It’s looking like we have a dogfight on our hands. Fixtures below prior to the break

Liverpool(H) L
Southampton (A) W
Leicester (A) D
Arsenal (H) D
Palace (A) D
Leeds (H) W

that’s 10 points I’m giving us for the next 6 games which will leave us in the bottom 3.
I’ve suggested a top 8 finish which I may need to retract

Why an earth do you think we are going to beat Southampton? They outplay us pretty much every time we play. Nothing like a game against Man United to get even the poorest clubs in the league back on track.

I’m surprised some of you have us down to get a draw against Arsenal. They are looking like a team with very little weakness and absolutely flying with good balance across the whole team.

I fancy them to even get points against the top 3/4.

They'll beat us 4 or 5 nil

I predicted Brentford would put 4 past us so 4 or 5 nil vs a flying Arsenal is not unrealistic. They're far better than Brentford.
I thought the same as you re-Brentford match. I backed Brentford on handicaps at -1 @ 8/1, -2 @ 25/1 & -3 @ 110/1.
I have backed us for relegation at 1000/1 pre-season & 500/1 after 1st match. We are now best priced 25/1.
I dont want to collect on these bets, but they were ridiculous odds.

Looking at the whole season, unless things improve dramatically it seems a long shot that we will get to 40pts.
We've already dropped 6pts compared to last season in the first 2 games.

The club are sleepwalking towards relegation & I dont think there is anybody in the building that has a scooby how to stop it happening.

Let’s be realistic they won’t
This time right now? you can't be surprised at anything. Did you really think Brentford would beat us 4-0?

Arsenal are playing really well right now. Unless we get our act together quickly we could lose every 1 of these fixtures.

Just on betting look at the popular request a bets from skybet

The footballing world are laughing at us.

I don't think we'll be relegated but we're in for probably our toughest season yet for sure.

We are at a point where I can't see where the next win is coming from. Massive trouble.

Where did you find those odds? Can't see them on Skybet

Considering the state we’re in now, I could easily see us losing everything and scraping draws against Southampton and Leeds. Southampton is away so could see us getting beat there too.

Also important to note that the game after the break is against City!

Unless we manage to do something absolutely drastic before the window closes, we’re in for a very long season.

Liverpool(H) L
Southampton (A) W
Leicester (A) D
Arsenal (H) D
Palace (A) W
Leeds (H) W

That would be a 70 point par for those games, ignoring the first 2 results.

Feel the same. There's absolutely nothing going for us at all, something we could work with. The questions are will ETH stick to his guns tactically? Would he be willing to sit deep and play on the counter, perhaps 5 at the back? Or can we find a 'balls to the wall' way of playing and go for goals, perhaps a switch to a 442?

At the moment I have zero faith in our players to perform no matter the setup. If it was me, I'd go 433, drop Bruno who is a passenger right now, and try to make us harder to play through. Perhaps give Iqbal a chance or Savage (not Vs Liverpool, they don't deserve what's coming). Malacia has to play, he's the only player that I've seen with some fire in him so far.

Hopefully ETH has snapped and puts the fear of God in these lot and we get a reaction. I would be extremely happy if, for example, we leave it all on the pitch Vs Liverpool and simply outrun them. That would be a start for me, no matter the scoreline.

I'd be looking at Leeds for a win, Southampton and Palace for draws and the rest I'd be happy to escape with some intact dignity.

If I was going to be a hopeless optimist: Liverpool have some players out and most of the goals we conceded against Brentford were individual mistakes rather than being cut open. If we can get the team right (start Varane, push Martinez into midfield, drop Shaw, pick one of Bruno/Ronaldo, etc.), ride our luck and score first then maybe...

It's the hope that kills.

Reckon we'll get our first point of the season against Southampton and then beat Leicester

Have you actually watched Arsenal this season? No idea why you’re laughing. Unless you just watch Twitter memes.
I watched them have a good 20 minutes against Palace and then get battered for the rest of the game

Regardless of their start to describe them as a team with very few weaknesses is hilarious

If we don't win a single game in our first ten they'd have to sack him. Then the brown stuff will really hit the fan.

However they probably wouldn't in fear of a fan revolt against the owners intensifying.

Quite possibly the most ridiculous post I’ve come across on Redcafe. That takes some doing as well. Well done my friend.

I think we're heading for a lower points tally than last season (58), but relegation seems a bit of a stretch. It will still be a historically low ebb for the club, but not as bad as you've predicted here.

Hey up Chief. Fair enough, all about opinions.
Let me explain where I’m coming from.
Last season we finished on 58pts
Weve already dropped 6pts in the first 2 games compared to results against Bri & Bren last season.
Then there’s the 10 games against City, Liv, Chels, Spurs & Arsenal.
If you take the view that the current squad will struggle to pick up hardly any points against these then that’s a further
11 pts dropped against last season
So from just those 2 angles that’s 6pts def dropped + another 11 likely dropped.
In total -17pts. Deduct that from 58 = 41.
To beat that total relies on us beating the remaining last seasons results.
My premise is that I’m not confident this squad can do that.
Hence my concern about us reaching 40pts.

Sorry, for the long reply.

We are not going to struggle to get 40 points.

We will most likely finish 6th again.

As bleak as it looks and feels right now, it’s not as irreparable as you might think. If we resolve the central midfield with 2 solid CMs, we will be fine.

Is Southampton no longer pressing or have they quit on Hasenhuttl? I don't see how anyone is optimistic about that fixture.

That’s the key. New signings!
Our results from the start of the year has been relegation form. Utd are not just getting beat, they are getting hammered. It’s a fecking mess!

Nothing I've seen in the first two matches leads me to believe that we can reliably score goals, or reliably prevent goals from going in...let alone win games.

Unless we get at least one midfielder and one attacking player before the window closes I have no faith that this team can finish in the top half.

Based on our form over the last 10 games, we will be very lucky to even get five points out of that.

Hope you are right though. Desperate times.

I think so too. That would put us at 4 points from 5 games and it's not even worst case scenario :nervous:
