I kinda feel for him. Yes, he's a millionaire, but Barca are inhuman scum (threatening him with legal action etc).

To be fair, I would always take him if he's available. If this summer it was between ETH and Tuchel, I'd want Tuchel. I think he's fantastic. One of the very few who can actually take on Pep and Klopp tactically on a regular basis.
Take them on in what context?

Competing with a football team? Absolutely no chance.

My username is taken from that album. Some people think Today is about suicidal ideations- probably appropriate for this thread.
never knew that. thought Mayonaise would be more apt for this thread, especially the part when it goes no more promise no more sorrows.

That tweet is exactly what has been told for at least a week now, and people still asked "why havent they bid then?"

Because He wants to stay. And until that changes, a bid is not going in, if at all.
Well he's going to be shown the door by tomorrow afternoon, time he accepts reality.

I leave for an hour or 2 and come back and it’s 1515. The pace at which everyone is posting (mostly nonsense) is incredible. Either way the cafe should be proud for growing this monstrous and horrible thread.

@cyberman :lol: :lol:

I’m sure some of us seen this coming with Ben Jacobs sources being Laporta and Todd.
I knew something changed with the news of Chelsea bidding came out this morning. It went against the basis of every ITK Chelsea nonsense that said they were waiting in the player ok before approaching Barca.
Glad to have called it (so late to be fair)

It may have already been suggested but seeing how surprisingly effective it was with Arnautovic, shouldn’t we try to sway this our way in one last desperate attempt?

Just e-mail to toddboehly@chelsea.co.uk and tell him that we, legitimate Chelsea fans, don’t want Frankie in our club!

But still, why not get the bid in anyway? It makes no difference either way to Chelsea. If he decides to leave, everything is in place for both teams.

Yeah Frenkie is a known advocate of social health insurance. That should do it

Why not? Tuchel beat Klopp in both domestic finals, beat Pep in a CL final and knocked them out the FA cup. New owners, more say in transfers from what it looks like, no Lukaku…I think they’ll be 2nd or 1st this year of these transfers come through.

Surely something has to happen today with them wanting to register players tomorrow. They'll be missing half the side that has taken part in preseason

Just to be clear because there seems to be some confusion, Barça have until August 31 to register all of their signings. The only rush is because they want to have everyone available against Rayo this weekend, but even if they’re not registered by then, they still have time.

I think that front office has too much pride not to force themselves to get this done as soon as possible, but it’s possible this could go on longer.

They will activate levers and players will be registered. Barca have done that all summer, they have been activating levers and spending continues.

I won't be shocked to see all their signings registered without Frenkie leaving.

So he has beaten them both a couple of times? So has Ole. Ole also beat him in a one off important Champions League tie with a worse team. Also as @romufc rightly points out he has not even achieved the things you claim he has.

Has he ever finished above either of them in the league? I would be willing to make any bet you want that he will not finish above either this season no matter what signings he makes. I will give you 2 to 1 odds.

If arsenal start taking our main targets then we are in major trouble. They won’t get FDJ but if they did and with the signings they’ve already made? They will pull way past us to such an extent that 4th will probably be a pipe dream for a few years

Aye like they took Martinez, literally 2 weeks ago. We doomed

New episode out:

- Laporte likes De Jong but De Jong earns 2x - 3x more than other players, which causes issues in the dressing room.
- Bunch of players have been cleared out on big contracts already.
- United have a deal with Barcelona to sign De Jong.
- Need to wait and see if he starts on Saturday for Barca, Mitten was told no, he won't start, so let's see what happens.
- Mitten was told by a Barcelona source that they 'think' they'll be able to register all the players before the weekend.
- Barca and Madrid tend to get what they want.
- No interest in the Real Betis midfielder. No bid for the PSV forward either but milage in that one.
- Advanced discussions underway for Rabiot. Comparisons between Rabiot and Pereria in terms of type of player and ability. Signing wouldn't fix most of the problems on display against Brighton, but would be an upgrade on McFred, in the wrong way.
- United are panicking in the window now.
- Strikers market is incredibly difficult at the moment, some clubs have been looking for 6 months and still can't find anyone.
- United would sell Bailly tomorrow but the offers are around £2m or a loan with no buy option/low loan fee.
- Can't loan or sell Brandon Williams because his salary is beyond the reach of clubs outside of European competition. United valued him at £20m and tried to sell him last summer.
- Ten Hag was the one who pushed for the signing of Arnautovic.
