If I’m not mistaken, we allowed the most goals in our PL history. For me, that is priority no.1, and some of that is the midfield. FDJ would help playing out of the back, more possession, even positioning-wise he would help. Pairing him with a, say Brozovic, another defensively minded distributor would be ideal.
Another option would be to go to a back 3, allowing one CB to step between the lines to challenge, and if you do that, you can play more of an 8 with FDJ.

stick with what you know mate !!FDJ is a deep lying playmaker, similar to Jorginho or Pirlo. The other two CMs do the ball winning and pressure high up the pitch when necessary. Fred could do this job (he does it for Brazil) and probably McTominay too. But then you are leaving out Bruno and playing a 4-3-3. In a 4-2-3-1, you need more of a DM to pair with FDJ IMHO.
Will this guy be worth 70m? That’s the question. That’s more then halve our budget on 1 player and we need about 4/5 players. Why can we never find the quality cheaper players. Do we even have scouts? If so they need sacking.

Looks like we are back to our shithouse dealings.We are trying to drive the price down when we know others clubs can swoop for FDJ anytime.
I think it's fairly safe to say that we don't have scouts, not up to the standards at least. Thing with Frenkie is that he is obviously a quality player, so I would personally spend that amount on him than get someone for let's say £10-15m cheaper but with much more risk, someone like Fred. That is a big chunk of our transfer budget but here is hope we can somehow shift some deadwood, also we will free up quite a bit of money from the players that have left on a free.
