see them not taking him back when their alternative is Lukaku.

In place of Watkins? If he keeps up this form for rhe rest of the season and Chelsea are open to selling him, I think Southampton will be priced out of a move by clubs with more money. There were rumours of Arsenal being interested yesterday.
