I can understand the votes, it's that anyone is so sure they are right about a manager they barely know anything about.

AVB's a cool rally driver tho! I'm admittedly an ETH voter based on his apparent record of applying a coherent system which I think has been lacking. And I'm not against Poch as such, just think he might be a bit jaded after the last few years because this place is going to challenge any decent manager.

What we don't know is the scope of this manager role. Which functions are carried out by whom and where shared, who with and to what extent (%)?

And what are the parameters for deciding success or failure?

Its not really any different, Pochettino's other games vs Pep is a record of 2 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses... So 1 additional draw and 1 additional loss. Pretty much the same.

Sir Alex vs Pep is pointless as it was just 2 CL finals vs the greatest team ever.

Sir Alex had 3 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats vs Mourinho. He did however win a league title while Mourinho was in the prem (and likely would've still won the 2nd in 07/08 had Mourinho not been sacked anyway).

Also important to note when a manager faces another manager. Pochettino's Spurs time is a team with their peak level fully coinciding with that manager, from start to finish of that "team". It wasn't early rebuild (United when Mourinho took over) or end of peak/transition to rebuild time (United at the end of Sir Alex's time). It was their peak years, so basically equivalent to if you looked at United's record from 06/07 - 08/09. Pochettino faced Liverpool during the start of Klopps rebuild and their peak. Same with City, albeit admittedly City do quick rebuilds so not quite as fair.

You've ignored the part where I mentioned that Spurs were in the top three for three of the seasons in the league overall for goals scored during that time. Was that due to other clubs misfiring as well?

• 14/15 - 1.58 goals per game, 1.38 xG per game
• 15/16 - 1.82 goals per game, 1.67 xGpg
• 16/17 - 2.26 gpg, 1.84 xGpg
• 17/ 18 - 1.95 gpg, 1.81 xGpg
• 18/19 - 1.76 gpg, 1.64 xGpg

Average - 1.87 gpg, 1.67 xGpg.
That's pretty much the same average xG level that United was at for the past 5 years. Only difference is they had a peak Kane throughout it. They significantly overperformed their xG in 16/17, their only year in which they surpassed 2 goals per game. Pochettino isn't really an attacking manager.

Yes, it does for me. I wasn't aware of this before and some posters gave me some interesting thoughts.

Given how poor the decision making seems to be among the players and the pundits, it does seem like a red flag.

I hope the appointers weight the 'references' correctly. Ex managers & owners first, then players managed by him and finally if at all, the opinions of players to be managed by the new guy.

It's unusual for shop floor staff to have a say in appointing CEOs. Apple wouldn't ask even very creative and well paid executives more than 1 rung away from the 'C-Suite' about a new CEO.
