Ffs Nicky.. Pep, Klopp, Tuchel were not prem proven. Jose at Chelsea was not prem proven, Wenger at Arsenal was not prem proven.

SAF was not prem proven. Why is this argument still being used?

Multiple reports for many many years on the love of the board and Sir Alex for Pochettino and their efforts to get him previously

Multiple reports from credible sources including Laurie Whitwell, Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein on us interviewing Ten Hag and 2 others but waiting and waiting with nothing even remotely imminent

The CAF - "People love to make stuff up and get angry about it"
Didn't it ever sound odd to you that despite there being multiple reports throught the years, nobody was name dropped except Woody and SAF?

Now that Woody is gone, it's "the board" who loves Poch. Well, who is this board. Do we get any names.

I remember reading that Ragnick, Murtogh, Fletcher and even Arnold were on board with ETH.

When it comes to Poch, it's fog of war. SAF and "the board"

Allegri and Sarri are not top 10 managers in 2022 IMO

Having more experience should be working against Pochettino in this scenario, in my opinion. He's had longer to showcase he's not an elite manager, it's taken him until his 13th year of management to secure his first league title after being unable to close the gap in half a season in 20/21.

I don't think years in management matter that much. What does is the caliber of teams you manage and the results you get.

So far Poch has been doing a decent job, Problem is, doing a decent job at United right now isn't going to win any fans over. We need something extraordinary.

How is it obvious? Have they appointed him? If they wanted Poch so badly, why would there be so much noise around Ten Hag? Why isn't Poch appointed then?

Fans really need to calm down, ETH has a contract with Ajax, he is not a free agent. Ajax are in a title race, why would they want to upset anything.

Stop being a entitled United fan.

This thread has lost it mind. Absolute rubbish tweets from rubbish journos and rag back pages, and everyone exploding like it'd all factual.

Simple fact is ETH has a contract with Ajax, and they are currently in the middle of a tight title race so not a case of we can just go get him. And if the deal already done, it will most defo be hush until Ajax wrap up their season.

If it ends up not him, and this whole process has been a shitshow then ok moan, but let's at least wait to that happens and everybody stop pissing the pants any time a hack tweets shite

Because people are probably getting paid to use it. No intelligent football fan would say or believe that.

Worrying seeing this from the likes of Neville and Butt, It's a non-sensical argument.

Without wanting to be a conspiracy theorist, could this be the club trying to spin it to get fans behind Poch?

For those interested in odds, Sky bet have Ten Hag at 4/11 and Poch at 11/2.

However, max stake on Poch is £45, max stake on Ten Hag is £627. That’s telling.

The board and owners are just setting themselves up for more toxicity and vitriol if they hire Poch and he fails, as we all suspect he might. They're already on shaky ground and another disastrous season coupled with another City/Liverpool title win is going to spark protests. At least if Ten Hag comes and fails they can blame it on the fans for overwhelmingly wanting him.

Because some people have chosen a particular (sad and lame) hill to die on and are refusing to back down.

"Premier league proven", "safe", "reliable" and other bs being spouted.

Poch has
- proved nothing in the Premier league
- awful awful record against top teams
- nothing special in terms of footballing philosophy
- setup teams that have perennially bottled games

Yeah, his experience certainly stacks up

These stats end at 2018 and are slightly misleading as Poch's Spurs beat United at OT in the PL 3-0 with Kane and Lucas Moura running riot. Not sure how many more he got before getting sacked but it's at least two away wins.

Actually these stats are even less complete as it's a capture from Oct 2017 and doesn't include most games from the 17/18 season. A full breakdown of his time in the PL is needed.

So you know they are friends?
It seems like you don't. Richard Arnold and Matt Judge (the transfer negotiator) are both friends of Ed Woodward's from their time at the University of Bristol back in the '90s. All three of them are accountants with no football background.

just because they work in the same organisation. Also, does that mean if you are friends with someone they have the same way of running things as you? their expertise are the same or their opinions are the same?

Being friends doesn't mean you do not different ideas.
Woodward helped the Glazers buy Man United in 2005 and joined the club in 2007. Richard Arnold followed him into club in 2007 fifteen years ago, while Matt Judge joined in 2012. If they had different or innovative ideas, we would have seen them by now. Or at the very least, they would have clashed with Woodward. Also, I highly doubt that the Glazers and Woodward would have even accepted to bring in a different CEO. You're free to believe the opposite.

