I dunno why he's leaving the weather in Manchester for any of these places, to be frank the Salford Quays are going to be 40degrees on the regular the way things are going. That said the bookies have him at 10/11 to stay anyway. I wonder if literally ALL of these rumours are just for clicks.

Just like when he 'was going city' and we panicked and paid him £500k a week to come here. Reckon he's doing the same thing to Real Madrid - only difference is I don't think they're gonna fall for it

Dig up stupid!
What's Monacos CL situation? Do they have to qualify?

Seems an obvious link given their tax allowances and the mendes links. Wouldn't be surprised if this is a fallback option. Would also reignite the Messi v Ronaldo club battle

For someone that has a giant machine behind them I really can’t understand why he wasn’t laying the groundwork for the second the season finished. As much as he doesn’t press etc. I think a few teams may have frames their transfer windows differently had it been clear he was ‘available’ all Summer.

Yea they're facing PSV in the qualifying round, so it's far from a sure thing, it's gonna be tight between those 2 teams. Marseille would be a more realistic option in France (even though in reality, it's not), they have the same kind of payroll as Monaco but would be more willing to break their wage structure for a big star. But even then, Ronaldo would need to accept getting paid in a month what he was getting paid in a week last season, Marseille wouldnt be able to offer him more than £500K per month. No club in France outside of PSG is remotely near to be able to pay the wages he'd want. He makes more than the entire starting XI of my team.

Ruining his Madrid legacy, certainly tarnishing it, for Atletico? Really?

Atletico are small time, going nowhere near the UCL.
He doesn't care about ruining his United legacy why would he care about Madrid? Having said that Atlético can't pay his salary anyway.

I don't know what to make of those comments tbh. Is ETH being serious or just not giving the media anything?

he's already 15 goals ahead of Messi who won't be catching him anytime soon
Not just that ... it is very likely that Messi heads back to Argentina next season. He has always said that he wanted to go back to Newell's Old Boys while he could still contribute and not as an afterthought. This is why I don't believe that CL goals logic being used. I think it has to do with his roles and expectations from EtH that has put him off. Having said that, I'm sure he will be 100% professional if he stays.

The pressing is obviously a problem at his age but I clearly remember last season (early on under Ralf) where Ronaldo was pressing a goalkeeper and looked around and saw that Sancho and Elanga were not closing down the full backs in unison on their side which meant it was a complete and utter waste of time/energy. He looked annoyed and was waving his arms for them to get closer but to no avail. Hopefully this season it will be more of a coordinated press with or without Ronaldo.

This I just don't understand. It doesn't make any sense.

Indeed. You’d have thought he would have had a top agent advising him.

Oh wait…

This is quite funny, though I do think he'll end up staying. This is him negotiating his way to assured starter roles in the new manager's team. He knows he'd be the first one on the bench under a manager who won't be in the mood to mollify star egos vs keeping his job.
As I said.........

Some people will be shocked that a coach would actually want to build an attacking team to take advantage of a guy who was a top 3 PL scorer last season and is the utmost professional, a guy that also showed last year that is willing to adapt and work more in areas like pressing and whatever the coach asks him to do.

Anyway, there's too much noise around Cristiano. Always been the case, but since now he's back to the UK, the noise was always going to go to extreme levels. 99% of what's out there is bollocks and most people bait into everything and spend pages discussing invented pieces of journalism. If he's gonna move, I will know when it's for real. If not, I couldn't care less about all this noise, and I'll get back into discussing his performances in a couple weeks.

I hope I don't sound aggressive with the post, that's certainly not how I'm feeling, and I do enjoy reading the discussions here on the thread, but the dude makes money for every media out there, they take advantage of it to the most, and some people form opinions of him based on things that most of the time have absolutely no fundamentals behind them, and the media circus around him now, specially with UK tabloids, is just ridiculous, really.

I hope he stays and continues to prove his worth, and that he helps the team achieve better things than last season.

Look at his pressing numbers on Fbref. He's in the bottom percentile in the top 5 leagues for pressures last season. Disingenuous to imply the other forwards are to blame.

I am aware of that but it was obvious we stopped pressing after about 5 games into Ralf's reign here and I think it's wrong to put the blame entirely on Ronaldo especially when he was actually doing it and urging his teammates to do so in the first few games.

I mean, we didn't magically transform into a pressing team when he was out of the side against Liverpool and got smashed 4-0 or the other times he was injured. The player fitness across the whole squad last year was dire.

It’s almost as it a lot of media stories are not made up for clicks and views and ratings….shocker.

However will just believe anything they here. Now an atlético rumor só now people will say “atlético denied him too”.

The truth will come out eventually.

Oh so last year he was “going to city “ meaning it was fake news but now this year it’s all true that he’s being “denied” by every club in Europe.

Logic. Love to see it.

He wasn't doing it much, though. His numbers were lower than any other forward at the club, by some way too. He's just not capable of doing it consistently at this age and that's not a slight on him, it's just the way it goes when you edge towards 40. The optimal outcome would be for him to be rotated and managed properly, but he'll want to start every game possible.

What about the term fanboy?
Fanboy hasn't been tainted by annoying Youtube vloggers/internet people the same way 'haters' has been so it's less cringey at this point. Shoutout to my haters is something real people genuinely say.

So you do not believe he would have gone to City if we hadn’t stepped in?
Or do you not believe he has been rejected by all the top clubs he has approached?

Any chance you're going to grow up any time soon?
You don't have to take offence from this, it doesn't necessarily mean you are one of them, unless you really feel devastated after hearing what ETH has said.