So the club didnt loan out Amad, Donny and Martial based on Rangnick's say?
No they didn’t do it on Ragnick’s say. Amad was already supposed to go on loan in the summer but got injured, so the move fell through. Martial and Donny already had their hearts set on a loan before Ragnick got there. Ragnick actually wanted to keep Martial but Anthony he had made it clear he wanted a change and more game time. So Ragnick had no choice (through no fault of his own).

who did he want in midfield?
There’s no point in asking me this question if you’ve already made up your mind that they are listening to him.

Well, its all well and good taking his quotes out of context too, he said in and around training it has been good to have Fletcher with him.
I did not take anything out of context. Ragnick's entire quote is : "
What is his (Fletcher’s) role in with regard to the club? I don't really know, to be honest. I can only tell you what is happening in training sessions, around training sessions and games. In those areas, it is good to have him on board.”

In what way does that say future to you?
I was basing it on what you said:
Fabrizio has clearly stated that Rangnick will be involved.
The word "will" is in the future tense. Those are your words, not mine.

Van Gaal's complaints were centred around the preseason tour. And he found it difficult to juggle the tour games whilst also preparing for the new season. Real Madrid and other big clubs also had a commercial interest when it came to arranging preseason tours, and their head coaches got on with it. This will obviously be blown out of proportion by certain individuals but it was a case of LVG not adapting to the modern game.

His current comments are from his most recent press conference for the Netherlands though

He wasn't wrong about the importance the club places on commercial interests ahead of performance back then and he still isn't now.

Klopp's infamous 'Disneyland' comments regarding the clubs pitch to him years back summer it up as well as anyone could have

But his complaints at United were centred around the preseason tour and he's still banging on about that to this day.

The Disneyland comments are a different conversation and Klopp at the time was contracted to Dortmund.

We should get Claudio Ranieri. Premier League proven winner with a small club that has not won it before and did not win it again yet. Can the mods include him in the poll too? A lot better than Poch did in the PL. :D

Allegri and Sarri might make top50, not top10..
Allegri has won 6 Serie A, 4 Coppa Italia and was CL finalist twice…. Ten Hag has won the Dutch league twice and the Dutch Cup twice…. Sarri a Serie A and a Europa trophy… I can see how you can make a case for ETH over Sarri, but Allegri is WAY more accomplished.

‘Also, I should have included Zidane in the top 10. Still, doesn’t really change my point which is that ETH may not be the bees knees when you stack him up against the most accomplished managers in the game…

You’re questioning Ten Hag as a top manager yet you’ve got fecking Xavi in the top 10 despite being at Barca for 5 minutes.
I don’t know… he has transformed that side. Maybe Xavi isn’t top 10, but would you bet your house that ETH has a better managerial career than Xavi? I wouldn’t.

Xavi? Sarri? Seriously?
Ok, pull them out and put in Zidane and Luis Enrique… my point is that ETH might not even be in the top 10 of current managers…

It’s natural to want a savior of some sort to come in, and ETH is a decent candidate, but the Caf has gone way overboard in proclaiming him to be a genius…

Overwhelmingly in favor of Ten Hag…. Is he even a top 10 manager in the world? Not that Pochettino is, but…

Tuchel
Klopp
Pep
Allegri
Ancellotti
Nagelsmann
Conte
Sarri
Xavi (on recent results)
Simeone

Then you’ve got Gasperini and Gaultier, Unai Emery, Lopetegui, Pochettino I’d put in this group… I guess Ten Hag is in here?
Xavi, Sarri and Alegri top ten in the world? really?!

Might as well add Mourinho if you're taking the trophy route.

Telling of what?

That Skybet are sad, and only want a max payout of under £250 whoever we get a the next manager. The only thing that is telling of is what we know already, that they haven't got a clue.

Isn’t this exactly what happened with lopetegui? He arranged to go to Madrid after the euros and they sacked him before it?
Might be wrong but I think the main issues were that he agreed the deal in secret without informing the national team, and that he did it in the week leading up to the competition

Might be different for LE if he is transparent with them and it’s done monthsin advance
